Got ours October '07. Bought 12 for our family and friends for Christmas. We have 2 that we use many times a week. Absolutely amazing how perfect ie, tender juicy and fast meats are prepared. Also, the drippings can be discarded if unwanted fats or poured on for that fatty flavor burst. Our experience was that boneless cuts give a more predictable result as plates come together better. Fresh veggies, amazing. We highly recommend Rocket Grill. It blows all other indoor grilling devices we have tried away. For those who rated this poorly, give it another try.

Received this as a gift after I had wanted it for so long. I loved it and it was perfect for a single mom. No cleanup, cooked as promised, really fast. I miss it so much. After about 6 months the grill plates stopped coming together and it hasn't worked since. Now it is sitting in my basement collecting dust. :(

I recently bought the Sunbeam Rocket Grill after seeing the product's infomercial. I was looking for a product that offered convenience due to my busy schedule, and had less clean time after usage. I used product once, and the pouchment paper handles became burnt to the point of crumbling when I removed bag. I used the time setting needed for the single serve of frozen chicken I was preparing and the chicken was not cooked at all after the time setting. I had half grilled marks on top of chicken while bottom was left still frozen although again the parchment paper was brown. When I attempted to remove the bag part of the crumbled parchment paper fell in bottom of machine. I returned this product to the store, and asked for full refund. I will definitely would not recommend this machine due to possible fire hazzard because of parchment paper.

I was at [] when I saw this grill on the isle. Another guy walked by and told me he bought the grill because his roommate would never do the dishes. I thought, "I hate doing dishes too!". I was not disappointed. I bought mine for $80 from [] with 72 bags. They had the same grill at [] for $50 but it only included 12 bags. I have used it with chicken so far. It comes out fast, juicy and good tasting. You can see the fat accumulate in the bottom of the bags. Because of its limited capacity, I recommend this unit for one or two person use. The cost of the bags is expensive. I recommend using the %20 off coupon for [] to save money on replacement bags if you have to go to a brick and mortar store or find them online. Unfortunately, as with all "kitchen gadgets", it does take up 15" x 10" on the counter. Also, DEFINITELY pre-heat the oven for 5 minutes (as recommended) before trying to cook anything otherwise the times on the cooking wheel will be inaccurate (too short). Also, be sure to use the frozen setting for thicker cuts of meat. I think it brings the grill faces closer together to provide more heat. Worth the price for under $100 as long as it has an ample supply of bags.

Have had this product for a year. Works good, especially on steaks, burgers, fish. Like the no clean up feature. Had the timer knob break off after about a year, the stem part of it was made pretty weak. An e-mail to Sunbeam, and they responded, and sent a new knob free, a much stronger one. Had to adjust the small screw in the top left corner, was up to high, not letting the lid trip the micrositch, and activate the power. Can get the bags, as well as the ovens at [] or [] now, and save shipping costs.

I am a product design engineer by profession; a gourmet cook by avocation. My wife gave me a Rocket Grill for Christmas, but was so excited that she asked me to open the gift a week early. Within two hours of grilling hotdogs and hamburger patties infused with spices and blue cheese, we stepped up to grilling fresh sliced vegetables (zucchini, squash, red onion, red bell peppers – marinated in olive oil with sage, rosemary, thyme, garlic). Everything turned out perfectly. The Rocket Grill did exactly what it claimed to do. After analyzing the grill mechanically and electronically, we went back to the store and bought three more Rocket Grills, as gifts for selected culinary friends. The real test was grilling the vegetables. That alone was enough to clinch our decision. When I’m preparing prime rib, demi-glaze, mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes, there’s not enough stovetop or oven space for doing a proper vegetable side dish (unless I want to boil something on the back burner…which I don’t). The Rocket Grill pouch holds 14-16 oz of sliced vegetables (3/8” thick slices). It takes 4.5 minutes to grill the veggies, complete with fresh steaming aroma and grill marks. Wow! No other grill I know can do that. If I never cooked another piece of meat in the Rocket Grill, it would still be one of the most useful appliances on the counter. And my time in the kitchen is worth more that 38¢ (cost of a pouch). Having said that, I must admit the concept of hanging a parchment pouch between pressurized vertical grilling plates is pure genius for how to grill meats. The fat flows away but doesn’t escape the pouch. The plates cook from both sides, toward the middle. The heat-ramp is constant, making the only variables “weight” and “time”. If I weigh the food going into the pouch, I know exactly what time setting suits my taste. When cooking is complete, the grilling plates back off and keep the food warm. It’s that simple. It’s like having another cook in the kitchen that knows what to do. Any Negatives? Yes, the name. “Rocket Grill” sounds like it’s for hamburgers. But every tool is only as good as the person using it. I would have called it the “Sunbeam Sous Chef”. Disclaimers? Yes. I am not affiliated with “Sunbeam” or “Infomercials” in any way; and I love hamburgers! Final Comment? Yes. This appliance is truly a hybrid in grilling technology, proving once again that “form follows function”, and, “the simplest solution is often the best solution” – Scott

I have had the Rocket Grill for a month now and I am thoroughly impressed! The Rocket Grill is easy to use, fast, and has virtually NO CLEAN UP! I'm a bachelor and a recent [] subscriber. Of course, grilling is one of the best cooking methods for someone trying to lose weight and I have a number of electric grills and a propane barbecue grill. The propane grill takes too long to fire up, so I had been using my electric grill most of the time. I was not grilling as often, though, because I HATE to clean the grill. It pretty much required hand cleaning to protect the non-stick surface and to get between the ribs. The Rocket Grill has changed everything! Food is placed in a parchment paper pouch before being placed in the grill. The timer is set and the grill plates close on the food. There are two "pressure" settings, one for fresh food and one for frozen food. Once closed, the grill cooks the food to perfection and then the plates open up, stopping the cooking process, but keeping the food warm. There is a drip tray, but I have NEVER seen a spot on it, the juices and fat are trapped in the parchment paper. In a month of use, I have had NO cleanup whatsoever, just throw the empty pouch away. The major "down side" to this grill would be that you must purchase the single-use parchement pouches for the grill to be useful at all. They can be had for anywhere from 20-50 cents, depending on the source and the quantity purchased. You must decide whether the convenience is worth the small extra expense. Also, be aware that this grill's capacity is limited by what will fit in the parchment pouch. It is fine for one or (perhaps) two moderate servings at a time, but you're going to have a tough time using this grill to make 3 or more servings of anything. I had a tendency when first using this grill to overcook items. Often it seems that the time stated in the instructions are too small to cook food properly. They are not! I find that their suggestion is usually appropriate for the item being cooked. Most items cook in 3-5 minutes, including steak! It takes a minute or two longer if the item is frozen solid. You will be amazed at the speed! It is best if you preheat the grill prior to use. That takes two or three minutes. I usually turn the grill and let it preheat while I am placing the food in a pouch. That seems to do the trick most of the time. As you can tell, I love the Rocket Grill and use it almost every day. It is a fine product that performs as advertised.

Picked up the rocket grill yesterday and couldn't wait to use it. Tried it today for burgers and I must say I can't say I have ever had a better tasting burger in my life. It cooked 2 burgers in 5 minutes and they were moist with a taste out of this world. In fact I used the left over ground sirloin to have burgers again for dinner. There was absolutely nothing to clean up. The grill was spotless after each use. Can't wait to try some chicken breasts, steaks, sandwiches, etc. This item is ideal for a one or two person household (although the speed of cooking will work for larger families) for quick, delicious meals. I am ready to toss away the numerous Foreman grills and the like that I have. Liked this so much I went out and bought another one as a Christmas gift. Get one, you'll be very pleased.

I just finished my dinner- done on a rocket grill. It just arrived yesterday, so this is my second day of use and I love it. I also have a Forman grill that I store in the basement because it was too bulky and hard to clean, but the rocket is compact and no clean up required ! So far, I have made a steak, frozen chicken breast, and a fresh tuna steak. All came out perfect. Cripy on outside to seal in the natural meat juices, with lovely deeply coloured grill marks, and the inside of the meat was done to perfection. The method is idiot-proof. Just use the handy time card to select the type of meat to be cooked and set the timer. It dings to alert you that it's ready.
