Shitty Pot, Great Entertainment Value

7/17/2008 - Jenn of Alberta, Canada writes:

My boyfriend got this pot as a gift. He used it once and when he went to drain the pasta, the lid stuck to the pot and wouldn't come off. He was very hungry. Instead of throwing out the pot, he decided that he was going to have some [] pasta whether or not the pot was going to cooperate. He eventually took it outside with a baseball bat and smashed it in. Not surprisingly, it didn't take too long considering how [] the pot was to begin with. Two stars! One for the crappy pot and one for the strange looks he got from the neighbours that day.

Great Idea, Lousy Product

5/19/2008 - Lisa of Kentucky, USA writes:

My mother insisted on having a pasta pot and sent me to several stores to find one for her a few years back. As soon as I brought it in, she was ready to make spaghetti. First off, the metal is very thin and seems cheap. The red color is extremely vibrant and raised the desire to have more red pots. They are pretty and functional looking. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing about them. My mother has rheumatoid arthritis and couldn't get the lid on properly to latch. Once latched, she couldn't get it unlatched. It does drain the water as stated, but with the lid problems, it is difficult to check the pasta for done-ness. We've tried to use it several times, but I lack the patience to keep fooling with it when a large strainer does as good a job as the pot. On the second try, my mother burned her hand trying to loosen the lid after draining the water. After supper, we noticed the pot was discolored. It turned a pinkish-rose color on the outside, up to the water line. Shortly after that, one of the handles became cracked. Save your money and buy a large colander instead.

Use it daily

3/16/2008 - Tim of Ohio, USA writes:

I got this for dirt cheap online and its honestly not bad, i used it every time i make pasta. The pot is small enough to make pasta for one or 2 people (referring to the Large pot) but the small pot is kinda useless. The metal is very thin and i have dumped my pasta twice cuz the lid fell off, but overall i recommend it.

Good idea, poor quality

3/12/2008 - Anonymous of Michigan, USA writes:

I bought this product when I was in college--I love pasta! Anyway, It did work well, and the idea is great, but after a few weeks the pots were bent and then it was difficult to get the lid on and off. If they made this product of a much higher quality I would definately buy it, but I will not be replacing the ones I had--they have since been tossed out, they lasted less than a year before they were trash.

Not a Total Loss

1/16/2008 - Amigwyn of North Carolina, USA writes:

My mother purchased this product at a discount store. It worked pretty much as advertised but the pot itself was poor quality as expected. The non-stick came off very quickly and rust started forming on the pot. I threw it out but kept the lid. It is a pretty standard "stock pot" size so it fits on my good pots. I use the lid to drain everything from pasta to fat off meat. I still have the smaller one because we didn't use it as much but it's starting to peel as well so the lid and pot will probably go when that happens.

good idea crappily made

12/31/2007 - Ian of California, USA writes:

This would have gotten a 3 or 4 rating. But i only got to use it a few times before the inside non-stick coating starting to flake off. And call me crazy, but there's just something about a bowl full of pasta with a bunch of black flakes of who knows what stuck to it that just ruins my apatite. If they made this with something less then the crappiest materials on earth, it would be a good product.

Crappy Pot

10/18/2007 - Kirk of Ohio, USA writes:

I got this pot as a gift, and couldn't wait to try it out. The first attempt was really lousy. The metal it's made out of is really cheap. The handles came loose, and I had to fix them. Also, after I had dumped the water out of the pot, the steam or something caused the lid to adhere to the pot. I couldn't get it off! I ended up throwing it all out. However, the free plastic cooking utencils are great and use them even today!

Lids are great...that's it

8/14/2007 - Lorelee of Ontario, Canada writes:

I found the pots to be very thin and the non-stick finish wore off after a couple of uses. The handle broke off on the big pot. I ended up throwing both of the pots out. I was lucky though that the lids fit perfectly on my good set of pots. I use them each, at least once a week. Great idea, just wish they were made of a better material. The lids are now starting to rust after about 3 years of use. (and yes, I do put them in the dishwasher). Love the idea!!!

Flimsy Junk

6/28/2007 - Dave of Connecticut, USA writes:

Having a lid that doubles as a strainer is a great idea, and would probably work well on a well-made set of kitchenware, but this pot is horrible. If the metal was any thinner, you could use it for tinfoil. The pan warps when it's heated and anything inside scorches - including the spaghetti which stuck to the inside of mine. I think the secret to using this junk pan is to keep the fire on extra-low once the water boils, but that isn't how to cook pasta.

Good concept, poor execution

5/2/2007 - Jack of Alberta, Canada writes:

Found this in a store quite a while back. It did the job well, it's a clever design. However, the very thin pot warped something awful on my smooth cooktop, it looked ready to roll away. That happens quite a bit though, you may have better luck with coil burners or gas. The pasta also stuck to it, but more frequent stirring would solve that. It wound up at the church garage sale. If it were to reappear in a sturdier form, with a flat thick base, I'd buy it. It still worked a hell of a lot better than the Pasta Express!

Not worth it.

9/19/2006 - Gina of Indiana, USA writes:

I thought this would be a great product. It was nice and did what it was supposed to do, but the handles seemed to crumble and break off after using it no more than one dozen times. I never put it in the dishwasher, but washed it in hot, soapy water, dried it well. It never did rust, and the paint didn't come off...but the handles on the pots and the lids did!

I gave it away.

6/27/2006 - Tim of Nebraska, USA writes:

I bought the product, after seeing it on a few commercials. It took an extremely long time to arrive, and when it did I was disappointed with how lightweight the pots were. The lid on the smaller pot fit very poorly, it had to be forced on, and the knob on the lid was not sturdy enough to turn it to the locked position. The free tools that came with the set were cheap and low quality, as well. I gave the whole shebang away.

Great idea

4/30/2006 - Shannon of Illinois, USA writes:

What a great idea!! The product itself was just so-so. I used it a few times with great success...then the problems began. Teflon peeled off. Paint chipped and got rusty, and that was while *not* in the dishwasher. That was after hand washing.

IDEA IS GREAT

1/9/2006 - Sue of Arizona, USA writes:

Was given this as a gift last year. The idea was excellent however found that it rusted inside. Later found out you couldn't put it in the dishwasher. No where were you cautioned about this.

OK but wouldn't buy again

12/27/2005 - Kathy of Pennsylvania, USA writes:

The concept is great but the pans are very light weight - dent easily, dropped the pan once and the handle broke right off. It felt awkward to use draining the water. I'll just stick to my colander.

2

8/5/2005 - Karen of Texas, USA writes:

I was given the Pasta Pro and found that it did rust once it was in the dishwasher. There were no instructions that said it could not go in the dishwasher. The lid and bottom rusted and the paint is peeling off. It did what it was designed to do, but can not be used now.

an okay product

7/20/2005 - Kelli of Pennsylvania, USA writes:

Works fine just dont put it in the dishwasher. It completely rusted on the inside bottom. Its a pain to have to handwash it when everything else you put in the dishwasher! Also, the paint has been chipping off too. Its a piece of crap but it does what its supposed to.
