I've been using my total gym for about a year now and I love it. I used a bowflex for several years prior and was so bored with it I decided to purchase the total gym because it's very inexpensive. There is a large variety of exercises to do for all body parts and it's very easy to change the settings. Well built also.

I bought my Total Gym XL in May 2006, it arrives fully assembled and sets up in minutes. After 4 months my Total Gym XL is showing no signs of wear and tear. Its unique ability to fold is a big plus for me as I live in a small apartment. It’s a great machine to build or tone muscles (especially abs), and increase your energy level. Workout DVDs, flip chart and exercise poster are very helpful in the beginning. After few weeks Total Gym XL exercise routine will become a second nature to you. Workout video explains each exercise in depth so it’s virtually impossible to make a mistake. Switching from one exercise to the next is fast and easy. The bottom line is Total Gym does what the infomercial says it will do. Limitation: Total Gym XL allows a maximum weight of 400 lbs

10 years ago I was injured in a car accident and along with severe whiplash developed Fibromyalgia. The problem with fibromyalgia is you must exercise (or it gets worse) and you can't overdue it (or it gets worse). The neuro surgeon I was seeing for the headaches recommended I try the Total Gym. He said it might help as it is your weight that works the machine and you either "can" do it or you "can't" - the key being not to overstress the muscles. He was right, it was the only exercise equipment (besides walking the treadmill/gazelle) that didn't cause me extensive after-exercise pain. These days I don't use it as often (just lazy) but I highly recommend it and would never part with it. This is a very sturdy piece of equipment, well put together, easy to use and more than reasonable in cost.

One of the few infomercials that delivers what it advertises. There's a lot of gadgets out there for sale, I can honestly say that this one does give you a great workout, without all the impact. It's very versatile and can be of benefit for anyone, even for those who are not the most athletic. Best thing is, as advertised, you dont' have to spend hours at a time to get a workout, just a few minutes, then you're done, a few hours later, you'll feel the effects of the workout. Weeks later, all the benefits.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! I absolutely love my Total Gym and have found it's the easiest way to get in shape even if you only spend a short amount of time on it. Great results fast!

I have had my Total Gym Ultra since January of 2002. All I can say, it is an incredible machine. It lives up to what it claims. I have been able to control my weight, and increase muscle mass. I used to work out with free weights for years; this machine is able to give you that type of work out and more. I use my Total Gym 6 days a week, because I love it and look forward to my workouts. As with any equipment with moving parts, over time you may have to replace the cables and rollers, but that is to be expected. If you contact customer service they are more than happy to help you. They provide Fantastic customer service. If you want to get in shape, and use a piece of equipment you'll enjoy, and see the results, I totally recommend the Total gym.

I tried this product, I had the best results on this machine than any other system. We bought the total gym elite several months ago, and it is so easy to adjust except for a couple problems with the seating platform carabeaner underneath the seat pinching a few times when using the leg pully, it was great!

I can tell you that I was happily surprised when my Total Gym came home. It was easy to set up and when you actually exercise on it, you do get great results. I'm glad I bought it.

I purchased this product in summer of 1997. Very versitile, you can do lots of exercises. great 4 strength training, and stretching. The roller bearings make alot of noise now,and i cracked the weld on the footboard attachment. Not bad considering how much i have used it. Im sure they make them better now, and cheaper im sure.

Bought my TotalGym XL in August of 2003 at which time I had to sit down to rest after walking from the back of my house to the front. Now, April 2006 (970 straight days working out), I have the strength and balance to train and play with my Anatolian puppy who weighs 127 to my 107 pounds. Use of the TotalGym has increased my strength and endurance more than I could have imagined. My friends say I look "great" and at age 63 that's something! Setup and fold down was very hard at first - now it's easy. The TotalGym XL gave me back an active life!

I bought this on the recommendation of friends who were satisfied users. It's an ingenious machine that delivers results--as solidly built as I would want. My only complaint is that it's not a quick and easy set-up/knock down item. It's best if you can leave it in place. Also, changing exercises can be a drag, since it requires removing the handles, or repositioning pins and raising the level of one end (requires strength and patience). I guess there's some conditioning in that, but it does detract from motivation.

Very effective, but not durable enough. My wife used it first and after a couple of months the cable snapped. I replaced the cable with a heavier duty cable. I started using it (and I was right at the 300lb limit it was rated for). With both of us using it regularly the rollers wore out so that they didn't roll smoothly and eventually one of the bolts running through the middle of the rollers broke. I replaced all of the ball bearings and supporting bolts with heavier duty products. It has worked fine ever since and is very effective for weight reduction and toning, but it is my impression that it was built assuming that most installations would only use it for a short while.

I used the model 1000 for about 4-5 years more on than off till I started utilizing H.I.T. High Intensity Training methods(high poundage & low reps). At that point it took me less than 6 months to outgrow my model 1000 even stacking freeweights on the board. For general stamina and moderate strength gains this is money well spent. Despite stacking upwards of 200 Lbs. then adding my body weight of 180 Lbs. this machine remained in one piece down to the minimal # of plastic pieces this unit has. Easy to use and wonderfully over-engineered at least for durability. The only downside to my unit was the limited poundage one could use.

I have had my Total Gym XL (the one with Chuck Norris & Christie Brinkley) for 2 months now and I think it's a great fitness product. I really didn't work out that much pior to owning the Total Gym, just the treadmill. But after only using it for 2 months, only 15 minutes every other day, I feel so much stronger! My "wings" are firming up, I'm starting to loose some of my stomach from having kids years ago, and I'm actually getting a full night of sleep in! I strongly recommend using this product... it's not like lifting weights, it's more like floating through a workout. You work all the muscles, but don't strain the joints! It's the only fitness product I need for my home!
