Pillow from Hell

10/30/2008 - Ed of Ontario , Canada writes:

I received a Tempurpedic pillow as a Christmas gift because my son knew that I had problems with my sore neck. I had tried many types of pillows before. All I can say is that this is the worst pillow that I ever had. In summer it holds in all the heat and humidity making one feel very damp. In cooler weather, the pillow becomes as hard as a brick..literally. Speaking to the company produced zero results. Never again!

Horrible odor!

9/1/2008 - Carolyn of GA, USA writes:

I was told by the delivery men that the product went right from manufacturing to sealed plastic bag, and it takes about a week to outgas. He lied! Even with the A/C fan running constantly and the windows opened, the odor did not go away. I slept in another room for 3 1/2 weeks, but I finally returned it. My daughter got one, and it took about 2 months for the odor to go away, but she says she can still smell it when she changes the sheets. Everyone's right about the pillows, they'll kill your neck!

now I cant sleep without it, damn you tempurpedic

8/16/2008 - John of Florida, USA writes:

First off let me say I am a licensed massage therapist. Originally, my wife and I purchased a latex foam knock-off said to be the same thing. We had it replaced 3 times due to it breaking down in the middle. We had dreams of climbing out of a hole for weeks. Finally the third time we insisted the retailer trade it out for the real deal. It was like sleeping on a stick of melting butter. We have had this bed for 3 years now and still feel it was the way to go. I have heard of people complaining about it trapping heat while sleeping on them, I know for a fact that Dupont makes a slipcover that reflex this problem. I tell all my clients to buy one when they are looking for a new mattress. Now our only problem is we can't take it with us when traveling.

I like our bed

7/26/2008 - Bret of WI, USA writes:

We have had the bed for about 18 months now and we really do like it. It is an adjustment, the bed comes very firm and over time it softens up. The smell does take about a month to disappear. We had a 90-day in-home trial period. There were several times I considered returning it based on how hard it was and the awful smell. However, after about two months we had forgotten all about it and when I asked my wife if she liked the bed and wanted to return it she felt she was sleeping great and wanted to keep it. I travel a lot and I do sleep best in this bed. The bed is supposed to keep it’s sleeping characteristics for 20 years, I hope that is true. Beds are a very personal preference and I recommend that anyone who is going to sink several thousand dollars into a bed needs the flexibility to try it out for more than a month to know if it will work for you for the long haul.

Has been a great bed

7/21/2008 - A.D. of KY, USA writes:

Purchased first tempur-pedic in 2001. Was quite an expense but worth every penny. Used to work back to back shifts that were sometimes 24-36 hours and would get hip pain catching up on my sleep. No more hip pain with this mattress. I am a pretty static sleeper, but haven't had any problems getting out of bed or repositioning (even in pregnancy or post c-section). Didn't like the pillows at first--but now prefer them and can't sleep with a fluffy pillow. Husband tosses and turns a lot. Not his favorite mattress, but he has gotten used to it.

Fantastic

6/22/2008 - Dan of MI, USA writes:

I have one for over 4 years. About a year ago, my 90 year old mother bought one as did my 88 year old Aunt. They both love their Tempur-Pedic. I love it, 5 stars all the way. My wife is a solid 4 stars. On cold nights it is a little firm until You warm it up. All back and shoulder pains went away. My mom says she sleeps better than ever. Takes a couple of weeks to get use to it, but now I have a hard time to get a good nights sleep without it.

Want to sleep on a brick?

6/11/2008 - Twiggy of PA, USA writes:

It felt like sleeping on a brick! I thought that once it was "worn in" it would become more soft, however it did not. It could be because I only weigh 100 lbs and not much weight presses into it, I don't know. I agree with the smell though. I was told it had to "air out" but it took all month and it too made me sick. The pillows were as hard as a rock, my son even asked me why the pillows were so hard. These beds are a passing fad with the waterbeds and I returned it and spent my money on a nice pillowtop mattress!

No mor shaky bed

5/19/2008 - Katie of Los Angeles, CA, USA writes:

My parents bought the Tempur-Pedic mattress topper a few years ago while my mom was going trrough chemo. Their mattressm (cal-king) was very firm and it was getting painful to sleep on. The topper was cheaper than the full mattress is, but it worked great. No bedquakes when someone else lays down, and its softer on the joints. We had to toss it when it got dog wee-wee on it, so if you fork out for this and have pets, a waterproof layer might be a good idea. It did have that funky smell when it was first unrolled, but that does go away after a bit. Crack a window and you'll be fine. Overall, a great product, not cheap, but VERY comfortable.

6 years and still loving it!

5/1/2008 - Kim of KS, US writes:

My husband and I were buying a couch and wandered into the mattress dept. After laying on the Tempur-Pedic for a while we started talking about buying one, which we did. We love it. Yes, it is expensive but seems to be holding up to all of it's claims and we've had it for 6 years. When we bought it there was only one model. We are condsidering buying a King sized and putting the Queen in the guest room. Have had friends sleep on it and they love it, too! They have even threatened to move in with us if we did. My husband and I do notice in the summer that we tend to get warm, but I have a thin quilt for warmer months and a down comforter for cold. This seems to take care of the problem for us. I can't wait to get in bed at night and highly recommend this product to anyone.

Does crush down

3/16/2008 - Fran of PA, USA writes:

I purchased this very expensive bed for my husband after he became bedridden. The mattress crushed down so that he almost rolled out of bed. When I laid on it I could not believe he stayed in bed at all. When I called the company they told me do not warrant this bed to the disabled. How do you like that for honesty!!!!

Love it

3/10/2008 - Geoff of Virginia, USA writes:

My wife and I bought our bed from a major name furniture store, it's a queen Tempur-Pedic and adjustable AND has the vibro massage. Was expensive at $2500, but the bed and massive headboard were/are worth every penny. Wife has curved back and we both sleep like babies on this matress. Kinda pain to change sheets on, and moving it sucks! (Navy - moves a lot)

Not Impressed

2/12/2008 - Lionel of California, USA writes:

My husband and I bought the classic queen size mattress. The store representative mentioned that the mattress needed to "degauss" for one week. The smell was so potent that it gave me severe headaches that I slept in another room. After three weeks, the smell was still in the room. I was very, very disappointed in this product and would not recommend it.

TempurPedic is Stinky !

1/2/2008 - Bob of Minnesota, USA writes:

Don't buy TempurPedic ever ! I bought it a couple month ago in [] store, i got free pillows and they told me that they will deliver the mattress in couple days. I brought pillows home, after I opened it, they started to stink. It was so bad that I was not able to sleep on it, and everyone in a home was sick because of the smell of the pillows. Next morning I went to the store returned pillows and demanded to stop mattress delivery and refund me the money I paid. Don't buy this crap ! It is extremely stinky !

Do not buy Tempur-Pedic Pillow

12/11/2007 - Arun of New Jersey, USA writes:

We recently bought the Tempur-Pedic Classic King size mattress from [], expensive but we absolutely love it. We also invested $500 in pillows thinking that we work so hard and should get a good night sleep. BEWARE: Do not purchase the Tempur-Pedic Pillows. They are horrible and your good night sleep will turn into daytime nightmare with neck aches. Tempur-Pedic does not return these pillows but charge ridiculous amounts of monies. So, please do buy the bed but save your money on pillows.

Really Good

11/25/2007 - Jasmine of Ohio, USA writes:

I don't own this bed because it's too expensive for me, but my friend got one for free because her sister won a king size one because she works at the factory.I have slept on it many times. This bed is really comfortable. The only complaints I have is that I get really warm and start sweating, because it's hard to move or rollover so while I'm sleeping I'm in the same exact position all night and it gets kind of hot. I didn't really notice any difference in the amount of energy I have. But it really is very comfortable.

We love it

9/16/2007 - Steven of California, USA writes:

My wife and I purchased the Classic model about 6 months ago and absolutely love it. We felt the higher priced versions were too soft, and felt we sunk in too deep. The Classic was perfect for us. I got shorter pain sleeping on my side on my old mattress and this cured it completely. My wife always had trouble sleeping through the night, but she is doing better with this mattress. A few times during the summer months, I felt a little hot on the bed, but throwing off the top covers and using just the sheet corrected that. I look forward to getting into bed at night and hate to leave it in the morning. We both feel it is the best mattress we ever slept on. We have also slept on a knock off memory foam mattress and it was about 90% as good and 1/3 the price. Well worth considering.

Sleeping on one for 5 years.

8/26/2007 - Robert of Georgia, USA writes:

My wife and I tested the Tempur Pedic mattress at [] store. We bought the queen size about 5 years ago. We find it the best bed we have ever slept on. I often wake up without having changed position. I don't know of any provable health benefits, but it is very comfortable and we have a cat who agrees.

Has its good points...

7/31/2007 - Dana of California, USA writes:

I've had this bed for probably around a year, give or take a few months. I love going to bed, those first few minutes are heaven. The bed is cold and hard... feels wonderful. I fall asleep pretty fast... but half way through the night I have sunk down so low it feels like im touching the box spring. So I get up to use the restroom and I find myself milling around, wasting time, so the bed will re-fluff itself. Getting up/moving around in the bed is difficult, especially if you lay still for an extended amount of time; you have to heave yourself out of the pit you created. The mattress does get warm (great for winter time!). But those first few minutes....ahhhhh so heavenly!

Not worth it!!!

7/11/2007 - Cindy of Washington, USA writes:

Bought the bed hoping to releive our back pain problems. Have bought several beds over the years and nothing works. Tempurpedic looked like the answer, but woke up in more pain AND headaches. The smell of the rubber was horrible, the "lack of pressure points" was a joke. My hips and shoulders always hurt, and it was HOT! It was like sleeping in plastic or with rubber pants on. Then the return policy, you get screwed. Buyer be-ware! Don't fall for the hype, it is the worst bed and way too expensive...$1500+ and the pillows, need to see a chiropractor for that one.

I really like this product, but.....

7/1/2007 - Becky of Kentucky, USA writes:

I purchased my king size Tempur-Pedic about a year ago. I was tired of waking up every morning feeling 30 years older than I am. I no longer have the morning aches and pains I had previously. My only complaint is that it is difficult to turn over in the bed. The expense....pricey, but worth it.
