Ouch!!!

I purchased this product because I thought I had moderately bad acne, little did I know how much worse it could get. After using it for a couple of weeks my face turned bright red and got very painful, I called them and they said that that can happen and to keep using if for the 60 days, so I did, and it got worse. It was so painful that I cried daily and had to buy makeup to cover up the redness. It's been over 3 years now and my face has still not gone back to normal.
It works, but expensive

I've used Proactiv's system for over a year now and I have to say that is DOES clear your skin, however it seems that the effectiveness of it wears off after the initial couple of clear months because I ended up straying to an entirely different regimen since this one stopped working. They have the right idea, Benzoyl Peroxide WILL clear up acne and its definitely worth looking in to if you dont mind spending pretty outrageous amounts of $ each month. I also suggest you use their 5 peice system, not just the three peice because its essential that your skin gets moisturizer while on this regimen, it is very harsh and WILL cause flakes if youre not gentle. But it is worth a shot for anyone suffering from acne as I have been for almost 10 years now.

My sister had a problem with acne after she had her daughter. She started using ProActiv with good results. When I started breaking out, I, too, tried it. It worked well for the several months I used it. I had to stop, though, because my face became very sensitive to the cleanser. It felt like I was using sandpaper on my face. If not for this, I would probably still be using it. The only other thing that concerns me is that you aren't supposed to use this system if you're pregnant...

I began using Proactive in January of 1999 and have loved it since. It made a difference like nothing (both OTC and Rx) else did. In the last 9 years I've been tempted to try other products but have been disappointed each time and come back to my old favorite. One thing I will say is that it's very important to keep up with using the product twice a day, no matter how great your skin looks. I actually go most days without wearing any make up now, and occasionally get lazy and use it only once a day. After several weeks I usually regret it and go back to twice a day. This one is worth it and has worked for everyone else that I know who has tried it. It's real.

I used Proactiv for about 3 years (sometimes off and on). It made my skin really dry and smells horrible, but I kept with it because I was convinced it would help. They're lotion is awful, and I quit using it pretty quickly. Proactiv never entirely cleared my face, and was no more effective regular drugstore salicylic acid. I recommend seeing a dermatologist if you have an acne problem (I finally did) rather than hoping for a miracle product like Proactiv.
Remarkable Difference

I have been using this product for a couple of years. I love it. My skin is softer and blemish free. I used to get big red zits. But no more. If my face starts getting dry, I use a gentle cleanser like Baby Magic and less or no lotion for one wash. My skin tone evened out. I use less make-up now.

I tried Proactiv after seeing Lindsay Lohan on the infomercial. I was so pleasantly surprised that it worked....really well! You have to use it religiously - the cleanser, toner & repair cream (comes in the original discounted pack) - every morning and night, but if you do, it works fabulously. I never had acne problems when I was younger but when I turned 29, I got a weird cystic acne problem on my neck and chin area. This stuff totally takes care of it. I also highly recommend the body wash and lotion and the moisturizer for overnight use that helps with aging -- wrinkles, etc. Freakin' amazing if you use it religiously!!

i was so excited to try this product and was so upset when it didn't work. it cleared up SOME acne but gave my skin a very oily and dirty/greasy feeling. My skin never felt soft or clean with this product. I finally found a different product to help me and am much more satisfied.

I've tried this product 3 times in 4 years but i can never fully continue using it because i just dont like the way it feels on, I need to wear make-up for work and no make-up looks good when you have the lotion & toner applied, not even their make-up. The facewash is so drying i need to put lotion on my hands after and the toner smells like rotten eggs to me. But the most warry thing to me is that after ever time trying it ive noticed that my acne actually gets worse a week after i stop. I would not want to have to use this product for the rest of my life. Its gross to me.
A waste of money

I ordered this product on advice from a friend since it really worked for him. I tried the product for a couple weeks but it severly dried out my skin and made it even worse (I was using the product as per instructions on the booklet and in the proper doses). I called to cancel subsequent shipments and ask them about returning the product for a refund. It took over 5 months for me to get my refund!
Doesn't work on cystic deep acne

I purchased Proactiv for my 16 year old son who has moderate to severe acne with some cystic acne. He used it for 6 months. There was no improvement and actually seemed to have gotten worse. I will admit he didn't have any drying to his skin as he did with previous prescription topicals, but the acne never cleared up. We went back to his dermatologist and told her what he had tried, and she did say it works for mild acne, but will not work on severe acne w/cysts like my son's because it cannot penetrate deep down where it begins. My son's only hope was oral antibiotics and prescription strength topicals.
Worked for a year

Proactiv worked almost immediately and continued to do so up until the year mark. I managed to avoid my skin drying out by using the cleaser in the morning and using the toner and moisturiser at night- this also cut the cost. I agree that the skin must become dependent as with others it stopped being effective. BUT while it worked it was fantastic.

I used proactive for three months and did not see a difference in my acne. I did like how it made my skin feel at first, but the acne eventually got worse. When I tried to return the product, they did not refund my money and tried to talk me into the 10% solution.

I have mild acne and very sensitive fair skin. Pro Activ helped with my breakouts. I did find that it made my skin burn if I applied too much of the repairing lotion but avoided this by using a thin layer on problem areas only. It didn't work at all for my sister-in-law who has more severe acne. She turned me onto Mary Kay skin products and my skin cleared up more than it did with Pro Activ. It's still worth a try for anyone with problem skin.

I tried this product twice figuring I didn't give it a good enough shot the first time. I used it daily without fail and saw nothing. I cancelled but then decided I didn't give it a long enough time but the same thing happened;nothing. I have oily, congested skin and while the solution MAY have helped diminish a few blemishes here and there the overall result was the same had I used my regular drugstore acne washes and creams. Not worth the money.

Product used for 45 days-caused rash & severe dry skin. Did Not Produce Results Even Close To What Is Promised! ALSO,they did not refund my money even after I sent before/after photos to show there was no improvement.

I have suffered from mild acne since my teen years. I first tried Proactiv when I was 25 and it worked great. I stopped about two years ago. I am now 37. I started suffering from persistent blemishes again. I can't say enough good things about this product. I resumed my Proactiv treatment and haven't had a blemish again since then. I do have sensitive skin so I use the cleanser and toner daily but only apply the repairing lotion to my T-Zone and that works for me. If I apply the lotion to my entire face it does get a bit irritated. Believe me I tried every product on the market, expensive or not and this is the only product that consistently works!
