Product Description
The Weight Loss Cure "They" Don't Want You to Know About is a book by Kevin Trudeau. The infomercial features Donald Barrett posing as a talk show host. The Weight Loss Cure is not a diet, according to the infomercial. Trudeau maintains that there is a cure for weight loss that was discovered in 1956 by a British medical doctor. He also claims that the "cure" for weight loss has been "suppressed by the American Medical Association, the FDA, and medical associations around the world." 9/11/2008 - Dennis of NY, USA writes:
The books are written in common-sense language, and most of the cures actually address common problems that most people do not know about. For starters, the books suggest avoiding chemicals that are added to foods. Most people think those chemicals are harmless, and the manufacturers sponsor scam studies suggesting that they do not make you fat. However, the chemicals are in fact stored in fat. This makes the body store more fat to dilute the poisons, and that makes you fat. MSG and high fructose corn syrup even tamper with your appetite, making you hungry (or addicted), which in turn makes you fat. Eliminate these poisons, and you eliminate the source of the problem. There are a few minor items that are questionable, as the book is written from a [] viewpoint. I would suggest doing research from independent sources before trying some of those recommendations. However, by simply cleansing your body, you rid it of poisons that are helping keep you fat. And, if you avoid most of the foods that have those chemicals, you avoid most of the poisons in the first place. And, even if you don't lose any weight, your health will probably still improve. Without the poisons, you are less likely to fall prey to diabetes, heart disease, and/or cancer. And, that means fewer trips to the hospital and pharmacy. And less time out sick from side effects from drugs (because you will not need them). I recommend giving this book a fair chance before bashing it. If you have any questions, research the suggestion with independent sources before deciding. However, I believe the book is at least 80% sound despite the [] bias.

I did in fact read this book, but made no serious attempt at the phases because, honestly, it's too much money and work. The man constantly contradicts himself. For instance, one of the big sellers was that exercise was not required, but when you look at the phases you see that yes, in fact, it is if you want results. He also has you getting a bunch of strange health items that would probably do the weight-loss job without the help of the book. He recycles a bunch of concepts from every diet advice program ever, leaving nothing original only an awkward, patchwork program. One of my favourite parts was when he was talking about the women subjects he met at the mysterious German institution who lost weight everywhere but their breasts, which actually became firmer. Uh-huh. When looking through his footnotes, half his references are from his other book (you don't quote yourself to prove a point) and the others were random and had nothing to do with his arguments. He made reference to one New York Times article often, and never gave a proper citation.

For all rating this a 1 or 2: your reviews don't even match what he talks about in the book: its clear that yall didn't read the same book the good reviews read. He explains that the hCG produced in pregnant women (which is how pregnant women revert back to skinny after giving birth) can be used to loose weight. I know it sounds skeptical but whats the worst you'll loose, weight? I'm not obese but I know after I give birth to kids one day: i can follow the protocol (cause I'll already have the hCG in my system) and get my body back in no time. Thats all in Phase 2: i have already lost 7 lbs following Phase 1.

Alright. This is also another product I have actually tried (I am a book worm), and wow.... I have read this from one end to another. Lets look at it foremost and see what is neglected. First off if the buyer went to buy this off the infomercial, wow, you must be looking for the quick and easy cure. The host, for one, also had another book before for curing anything, even cancer.... Clue that this is another book of hype. Secondly, I am not fat, I am built, but have some ailments do to allergies, and minor other things. The points spread out in this book is nothing but recommendations. There is nothing you couldnt speak to a medical doctor, a trainer, or look up. If you do not spend the time to research then most likely you wont spend the time following this book. Why recommend? If you were told to do something by the author, and do it and it fails, or even do it incorrectly, he might have some liability issues. It is not hard medicaly to raise your metabolism. It is not hard to find out if you have other underlying issues to your weight gain. What is hard is to convince people that This is a secret no one wants you to know. So here is my secret, read the book if you really want. Follow the recommendations so long as a doctor allows you too (In some cases). But do your own research to save money instead. It's not hard, and some common sense and a kick in the backside is all you need. Wording is key, there is no magical cure for weight loss, just work and effort (Or surgery, or other means in severe cases, or for those who can afford such.) Most problem people lack is motivation, a good writer or speaker can change that. Take it for what its worth.

I found it very funny that every bad post about this book was from a customer that did not try what it said to do in the book. Why are you writing a review saying it doesn’t work when you haven’t even tried it? That makes no sense to me. I was very excited to read this book, which I found by accident, and even more excited when I finished reading it. The weight loss cure is called phase 2, which KT tells us is the only thing you need to do to lose weight successfully. KT does mention a lot of things (mostly in phase 1) that are RECOMMENDED. To recommend means to suggest or advise. So many people complained about all the things they HAD to do when he simply recommends them. I laughed when I read people talking about how expensive colonics is. On page 95 of the book, the following sentence is above the suggestion for colonics: IT IS ENCOURAGED, BUT NOT REQUIRED, THAT YOU DO THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES. Do I need to explain what the opposite of required means? If you haven't read KT's book cover to cover and researched about [] or gone to his website and heard about testimonies from people on it that have lost a ton of weight doing phase 2, then you shouldn't be qualified for writing a review. I am in the middle of phase 2 and have lost 16 pounds. I ordered HCG online for $80. I have never done colonics and am not even sure what it is. I buy organic food and take HCG just like the protocol says. It works. You'll notice that the people that have successfully done phase 2 all rate the book good. They didn’t just read something and assume it didn’t work because it sounded different. If I sound rude in this post, it's because of reading all the other stupid, ignorant posts from other people.

This product is a waste of money. Do not give up on science and pharmaceuticals for the advice of this quack. Herbs have their place, but any weight loss program or health care issue should be done with a physician's care.

I read this book because I have morbidly obese family members. However, I am at a healthy weight. In the beginning the book was repetitive but as soon as the book started to explain the cure I realized that these would be great things for me to try. In general the book encourages you to be more aware of the quality of food and or products you put in or on your body. The author gives plenty of references and reasons why we should be more aware as consumers. I didn't try HGC but I have been following the 1st protocal and I have noticed a boost in energy. As a person who doesn't have a weight problem I felt this book may have helped me to prevent having one in the future.

Oh my God, this was such a bad experience it was unreal, bought it, tried it, left it on my mantel to remind me never to trust this guy again. Anyone saying this works must be getting paid by this guy to lie. All it is, is a add to get more money from you. The only thing that got thin was my wallet. This guy should be arrested and convicted for what he is doing here. I guess the money I wasted on this was spent to help other people know not to fall for it, by posting my experience here. I only hope there is a hell, so people like this have a place to go when they pass on. Sorry to be so negative, but I really feel like I was robbed, not once, but many times over.

This book is great if you do read the whole book and follow the instructions you will lose weight. I just finished Phase 2 and lost 30lbs. I still have another 70lbs to lose and fully plan to use this diet to do so. I actually used the pills and had great luck and for anyone that can stay dedicated I would recommend this.

Did you notice that people that did not like the book do not even know what HCG stands for and they believe it is growth hormone? I, personally, did not inject HCG, but after I had a miscareage I still had a pretty high dosage of HCG in my blood, so I decided to check if it works. As you might guess, I did not do any of Phase 1, I jumped straight into Phase 2. Since I had the HCG in my blood all I needed to do is follow the diet steps, and guess what, in 5 days I lost 18 pounds. (I did not have any weight after the baby because it was only 6 weeks old.) Do injections work? I dont know, I did not try them but natural way worked. So suit youself.

People....People....People !! I can tell that some of the posters on here didn't even read the book, let alone try the Protocol. It is NOT HGH Human Growth Hormone. It is hCG Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin. This is not supposed to be a 'quick fix'. It is a way to re-set your Hypothalamus and Metabolism so you lose the abnormal fat and never gain it back. You have to follow the Protocol!! I lost 24 lbs on Phase 2 and I'm thrilled. I will finish Phase 3 soon and return to Phase 2 for the next session of lbs loss. It really has worked for me and I've tried all of the 'others', []and many more crash type hype diets. If you follow it...it will work. I only did a portion of what Kevin suggests. My Naturopathic Doc has many people doing this Protocol under her care. The ones who follow it and actually do it instead of whine about it are the ones who benefit. I Love It !!!

4/23/2008 - Christy of IN, USA writes:
I want everyone to know that this protocol is absolutely wonderful! You must really participate in it before you can actually post a review. KT is in the "bad eye" only because of the FDA. I can guarantee you that it does NOT cost alot of money to do this! I am a single mother of 3 children with only my income of $25000 a year. I paid $150 TOTAL for my 3 months of HCG (Which, by the way, is NOT a growth hormone!) I researched this diet for 5 months before I started it. When I started, I was mentally prepared as well as armed with the information I needed to understand WHY and HOW this diet works! I was on it for 42 days and lost 32.5 pounds! I plan to do a second round of phase 2 after a 6 week break (which is recommended so that you do not build up an immunity to the HCG) There is a support group for this protocol through [], and encourage anyone considering this diet to seek answers there. This is from real people actually DOING the diet! Not from someone who bought the book, read bits and pieces and draws a conclusion that is not even close to the facts. I cannot express to you how good I feel on this protocol, and it is not the impossible diet that many people have come to believe!

I was duped! I spent over fifty dollars on this book! Not only that, but all it said was I needed a colon cleaning over and over. It was repeating through out the whole book the same thing. The other things suggested are really expensive procedures. I tried to get my money back, but it would of cost me half of what I paid for it to be returned. Never buy anything from this guy. He's one smooth talker.(snake)

If I can rate this a 0, I would. Save your money. He does not give you any information. You need to pay extra to get full information.

Terrible terrible terrible. This will work for you if you're rich! According to him you will have to take daily this stuff: 1.- 4 cups of different teas. 2.- 2 pills of 7 different bottles of vitamin supplements. 3.- A shower filter. 4.- An antielectronic wave device. 5.- Growth hormone. Terrible expensive and terrible for your health. And everything you eat has to be organic. This system will cost 2500 dollars a month if you follow the steps that he states on this book. Pretty good book ehh! And also he says that you never gained your weight back. And that's a lie, if you eat other stuff that he reccommends you will get fat again!!! You better do exercise and have a will power when eating becomes your problem. Eat a balanced diet and 6 times a day, And don't consume anything with grease other than vegetable oil. If you follow these steps I will assure you can loose weight and have the best of life. this small explanation works better than kevin trudeau's book and I really know what I'm talking about. This book is the cure for insomnia because as soon as you read it you fell asleep faster than any sleep pill on the market. Lunesta, Ambien and those prescription sleep pill drugs, should claim a lawsuit against this guy, he is going to bankrupt those companies. I hope my review helps at least a bit.

Fortunately, I got a hold of his books at the library... no cost! But as I began to read, I realized this guy is a quack! The statement that really made me wonder where he gets his info was when he stated that wild animals don't die of disease... REALLY??? Are you kidding me? What planet is this guy on? There were some other outrageous claims so I just took the books back to the library. No harm, no foul... just won't get that time back I spent reading it.

Got the book for $1 at a local library book sale last January 2006. After reading the first 60-70 pages full of the infomercial material it goes into Dr. Simeon's protocol. It is costly and not very healthy. At least the Growth Hormone part. The colonics are ok but expensive and someone like me without insurance cannot afford so many of them. Well on my weekly visit to do groceries I saw a flyer for a product called Isagenix, [] and after looking at the informative videos on the site decided to give it a try since they are based on vitamins and minerals. All natural and safe. And this products plus sensible eating habits did the trick and I lost the 40 pounds needed safely and naturally. The Trudeau book I will just donate back to the library.

The story of obesity, is the story of habits and self talk. I have been battling my weight since I was 13 years old, today I am 39. I have had 3 children, and been 96lbs over weight. I have currently lost 30 of those pounds. This program has saved my life. Yes it works, but only if you go into it knowing it will. Only if you stop saying 'I am so fat', only if are determined to become a new you. Americans are fat pigs!! And I am one of them, but no more. Eating like this has changed my way of looking at food. I have so much energy during the day, and my clarity of thinking is the best ever. I can feel my body being healed of years of abusing it, and I feel clean on the inside, not full, gassy, bloated, etc. People can make fun of Kevin and this product, but I thank God for it, because losing weight quickly is way more motivating than going to the gym all the time and see 5lbs come off in a month. 30 lbs in 30 days for me and I am going to keep on going. This is a life style change, a mind change, a spiritual change. You cannot keep the same thought patterns and change the way you view food and the way you eat. Food can be your enemy if your not careful.

Please read this!.... When I first started reading the book, I was excited to see what it was all about. However, when I got into the "phases" and what's actually expected of you, I was greatly disappointed and thought it was bogus, like many other reviewers here. However, unlike those other reviewers, I did more research on Dr. Simeon's protocol and Hcg and how it all works. It is Not impossible to order the Hcg in the USA, nor is it too expensive for the results it can bring. I didn't actually do much of a Phase 1 at all honestly, I jumped right into Phase 2, and I lost 16 pounds in the first week and a half. I feel better and look better already! I'm amazed. Phase 2 is not just a diet, it changes your whole mentality on eating, and THAT is what I need most, especially to keep the weight off in the future. I'm SO glad I did this and didn't give up on it after simply reading the book! Do The Research On Dr. Simeon's Protocol!! The book itself, eh, I would give maybe 3/5 stars because it's so repetitive and misleads readers into thinking they have to to much more than they actually do. But the original protocol it comes from is the only weight loss program I will ever use!!!! It's awesome!
