UPDATE: I had a little trouble getting some new Proactiv, so I had to use less, which means my skin kind of suffered. I recently purchased some new Proactiv, and after only a couple of days, my skin is already looking better. In a month or so, I will give another update on whether my skin looks like I would like it to. Hopefully its good news!

When I came off the pill after being on it for 7 years non-stop, I broke out in really severe acne several months after which probably wasn't helped by added major stress & late nights of studying for my Bar. My face & neck were completely covered by clumps of red, massive bumps & it was so bad that it was actually putting me off from going outside, which was hard for me because my skin had literally been flawless whilst i was on the pill & even as a teenager, my acne was never this bad! For 6 months, i tried all sorts of expensive face washes & went to even more pricier facial 'treatments' (even spending over $300 on one treatment!), so it did take me a while before i eventually turned to ProActive. I was a bit sceptical at first because my skin seemed to have a bad reaction to it, making it very dry & red & the acne was pretty much the same. But i kept on with it & in about 5 weeks in, i saw subtle differences. Four months using ProActive cleared my skin almost completely, although i still have the scars from botched experimenting with other facial products/treatment. I still get the occasional pimple, but compared to the previous horror, that's really fine by me. I highly recommend for you to try this product & to keep at it for at least 3 months before you write it off completely. I also suggest that if your acne is as severe as mine was, to visit a dermatologist who will prescribe you a higher dosage of 'Benzoyl Peroxide gel' (ProActive gives you 2.5%, I use 5%). Acne can revisit at any time of your time- I'm 25! I'm still using ProActive & will continue to recommend it to anyone who will listen.

I have had clear skin all my life, but now, at 25, I started breaking out like a teenager. For a year now, it has gotten worse and worse! I ordered proactive 2 weeks ago, and since the first day my skin has cleared up drastically. I love the mask!!

When you use Proactiv Solution it will make you break out more but that's not a bad thing, that means it is working. Acne is under the skin so Proactiv Solution pulls it to the surface to cleanse your skin and continual use of the product will keep your skin clearn. I use the product and I love it! The customer service is great, and when it doesn't work they have other options for you. The regular kit was too drying for me and I was using it correctly, when I talked to a service rep they told me they have a gentle formula, so I switched and it works great! I have also order almost ever item out of the catalog and my skin feels soft, clean and it has been clear ever since. It's great for after I work out! I absolutley love the product and I highly recommend it!

For the most part it does work. I've had to deal with acne since my teen years and it hasnt let up. I'm not fond of their auto ship program that you are required to enroll in just to order it though. They have improved the shipping system. You can now customize the shipping to ship anywhere from every 3weeks all the way up to every 14 weeks. You can also change the combination of what products get shipped by logging into your account online. As for the products themselves like I said they work pretty good. My face definately cleared up a great deal and even my family and friends noticed the difference. However it does tend to dry your face out so at times my face felt real tight. I had to find an additional moisturizer for my face. Also when you first start to use it your face tends to turn red. And definately dont get it on your clothes or in your hair. It will bleach! After using it for about 5-6 months it doesnt seem to work as well as the first few months. Im not sure if that is some sort of adaption or what. I have since been using another common brand found in regular stores and it seems to be working even better. But only time will tell...

UPDATE: I bought Proactiv for my husband because he has oily skin and sudden break-outs. He seems to like it tonight after he put it on, however I washed his faced with it and my hands felt like they were on fire. I tried placing creme and aloe on my hands to easy the pain and it took hours for the pain to go away. My husband didnt have a reaction. When I washed his face with a wash clothe, the blue towel turned white. So that should tell all of you how HARSH proactiv is. Benzoyl Peroxide is a chemical they use for dying hair. If you have sensitive skin do not use this product.

I started using this product in the 10th (age 14) grade of high school when I had minimal acne problems. Occasional break outs here and there were my problem. After 8 years of using this product now at age 22, it is probably the most reliable acne control product I have used in the market after using various cosmetic products purchased at deparment stores and not seeing the same results. My skin type is normal to oily and it works great!

I've been using Proactiv for about 8 months now and it works really well for me with some small side items :) First, I recommend buying the 5 piece set (with mask and oil-free moisturizer) instead of the three piece one advertised on the commerical. I have fairly dry skin and the repairing lotion really drys me out. So in the moring I use the Proactiv moisturizer and at night I use the Vitamin E Night Cream from The Body Shop. I'm finally not breaking out all the time and my skin looks and feels great! It did take about a month and a half for full results.

I couldn't use this more than every other day because it dried my skin out so horribly. I MIGHT (debatable) have had a few less pimples, but the flakey and tight skin it left me with wasn't worth it. I told my dermatologist that I used proactiv and she told me that the ingredients weren't any different from other products. And surprise, no she didn't try to sell me an expensive product from her office. AND THE BEST PART!: After I stopped using it, I immediately broke out like I never have in my life. Usually I only break out a little right before and during my period. This was so ridiculous. For 2 weeks I had so much acne... but don't take that as Proactiv was working so well for me.. after those 2 weeks my skin finally balanced out and I realized that I had grown out of my teenage acne. THIS MIGHT WORK WONDERS FOR SOME PEOPLE. I don't want anyone to think that my experience is one that everyone will have, but for my apparently sensitive skin, it wasn't worth the money and discomfort. The flakey skin really made my makeup look horrible. So, for my moderate to light acne, not worth it.

Well I bought the trail size for $19.99 and I've been using it at night for my back. I feel like it made me break out more! A friend told me it brings oil to the surface so you have to keep using so I am still trying.I am not sure they give you enough for how much they tell you to use because 3 weeks in and I am pretty much scraping the bottle. I have not had any cust service problems or shipping problems. So I guess that a good thing. I also notice that the active ingriedient is all the same in all 3 bottles it is benzoyl peroxide 2.5%.

I was referred by a friend who likes it but I didn't like it. I didn't realize you had to sign up for a ongoing monthly supply but did it anyway. My face felt burnt after using. I didn't think the moisturizer was good either. I do have sensitive skin but thought this product was for sensitive skin. When I called to cancel that's when they offered a milder line of product but I declined. My husband said,"stop trying new stuff and go with what we all used, Noxema"! But, anyway, they cancelled with no problem. I think when it comes to different skin types not one product will work for everyone. I was also asked if I used twice a day everyday, I didn't only once a day everyday for a week. My face couldn't take it anymore. It like it strips everything away and I used the conditioner, yet I had to use other moisturizers as well to not feel dried out.

I have been using Proactiv for 2 months now and I have definatly seen a difference! Although I still think that there could be more improvments in my skin though. I really hope that as I continue to use Proactiv, my skin clears up more. I never experianced burning or my face getting worse as a result of Proactiv. You should definatly try it at least. I will update my review in a couple months to see if there is any new progress.

I used proactive for about six montths. I was really excited when I first bought it and spent a great deal of money buying the skin care products, the makeup, masks, moisturizers, etc. My acne did get better, but the results were not as great as what I'd seen on the infomercials. I did find it to be drying, so I only used it before bed each night, and then cleansed with a more mild cleanser in the AM. It worked perfectly on my back and chest, but not quite as well on my face. My face was smoother and softer, and I really liked that. I love the moisurizers and the fact that it works without being greasy. The foundation was expensive and provided cakey coverage. It also stung my face and didn't smell very good. I didn't like the makeup products at all. The body cleanser and face cleanser works-- but the moisturizer is a great buy, is fantastic, and lasts a long time.

I wouldn't be without my Proactiv. I have been using this product since it came out and won't use anything else on my face. I had acne since I was 12.I have used everything possible, from over the counter stuff to doctors prescriptions and NOTHING WORKED! Desperate and watching TV one night, I ordered Proactiv from an infomercial and the rest is history. I can actually go without makeup and feel good about myself. Products are wonderful. I use them morning and night. This stuff saved my self-esteem!! Wish I had pictures of myself before I started to use this stuff,(my face was so bad that I refused to have my picture taken) I would go on TV to tell the world how awesome this stuff is!!!!!!!

I tried Proactiv for almost a month in hopes that it would start working. It only made my acne worse. I had more acne than I've ever had in my life. As soon as I stopped using it, a lot of my acne went away.

I have never tried this product, but my sister did. It does work, but via the mail program, you're automatically sent (and charged for) new bottles every month, even though each bottle lasts at least three months. That seems like a ripoff to me. If there are people with acne so bad that they'll pay this, Accutane is a much better course.

I used this product because a friend recommended it since I was having bad breakouts around my hairline. I saw results in a few days and it was amazing! I recommend this product all the time! If you have really sensitive skin, they have a new line that has some different medicines for those who have had a bad reaction to the original line.

I'm really surprised at the bad reviews for this product. I've been using it for almost 10 years and would recommend it to anyone with acne problems. My acne is usually stress and/or hormone related and Proactiv, while not preventing 100% of my acne, it keeps it well under control. I have never had problems with drying or irritation and I consider myself to have sensitive skin; I'm very light-complected and burn easily. I have found that the manufacturer's suggestion of washing three times a day is excessive. I only use it twice. I truly feel bad for those for whom this product hasn't worked but I doubt I'll ever give it up!

Both myself and my teenage daughter tried it. I have a very light type of acne, almost more like a rash type. I tried it for a few months, it did nothing at all but dry out my skin. My daughter tried it too...she has your typical teenage acne problems... it seemed to help just a little for the first couple weeks... then her acne came ripping back. She started to get really dried out skin and her face turned red and with a rash and it even began to peel... she looked terrible... make-up would not cover it up as it was so dried out and rashy. Sorry it didn't work for us and I find the products too expensive, especially for canadians since we had to pay even more. We also tried the other product for "sensitive" skin. Did nothing at all.
