I purchased the Roomba Discovery a few years ago, and works great. It does take time to clean it up afterwords; I use an air compressor. It did do circles after a while, but like in other post, they sent a software upgrade for free after telling them I had purchased it recently. I had to modify my kitchen so it would not get stuck under the cabinets. I have the Scooba also, and it works great! Saves time, so us Nerds can continue watching the Tele and play on the computer. Cannot give this 5 stars because their are still flaws, but in a few years it should be even better. Beware anyone giving 5 stars, they must be employees for the company.

I purchased a Roomba discovery because I was having a lot of health problems that were preventing me from vacuuming. I found that the Roomba was not really a vacuum at all, just an expensive floor sweeper. It could not do rugs, as it could not take the humongous jump from the hard floor onto the low pole wool rug.. If you picked it up and set it on the rug, it would immediately walk off and get stuck with one wheel in the air, half on the rug, half on the hard wood floor complaining .. it would get stuck under any piece of furniture I had. maybe this thing works well in an empty room with a hardwood floor, but boy, welcome to the real world. I spent more time bending over and picking it up then I would have spent if I would have just used the vacuum or a carpet sweeper. It consistently homed in on anything it should not suck up (like my curtains or the electrical cord of it's home unit) ;it could not handle even a small thread or shred of paper on the floor,I was constantly opening it up and removing these huge implements. When it had any type of problem it would immediately regurgitate anything it had sucked up till then and spit it out all over the floor. My first roomba burned out the day I bought it. After two motor burnouts and one virtual wall death I was accused by the IRobot rep of purposely sabotaging the unit when I called to replace defective brush (the true cause of most motor burnouts). I gave up. I had had it for less than a year and only been able to use it for about two months. I gave my expensive toy to goodwill after that happened, I had had so enough. This is one of the most hyped product on the market and it is also one of the biggest pieces of junk I have ever spent(a lot of) money on. a friend down the street had one also, and got rid of hers also within the year.

I was very exited about my Roomba for about a year. Even bought my mother one for Christmas. It cleans well, both floors and carpets, and has a clever algorythm for cleaning the whole room -- HOWEVER -- My first one had to be replaced under waranty (which they did without hassel), my docking station had to be replaced because they'd given me the wrong model (this took months of calls and emails to track down), and even when these issues were resolved I had to call their Help Line repeatedly. Its sensors get dirty and are difficult to clean, causing it to go in circles. It's wheels lock, causing it to be erratic. Because it's dealing with dirt and dust, it gets very dirty and that interferes with its running, getting in wheels and gears where you can't get too to clean. Just weeks after the last support call, it's broken again! Just goes in little circles. I've attempted all the fixes they previously recommended and no joy. It's sitting unused now. Even when it's working, it requires constant cleaning and is difficult to clean and messy to empty. The technology is not yet here. It's a cheap plastic toy that impresses initially but isn't worth the money. Buy a vacuum cleaner instead!

I love my Roomba! I'm really lazy and kind of slob, so I love being able to just let Roomba roll around the house for an hour while I do something else. It can't get underneath low furniture, and it doesn't into corners very well. So since I have a cat, I have to get out the dustbuster every once in a while and get dusty cat hair out of the corners. So if you wish that your house was clean, but you don't quite care enough to vacuum it yourself on a regular basis, you should get a Roomba. I've had mine for over a year with no problems.

I purchased a Roomba Discovery. WOW, it sure seemed to work for a few weeks. It then stopped working about 15 seconds after starting.I looked online for complaints. Apparently there was a programming glitch. The company was courteous and sent me a device to reprogram it.Yes, it worked. I am reasonably satisfied, but as previous posters note, it is best for surface cleaning of carpet. I'm not sorry I purchased it though would not recommend it to someone who wants it to replace vacuuming entirely or use it on hard surfaces. Note: my sis and her hubby have had theirs for 3 years, trouble-free, and still rave about it. After paying full price for the first, they found it on sale at [] and purchased a second one for 1/3 of the orig. price. My overal rating for me is probably a 6/10.

have had mine for about 18 months..love it..the little guy rolls around and around..until the parameters are established and cleans until he is finished..emptying the bin is not tough..and with cat hair everywhere otherwise...i can set it in the morning..and come home to clean rugs and floors..not good on deep pile or shag (does anyone have shag anymore) but great on low pile and floors..i see someone criticized the battery..if left unused for a while you have to reset..but then it comes back fine..just reading the manual carefully gets you over most problems..and the website..gets you over the rest..if any occur..i want to purchase the 'scoomba' next..the floor washer robot..made by the same company.

We purchased this vac for our basement, which is floor to floor carpet. Other than get stuck it did fine for about 4 months (using once a week), then it started going in circles, then it would not retain battery strength. In order to have repaired you have to spend exorbitant amount for shipping and handling. Not worth it!!!

I liked the convenience at first, however,I soon found that the cleaning itself was not that great and after about a week, it lost it's programmed path and just went in circles. I made sure everything was cleaned, and it never became stuck under anything, but nothing helped. I returned and repurchased the Vac 3 times and returned for a refund after the third time.

I am very impressed with our product. It works just as described on the television. After observations, I concluded that it does not have the smarts to methodically cover every part of the floor an equal number of times. However, due to repetition and sufficient run time, it does do a very satisfying job cleaning the entire floor. Cords, rugs, and clothes all have to be moved out of the way before it runs. These have to be done even with a regular vacuum so they are nvalid complaints to me. Sure, it takes a while for the roomba to finish, so you should just set it to run and then leave the area. Finally, yes, it does return back to its recharger base.

We are emergency foster parents and we have all tile floors. I thought this would really help me out with constant cleaning. We must have our floors clean at all times since we have mostly babies crawling around. I'm always tired and thought WOW, I can use this daily to help keep up with the floors. WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT! The roomba chugs along missing a lot of particle dust etc on the floor! I'd say this is more of a toy because it's fun to watch although a bit noisy. IF you are serious about clean floors, I'd pass on the robot vacuums until they get it right! A $12 swifter did a better job. IF you just want something to clean a very small area it might do ok. Not for the person that really likes CLEAN! I was so excited to get this then so disappointed..it also lasted 6 months and died...save your money!
