I have to agree with practically everyone else whos rated this product; it's pretty useless. It was a gift, so it wasn't like I read it thoroughly before buying it. The thing that kills me is, the infomercial says just use boiling water, so everyone's thinking, great, I'll just microwave up some water in a glass container with a pour spout, how easy right? Wrong! The instructions clearly state, does not work with microwaved water, must be boiled on a conventional stove, electric pot, etc. So like most people are saying here, what's the sense of even using the darn thing to begin with; if you're pulling out pots to boil water, just put the pasta in the pot, the heck with the plastic tube thing. Duh!!!!

I bought this that came with the smaller one also. Totally worthless. Never did make spagetti correctly. Since you have to boil water anyway. may as well get out the pots. Bad bad.

Fortunately I bought mine at a discount store and only spent $8, but it was probbly the worst $8 I've ever dropped. This doesn't work, period full stop. You boil water, pour it on top of the pasta in the plastic containre, velcro it into its cozy heat retainer, wait a couple of minutes and VOILA, a nasty lump of underdone, pasty, clumped together pasta. I tried to cook veggies in it, and it just does not work. I now this dog of a product to hold dog biscuits. I should have known...As Seen On TV is a euphemism for Junk That Does Not Work. Avoid this. It's junk

I can say, it did not amaze me like I thought it would. However I worked for me on the first try. I didn't use the instructions, just went off of my own judgment. I am keeping mine.

I hope the plastic gets recycled into something useful. I think this was the most useless thing I have ever bought. Doesn't come close to cooking pasta you could just pour boiling water over pasta in a bowl and let it sit.

My mother, sister, and I all used this product. I used it one time, and it was horrible, first off you have to boil water to fill the container, now if you take the time to boil water on the stove in a pot, wouldn't it make sense to put the pasta right in the pot of water that you just boiled, instead of taking a heavy pot of water, trying to pour it in a small plastic container, then having to wash the pot, and the container. When you put the water in the container, the pasta just sits there, the water gets cold, then the pasta is nothing but a starchy, stuck together mess. I had to throw the pasta out, and make it on the stove. It was not edible, I like my pasta loose, not stuck together in a big clump. It is impossible to cook any pasta in the contraption, it is a joke. My mom, sister, and I now use ours to store colorful, pasta as a decoration in our kitchens. What a waste of money, it took me longer to clean up the mess, then it did to boil a pot of water, and throw the pasta in it, strain it, and serve. If anything it did nothing but cause a mess in my kitchen, and give me a headache, not to mention the fact I had to throw out a pound of pasta, then go to the market and get another pound, so I could actually eat dinner that night, I already had the sauce prepared, but did not expect on having to make 2 pounds of pasta for one person, so it really was a nightmare for me, I would not recommend this product to anyone.
Crunchy pasta every time

I got this as a wedding present. The package says to cook the pasta for 11 minutes. So I cook it for 11 minutes. Crunchy. Gave it the benefit of the doubt, and tried it for 20 minutes. Crunchy again. The secret behind this amazing product that keeps your crunchy pasta crunchy, even in the most boiling of water, is the ability to easily transfer heat from the boiling water through its hard plastic cylindrical case to the surrounding air! In all honesty, this product is now a glorified storage container, with a useless Velcro grip that barely has enough frictional force to hold the container.
Cook with a pan and water! Its less trouble !!!!

Tried several times kept thinking I'd get it right. Just got undercooked stuck together pasta. It is now an overpriced spaghetti canister!!! But it does a fair job at cooking certain veggies, asparagus

Please learn from our mistakes. This is the worst thing I have ever bought. The pasta was not done, even after 30 minutes and it stuck all together!! I am using this stupid tube to put cereal in as not to get stale!! I am sure the manufactures are stilll laughing at us!! Pasta really needs a rapid boil, so I cannot imagine why I thought this would work. DO Not waste your $$$. It absolutely suxs!!!

I am very upset with this product. I was really excited because, well with a name like Pasta EXPRESS, how could you not be? Well, I was wrong there. I tried making some agnle Hair pasta, figuring "Hey, at least it can handle this. Here I come, one pound of agnle Hair!" Nope. The following week, my grandpa's cancer went terminal. Coincidence? Nope.

Bought this product because we eat a lot of pasta. From the TV ads I got the impression this was to cook pasta in the microwave. No! For me, it did not save any time and was more trouble than making pasta the usual way.
I can't get spaghetti to cook USE as a Cannister!

I could not get the spaghetti to cook, perhaps the water isn't hot enough. I will keep trying. I used to keep my different pastas in glass cannisters, PRETTY, but one day I found glass shards in the pasta! So I threw the glass ones away. I know have found sets of these Pasta Express ones in the thrift shops. I have been using them to store the pastas! They look great! I will try to use them for cooking again, since some of you have had some success. Maybe ANGELhair Pasta would be possible to cook. I can't rate this high for the purpose it is intended.

But -- nice lexan container with a molded on base and a plastic strainer lid the snaps on. I went outside and grabbed a couple guppies out of the outside tank, tossed a little aquarium gravel in the bottom, and snapped on the strainer lid (keeps geckos and cockroaches from falling in and drowning). Makes a great mini aquarium and if I feed carefully with tweezers and just a couple flakes to prevent over-feeding, it will stay crystal clear for months. Guppies and the small swordtails don't mind the lower oxygen water and PattyAnn loves to watch the fishies on the window sill. After a couple weeks they'll eat off the tweezers.
The perfect gift - for somebody you don't like.

I'm actually embarassed that I own a Pasta Express. Nobody even knows I have it, so this is just between you and me: I'm keeping it hidden in the back of my kitchen cabinet until I can figure out how to disguise it as something useful and effective, because for "cooking" pasta (or anything else), it is not. Not even if you follow the directions to the letter, use a timer, cross your fingers, and pray to [insert deity of your choice] that it works. This contraption is well aware that it is a piece of junk and can't wait to come into your kitchen to disappoint you. I could simply throw it in the trash, but that's like letting 'it' win. I might glue beads to the smaller one and use it as a vase and maybe keep the tall one in the car (for long trips when there's no restroom in sight).

i wanted this soo bad i begged my wife to get me one. she finally did once you can buy it at []. 10 bucks, not worth that. i used it 5 times all with not so good results. 1st two times pasta, mushy and undercooked at parts. noodles stayed stuck together. tried veggies, again mushy and unevenly cooked. last time, this cant ruin hot dogs can it? well throw them dogs in a toaster oven and in the same amount of time, you get something that tastes much better. i donated the thing to goodwill..... at least i got something out of it!

I purchased the Pasta Express for $8. I works well for long pasta like spaghetti or linguine but it does not consistently cook cut pasta like shells or fusilli. The top is well cooked while the bottom is hard. Then you have to cook it longer which makes 1/2 of the pasta mushy. I did not feel it was worth the money, it does not really save you much time.

If you like your pasta half cooked and all the starch left in it, you will love this product.Otherwise, save your money. I don't and I wasn't impressed. About the only thing I did like about it is being able to cook and strain with one container. Maybe I will have to try those pots that have the holes in the lid for straingin.

Apparently I got luck because I love this thing. We bought it because I hate using 2 pots to make spaghetti in my tiny kitchen, and we always have a tea kettle out anyway. It's awesome. It isn't non stick like they advertise, but it does fit in the bottom rack of our dishwasher. The caps are hard to snap on, and I'm had a few mishaps, but they were worth it. The trick is to follow the directions on your pasta box exactly - as in set a timer. The brand we buy takes 9 minutes - and the pasta comes out perfect. I can't really speak to other uses (vegetables etc.) because we don't use it for that, but for plain old spaghetti noodles - this thing is awesome! (
