Worst product

9/4/2007 - Harry of New Jersey, USA writes:

Tobi is the worst product I ever purchased. I tried it for 15 minutes on a cloth shirt and found that the wrinkles remained very obvious. Even with the help of an ironing board, Tobi could not remove wrinkles at the sawing lines and the edge. I tried it for 10 minutes on a pair of linen pants with an ironing board. It did not remove the wrinkles at all. I tried Tobi for 20 minutes on a thick curtains. It did not remove most of the wrinkles. Fact is that Tobi does not work at all. I felt misled by Tobi's TV commercial. Do not buy this product.

WORKS GREAT

8/31/2007 - Judi of Texas, USA writes:

I had trouble with it when I first received it. Took it apart and reset everything to make sure I'd put it together right and it works GREAT now. I love it sure is easier on the back than using an iron. I just wish the holder was a bit taller. Judi

8/27/2007 - Anonymous of California, USA writes:

I wish knew about this website before I bought it. It was hard to use because the hanger swing around and caused water spots. It's runs out the steam after a few minutes of use. Don't waste your money and time buying this.

Almost returned it... but now LOVE it!

8/24/2007 - Jasmin of New Jersey, USA writes:

When we got the Tobi, we were so excited because we hated ironing with a passion. We were initially disappointed because not a lot of steam was coming out even after 10-20 minutes. We were going to return it when we accidentally tilted it forward and I guess that started the steam rolling. So now it does really steam up in 30 seconds, and it the steam comes out strongly. I think I can iron 10 times faster than an regular iron, and it does a better job. Now we've tried it on all kinds of clothes, bedding, pillows, and curtains. We love this product, but I guess getting that first steam primed is the trick (too bad they don't mention this anywhere on the instruction manual). Buy the Tobi if you hate ironing, just be patient in getting it to work the 1st time.

Get the old iron back!

8/24/2007 - Jorge of Florida, USA writes:

I'm a college student living in a dorm and i HATE ironing, when i saw this i though it came from heaven... so i bought it. Man was i ripped off. The first time i tried it, it was a pain, first of all the tank leaked everywhere, got water all over my floor and after a while of trying to steam the clothing, the handle got burning hot, very unconfortable to handle. It wouldn't work unless the hose was straight, don't ask me why, doesn't make sense the hose needs to be straight for the steam to go through it. It also barely had much steam power, it worked kind of well for lighter clothing but when it came to my cotton polos and jeans i spent 2-3 times more time trying to pull and steam for it to work than with the old iron. So yeah, waste of money, and after reading some of these reviews i'm guessing that the only one ever manufactured that actually works was the one on the infomercial.

Worth keeping

8/23/2007 - Erin of Wisconsin, USA writes:

I got it a couple weeks ago and like it! I haven't tried it on drapes or anything, but it works well on my clothes. Its definitely faster and easier than ironing. It gets my wrinkles out just fine and I am able to get a crease in my work pants. The handle does get warm, but its not hot, you can hold it just fine. Overall, it doesn't work just like the infomercial, but it works good enough to keep and use.

Don't waste your money

8/18/2007 - Terhi of Etela-Suomen Laani, Finland writes:

Tobi steamer is really waste of your money! Can't really compare it with the good old iron. Tobi was also unpleasant to use, because the handle becomes far too hot - it feels dangerous. The steaming result is bad. The only good thing is, that it is possible to send Tobi back to the seller without any cost.

Tobi Steamer

8/16/2007 - Shirley of North Carolina, USA writes:

Whew. I finally got the Tobi mailed back to CA. I had the thing packed up as soon as I used it. What a farce! My $30.00 steam iron produces more steam and clothes really come wrinkle free! I purchased the Tobi to steam sheers and lightweight draperies. It (Tobi) is a totally non-functioning machine. I should have known better, though. It's made in China. I don't believe that was listed in the television infomercial. Do not waste hard earned American dollars on this product. Besides, it's dangerous! Thank you.

Don't get suckered in

8/14/2007 - Anastasia of Virginia, USA writes:

I wish I had found this site before I purchased the Tobi. I was so excited when I finally received it, but soon was very disappointed. Where do I start???? In filling the tank with water and placing it back down into the actual machine, it leaks water all over the place. You think they could have a stopper when the tank is upside down to avoid having water drip and spill every where. I soon discovered that there isn't as much steam as I expected. It does produce steam quickly, but not as much as needed to iron out any wrinkles on any heavy materials/clothing. It does a great job on lighter clothing, such as rayon, silk, polyester blends. But try to iron anything heavy such as cotton (polo shirt, dress shirts/blouses). I did find that if I pull on the bottom clothes so they are taught, it's much better at removing the wrinkles, but keep your finger clear. I've burned myself a few times in doing this. That leaves the bottom edges full of wrinkles. As the infomercial claims that it can add creases??? HA! Not in any of my clothing, unless it was by accident in the wrong place or basically a wrinkles. But definitely not in any heavier items. I still use this for some fast touch ups in the morning, but this is after I've already ironed. I should have returned this product and gotten my money back.

Worthless -- Do Not Buy

8/7/2007 - Jackie of Maryland, USA writes:

I was very excited to get this and so disappointed with how poorly it works. Not only does it not remove wrinkles, it leaked all over my floor while I was trying it. Complete junk!

Don't buy it!

8/7/2007 - Sherry of South Carolina, USA writes:

Although Tobi claims that it will work well on all fabrics, they don't list linen specifically. Now I know why. It is a waste of time and money. I've returned the product. I'm paying for the inflated shipping charges and now paying to send it back. Save your money. It would be cheaper and better, to have someone iron your clothes if you don't want to do it yourself.

Don't buy the TOBI

7/30/2007 - Granis of Rhode Island, USA writes:

I just tried my Tobi steamer for the first time and it barely made any steam unless the stiff, hard to maneuver black hose was perfectly straight. Even then, the wrinkles did not come out because of insufficient steam. I had a cheap travel steamer that worked far better than the expensive Tobi I just bought. Don't waste your money. I will be checking into the [] steamers instead.

Works - But Not As Good As It Says

7/27/2007 - Voni of Washington, USA writes:

Jury is still out. So far works well on silks and silk like polyester blends (like blouses, camisoles, etc). The thinner the material, the easier it works. The hose must be extended well in order to get good steam to come out. Didn't heat up in 30 seconds like it said. 1st time took about 5 minutes before steam would come out. Then as I turned it off and then came back and turned it on it really did only take 30 seconds before steam would come out. Things like cotton shirts or heavier blends - more difficult. You need to pull the clothing item taut and move the steam handle very slowly and deliberately in order to get most of the wrinkles out and it must be right on the fabric - not hovering above it. Doing that on the flimsy plastic arm provided is a struggle. Easier than an iron? Hmmmmm - maybe if my entire wardrobe were silk shirts. Going to try it on a few more things like jeans, slacks, etc. before I decide. Right now - not sure if it's worth the money. But man the commercial is good - very believable.

Don't buy Tobi steamer. Its TV Ad is miss leading!

7/27/2007 - Chao of California, USA writes:

I spend lots of money for dry clean. One day I saw the Tobi TV Ad. It seems worked so well and it costs only 3 times of my average dry cleaning cost. So I ordered one and it came 6 weeks later. Last night, my wife asked me to help iron a pair of pants while she was putting the baby to sleep. I was so excite to try the Tobi the first time. Unfortunately, I was so disappointed. The steam came out so little and it only last for couple seconds. And the instruction manual was missing page 4,5, 10 and 11. I was patiently tried for 30 minutes and it was not even done then I decided to give up. The Tobi steamer does not work like the TV Ad shows at all. I would be happy to pay double if it works like the TV Ad. Please don’t buy the Tobi steamer. It was a missing leading TV Ad.

Do not buy

7/26/2007 - Paul of Maryland, USA writes:

My wife bought this for me as a birthday gift. I was excited to use it because when I used to work retail, we used steamers to reduce the wrinkles on the products we were to display. I won't say that it doesn't work because it does, just not well enough. The steam isn't continuous; there are still wrinkles; and it's hard to keep the shirt still. I plan on returning this product and going back to my iron.

Wish it Would have worked

7/17/2007 - Cynthia of Georgia, USA writes:

When I seen the infomercial for the first time I fell in love with the idea. I couldn't wait to get it, because I just knew my "ironing" life would be made simpler. I did everything I could to make it work but it turned out that it utilized more of my time in doing so. While trying to steam an article it moves around thus causing you to hold it and burning your hand. The hose gets HOT and the steam does stop and you have to wait for it to restart again. I'm going back to the Iron where I know my clothes will look good and I'll not be wasting my time.

works fine for me!

7/10/2007 - Cheryl of Ontario, Canada writes:

The Tobi steamer works well for me. I don't HAVE to have pressed shirts/pants so the crease is a non issue for me. It does a great job on t-shirts and golf shirts as well as casual pants and skirts. It takes very little time compared to ironing. One problem I had with no steam coming out was because I didn't have the water compartment pushed on completely. If you wear mostly casual clothes, and don't like wrinkles, this product may work for you too!

It's like an instant sauna...

7/6/2007 - Stefan of England, UK writes:

My mom spends half her life ironing and so I thought that the TOBI would be a perfect birthday present. How wrong I was! The steam has absolutely no power whatsoever and instead filled our living room with sticky condensation. After around 15 minutes of effort by my mother and I, we were able to remove hardly any wrinkles from a mildly wrinkled shirt. The garment attachment is so flimsy that even touching a shirt with the steam head sends the shirt swaying back and forth! I can honestly say that this product was an absolute scam and was shocked to see that Thane Direct removed my testamonial, as I did not 'love the TOBI.' Please take my comments into consideration and steer clear of this product. I'd flatten wrinkles better by sitting on them.
