It was worthless for me

3/7/2008 - Jan of Oklahoma, USA writes:

I was so excited to buy this product as I loathe chopping onions...and I use them a lot in my cooking. First thing right out of the package I put a half an onion in it and the bottom container broke! In pieces. I see the other reviews and I would like to try it again, I just don't want to get burned. It's a great concept. I do wish they made it out of metal or something a bit sturdier. And yes, this was the original Vidalia Chopper sold on TV.

Pleasantly surprised

2/2/2008 - Lucy of Kentucky, USA writes:

After having to make 2 pots of chili for superbowl weekend, I decided to invest in this, hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I quartered 2 onions and a bell pepper, and was done in about 6 quick chops - which would have taken me 15 minutes by hand. Since chopping vegetables is my most avoided kitchen task, I'm really excited by this product. I usually don't buy TV products, but this one was a pleasant surprise.

It Works Great, I Love It!!!!

1/30/2008 - Nan of Alabama, USA writes:

The first time I used it, I had a hard time pressing down, I had it laying lengthwise in front of me like a minus sign and pressing down, but then I tried laying it in front of me like an I from top to bottom with the open end fartherest from me and Voila, It works like a dream, I love it and my family does too. I just wish it were able to make long french fries instead of short ones.

I'm a choppin' queen

1/28/2008 - jessica of Pennsylvania, USA writes:

What a great product! My boyfriend found one for 14 bucks and decided to give it a try. We love to make salsa, however it always turned into a night long event. But wait, that has all changed since we got the chopper! Did I mention breakfast? We make fantastic fried potatoes with omlets constructed of peppers, onions, mushrooms and anything else you can "chop". Yeah, you have to cut some things down. I usually quarter the large onions and potatoes. The key on the chopper is to clean it right after use, once the skin and veggie juice dries it can be hard to clean out. I just run mine under hot water and use the cleaning device to get in the grooves. It's no biggie. It just saves so much time, we love to get creative with different types of peppers and anything else we can get our hands on. I highly recomend the chopper to anyone who even does the slightest bit of cooking.

don't waste your money

1/25/2008 - Annie of Minnesota, USA writes:

I tried a boiled egg on this and it got completely stuck in the grid and on the part you push down. Then I tried an onion and it was very hard to press through. I have strong arms and hands and this thing is difficult. Also, very hard to clean - dishwasher did not completely clean the top.

A few extra seconds go a long way!

1/19/2008 - Lisa of Massachusetts, USA writes:

I bought this from a department store and I love it! Yes, I did find that I had to quarter my oninons before chopping, but the end result made the few extra seconds worth it. I could never get such a good presentation with my own knife.

Works Great!!!

12/29/2007 - Laura of Oklahoma, USA writes:

I was very surprised to find this product actually worked great!!! Thanks to Jim from Texas for the advice of letting the lid rest on the item and then putting pressure directly over the food item. Great advice. Yes, you do need to cut the item into sections, but it takes seconds to prepare and then a couple of seconds to allow the machine to do the rest. The cleaning item worked great also and took very little effort to clean. I did not produce one tear dicing the onion. Perfectly happy with this product.

IT BROKE

11/4/2007 - Richard of California, USA writes:

I like the way this product works and it does a good job, BUT the second time I used it, it broke. I tried to chop an 1/2 half an onion and just pushing down didn't do the job. I had to hit it hard and when I did one of the pegs that hold the top in place snapped off. They should have made the bottom out of the same plastic as the top which seems to be much stronger plastic. I am very dissapointed.

Works for Us

10/29/2007 - Gail of California, USA writes:

I bought this for my husband after he saw the infomercial. We have had it the better part of a year. We use it 2 to 3 times a week. I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy the plastic is. I think it is a little pricey for what it is. It is easier to use if large veggies are quartered before using. It makes nice salsa. It is a little hard to clean the grooves in the lid even with the cleaning tool. My method is to soak in hot water and then scrub with a brush under running water. Beware of add-ons and e-mail from ChopWizard if you order on their Web site. Mailing list removal did work.

Works great!

9/29/2007 - Jim of Texas, USA writes:

I bought this and it's everything it promises. I read some of the other reviews, and I think I know how to solve most peoples' problems with this item. Once you close the lid, let it rest on top of the item you wish to cut. Then press firmly directly above where the food is, and POOF, it goes right through.

Save time with this handy chopper!

9/8/2007 - Rhonda of Wisconsin, USA writes:

I saw the infomercials. Many times. Came across it in a [] near where I live and bought it. My husband and I both love it. I can chop peppers, onions, mushrooms or what ever in 1/4 less time than with a knife. I love the fact you can just go from one thing to the next, and then, just add all your chopped goodies to your dish! The measuring tool is nice too. It does take a little getting used to. There is a knack to it. But once I got it down, it is smooth. It may not be the best option for elderly people, you do have to press somewhat hard and quick. But, my 8 year old has fun "chopping" things for me. I really haven't had a problem with cleaning. As soon as I am done with it, I rinse it real well and put it in my dishwasher. And we are ready to go again. If you cook a lot, and chop a lot, it is worth the $20. dollars.

Good, Bad and Ugly

7/28/2007 - Robin of British Columbia, Canada writes:

Good: Really good, small dices, useful for a lot of stuff. Loved making the large batches of chopped onions needed for my curries. Salsas were a charm. Bad: Surprisingly hard to use for "firmer" stuff, such as onions, carrots and so on. You have to use your wieght. Hard to clean as the tiny teeth get gunge stuck in them, that cannot be washed out even by a dishwasher.. They have a little comb to brush out the stuff, but its a pain. Ugh-lie!: Very flimsy. Plastic hinge broke within 2 weeks, especially as youo put a lot of pressure for the hard veggies. The thin knife material bent pretty soon. All over pretty shabby construction. need t I would buy again IF they inmproved the construction quality -- mine lasted less than 3 weeks of heavy use.. I'd even pay more for a heavy metal one.

Excellent product

7/3/2007 - Gene of Arizona, USA writes:

I bought 2 of these, one for my daughter and we both have found them to be excellent and a great time saver. Chops very quickly and the product is strongly made. One of the few infomercials that is accurate.

I'm a big fan

6/6/2007 - Chris of New Mexico, USA writes:

I am single and cook alot and this thing is great. Would you rather slice an onion into thirds and have the chopper dice it or dice the whole thing yourself? It's takes less than 30 seconds and you don't burn your eyeballs out. It's perfect for egg salad. The aperature is about 4"x4", so to dice a green pepper, you need to cut pieces that size. The resulting pieces are perfect little squares for salads, marinades, whatever. Again, not perfect, but no contest on how much effort this saves. Of course, for larger jobs it's worth whipping out the cuisinart, but I definitely use mine less now. The smaller dicing blades are (as someone pointed out) too big for minced garlic (use a box grater - it's super fast). And, honestly, it's kind of fun. It takes some strength to push half an onion through there so if it's a problem, slice the onion twice.

LOVE IT

6/3/2007 - Laura of Tennessee, USA writes:

I own a small Cafe' and we use our chopper EVERY day for small and large jobs. It does take a little bit of trial and error, but have worked thru the kinks. Clean up is very easy if you run dicer under warm water while you are cleaning with tool. ALSO, you do need to slice onion into quarters before chopping, no problem. Don't push on lid, SLAM it down! Takes out any frustrations you may have! Only complaint would be the bottom half has broken a few times, but have no problems returning for a new one from where I purchased it ([])

waste of time

5/21/2007 - Debbi of New York, USA writes:

I was not impressed. I had to really put some pressure on it to get the onion to go thru - then all the little pieces got stick in the grate! What a pain!! I could have done 5 or 6 onions in my little food processor in the time it took me for a half an onion with this thing!!

I received this product as a gift. I tried it two times and found that I could do a much better job with a knife. I saw the product on sale in a drugstore as well, on a closeout
