My Mom bought 2 refurbished units. Gave me one and kept one for herself. I stuck mine in my room, and within a few hours I noticed a big difference. The room just felt cleaner when you walked in. Air was definitely cleaner and was easier to breath in then before the unit. Easy to use, and clean. only have to replace one thing every 6-12 months. (Carbon Filter). This machine is super quiet for me while running on a Medium setting and i can still sleep! When it is on Silent, is like it is not even on, but the air is still being circulated efficiently. I pop it onto high when I go to work or go out with friends and when I get back, my room smells great and feels so much cleaner. The night light is a nice, but kind of unnecessary touch, but can be toggled on/off so its not a big complaint at all. Overall, I think it is a great product and would suggest it to someone in the market for one. =]

My entire family has allergies. I have tried HEPA purifiers but since I live in LA, they get full with dirt pretty quickly and I have to keep buying an expensive replacement. I bought an Oreck Xl just to see if it will live up to the hype. It did. As long as you use the Oreck air cleaning kit, not soap, it will take about a month before I have to clean it again. I sleep like a baby now.

I recieved this as a gift from my parents. I use it everyday and it really helps. I have a cat and my room mate is allergic to cats. He had a tough time with being itchy and stuffy, but once we added the air purifier to our home, his symptoms cleared up. also it is very easy to clean. The scent insert is crap, but I love it otherwise. I would not have bought it tho because it does cost a lot, and I am young and broke

I have 5 dogs and they use a doggie door and this product cant keep up where products with an actual filter costing hundreds less do a much better job. This unit would need cleaning almost weekly, start sparking and snapping and when I ran out of the expensive replacable filter that goes in the back it starts blowing the dirt/dust right thru and it would blow out the top. It is 100% NOT for high traffic areas and became irritating with its snapping and sparking. It might be fine in areas seldom used or in a clean area with just odors but thats not what I have.
I have 3, using them over 8 years!

I love these. They have some issues that are important to know. DO NOT STICK ANYTHING INTO THE METAL FILTERS. There are wires inside that will break. The wires are what attract the dirt in the air. They now make a spray that loosens the dirt and washes it out. Also rinse the metal filters often and let them dry. Change the carbon filters at least every six months. Wipe around the inside of the machine. If you treat it well it works. REMEMBER windows should be closed or it can't clean the air!! The older ones smell better than the new stronger ones, both work well.

Noticed a big difference in air quality. I have dust/mold allergies so I put one in bedroom. I sleep better without waking up with a headache. I found that it works better for me if I clean it more often than recommended, but that is a minor inconvenience compared to being sick. It is a little more nosier than I would like when on high but is great on silent mode.

Bought into infomercial. Purchased two due to smoking. Noticed no difference. Noisey in the high mode and the scent inserts don't work at all. Way too expensive! My advise - keep shopping

I like the product, but I'm quite disappointed at how much I was charged with the shipping..$130!!!! via Fedex. I wouldn't have bought it through the states...as I didn't know there was a Canadian Oreck Company too. I should've been told of this..or I should've looked into it more.

I got sucked into the infomercial and started to do my homework. He turned out to be my fatherinlaw. He loved his oreck's and he has cats. I never have allergies at his house. I went to the oreck store and was shocked at the price, but I found the "last years" models for $130 so I bought two. They have been working for 3 days now and I am sleeping better and my allergies have lessened. I hear zaps right now and that means that there is big dust in there. So far so good.

I have terrible allergies (especially in the spring)and purchased two of these units. I put one in the bedroom & the other in the living room. For the first 6 months, they seemd to work fine. But after that, I noticed that I was stuffing up constantly and the dust build up in my house was increasing. I constantly cleaned the units but still no real effect. I then noticed that there was a great deal of dust stuck in the unit where I could not get to, even using canned air could not clean it out. I have since stopped using them and the dust in my house is actually decreased and I am not as stuffy anymore. For the money, I dont think this unit is worth it at all.

We have two of these. I think the price for them is far greater than the value. They work some, but really, they are NOT what the commercial says they are. They gave us a little vacuum as a gift. I called and had them send me another, and it doesn't work either. I can't see why someone would give a non-working (has sound only) vacuum. Sucks--NOT! And the purifier, it isn't worth the price.

I kied this initially but then saw the three major flaws: 1. Customer service: no knowledge of what they are selling. The cleaning liquid for the metal insert did not work. 2. Hard to clean: after going through a reconstruction period in part of our house, the dust that stuck to the unit was not removable. 3. Too noisy in maximal position which is needed for best results. And last mnot least, I think the unit is too expensive for what it provides.

My fiancee has bad allergies, every morning she woke up sneezing and miserable. We decided we would try the Oreck purifier and see if it made a difference, the first night she slept perfectly and woke up without the sneezing! We actually purchased two of these units and put one upstairs and one downstairs, there is a considerable difference in the air quality and my fiancees alergies have been reduced greatly when inside our house. I highly recommend!

I have one of the older Oreck XL air purifiers. Mine is about 8-10 years old. Obviously, it does not work as well as it did when it was new, but it still gets the job done. I have really bad allergies, and they act up when i sleep in a room without the purifier. The only problem I have is that the cleaning plate is difficult to get completely clean. Even after soaking it in cleaner or soap overnight, not all the dirt comes off. Otherwise, it's a great product

We live in a very dusty desert environment, have three smokers, two dogs and three cats. We all breathe a little easier around the house since purchasing two Oreck Air Purifiers, and it smells a lot better too! Remember... You can't clean the air if you don't move the air! For cleaning I highly recommend using the Oreck spray product. It works better on the collection grids than anything else I've tried.
