Well this product literally saved the life of not only my hair, but my 12 year old daughters. It is very good with African-American hair. "The End" & "Beyond Straight" are good too when used together. The only not so good thing about it is that after using it a while, it does start to break your hair a little. But probably no more than typical flat irons. It also takes me more than 20 mins. to do my whole head, but I do have very long hair. It is a little big but it saved me from having to put a relaxer on my daughters hair. Overall a very good investment. Thanks Max!

The Maxiglide works pretty good. I was able to straighten my hair in about 20 minutes. But, because my hair is thick and very curly, I had to use a higher heat setting. As a result, my hair became very damaged and frail. Don't try using any products beforehand to combat heat damage either. The Maxiglide was designed to be used on clean hair free of any styling products. The Maxius products may work better though. I also can only use the Maxiglide in Winter because I live in the South. Humidity is an issue here 3 seasons out of 4 and my hair immediately fuzzed up when I went outside.

I love this product. I have wavy hair and had a very hard time managing it on a daily basis. This product is so easy and leaved your hair shiny and as straight as you want. Definitely worth it.

Did not believe the informertial, after all look what rain and dampness does to curly hair, but when I saw it in a store, thought I would give it a try. This is far superior to any flat iron I had in the past, including the Turbo Chi! Works fast, leaves my frzzy, curly dull hair straight and shiny. I use low to med setting, and steam ends only. My hair is shoulder length and layered.

After initially receiving a faulty product (on average it took over 20 mins. to heat up and eventually the bottom plate wouldn't heat up at all) and having problems with their Customer Service Dept. regarding shipping back the faulty item in order to get a working item, I am very pleased with the results. I have long, naturally wave thick hair and it only takes about 17 mins. to straighten my entire head! I am not as impressed with the Miniglide, but am pleased with everything else it came with (The End and Beyond Straight, rollers, brush, etc.)

I am Black woman with all natural curly(nappy) hair.. the maxiglide -plus "beyond straight" works very, very well. I bought one for my mother and it did wonders for her hair as well... It really works.. and I am very grateful for this product. I would recommend to anyone.. I am never going to a beauty salon again! I think if there was a swivel cord that would be great.

This product does work to straighted your hair, but for me, it left a plastic fake look to my hair. I have fine, very curley hair that is medium/long. It takes me over 1-1/2 hours to straighten my hair with this product (not the 20 minutes they claim) and it dries it out quite a bit. I also don't like the way my hair lies on my head after straightening with this product, it makes it look very un-natural. Although I really liked The End, something happened to the jar and the product was gone like it evapported very quickly. They do not sell The End separately from the other product Beyond Straight. I also did not like the Beyond Straight, it is sticky and makes my hair feel heavy so now I can't buy The End.

The maxiglide did everything it promised on the infomercial. It straightens with ease and does not just look like you flatened the tangles in your hair thanks to the teeth in the ceramic plate; but you still must brush your hair before use. Be sure to use the setting you need; do not use a setting thats too high. My hair is thick but not coarse and I use setting 5-6. For thin hair, use even lower as someone here said they burned their hair to bangs. This would never happen if you used the right setting. And the steam burst button does work great. When used on the right setting, this flat iron gives your hair a nice shine. Also a good tip would be to apply a heat tamer spray before using any flat iron or blow-dryer to protect hair. Great product! I would recommend it to anyone.

buy it locally & use store warranty. Had braids- 1/3 of my hair is new growth. cautions: Use oil? You can get scalp brun & the "hair pressing" smell. Use settings 3-5. I am concerned with relaxed hair breakage especially since only the new growth needs the hotter setting. I may be fusing the shaft of my relaxed hair. I have fuzz along my forehead from ear to ear. Not sure if that is breakage or new growth recovered from not getting my hair relaxed. I do end up with hair in the maxiglide when I finish but I was getting a simular amount in my blow dryer or comb. I have not tried the products that go with it so, moisture will cause your hair to revert. It has paid for itself as I have escaped the cost of 2 salon visits for relaxers. They need a miniglide with the pins so those with short hair can straighten the new growth only.

I am an African American real estate agent in Detroit, MI I have never seen a product that worked exactly like the informercial!! My hair is beautiful thanks to Maxiglide and I did it myself the very first time. I did not lose one stran of hair! I recommend it to everyone! Thanks Maxiglide!

I have tried several straight irons but absolutely have found nothing like the Maxiglide. When I saw the presentation, I immediately ordered it from a home shopping network. The whole steam aspect made so much sense. With other flat irons, I'd still have a little bit of a bend in my hair - not with the Maxiglide. I can sleep completely crazy and have "ratty" hair when I wake up... I can run the Maxiglide thru it, and it's stick straight again. I highly recommend this product - I hope I don't ever have to be without it.

This product does a good job in straightening but I was very disappointed when it literally burned off parts of my hair. I did not have bangs before I used this product, but after using it several times, it burned off my hair and it looks like I have bangs. It probably burned off like three inches. It also burned off parts in the bottom of my hair above the back of my neck. So please dont waste your money oh, and also the steam burst button never worked.

I recently purchased the maxiglide and after 1 full month and three uses the iron stop getting hot, the little blue light will not stop flashing. I feel that I wasted money on a piece of junk! It is not all that it is cracked up to be.. It actually pulls the hair out and it causes major split ends as well.. Save your money and don't not purchase this item.. It does not have any kind of warranty.

I'm an African American and my 2 daughters have very long thick hair. I would like to say that I am not one who order things from inforcommercials ,but my 2 daughters ages 13 and 10 brought this product to my attention. I said to them "yea right, sure it really works", boy was I WRONG.I purchased the maxi glide and mini glide. As well as for the miniglide I dislike it and would not recommend anyone purchasing it. Also I purchased the beyond straight, and the End silcon shine enhancer protector for your hair which works really great. The beyond straight and the end silcone made it much easier to comb through their hair after washing and blow drying it. I would recommended those products to anyone. It also came with the Adjust-a-curl any size roller root lifter which I dislike. Even though it is a bit pricey it is worth every penny. To my surprise, just like the infor says it just glide through the hair and it is so easy to use and it saves a lot of time. I'm very impressed this product. I normally take my 2 daughters to the beauty salon and spend around $100 to get their hair done and we would be there for 6 hours or more. The good thing is that they both can use it with such ease. I am telling you all out there to give it a try, you will not be disappointed. I have own the maxi glide for about a month now and I love it. I have other flat iron that dont even match up to what the the maxi glide can do as well as the beyond straight and the end silicon can do. I will still take them to the beauty salon for those special occasion, but the maxiglide is the way to go. The only other negative thing beside not liking the miniglide and the root-lifter rollers is that the cord gets tangle up too much. Personally I think it should have a swivel cord, so hopefully they will change it to a one. The product is AWESOME! Thaxg

I just got this for my B-Day, I couldn't wait to use it. I read all the directions and off I went. I got half way done and touched my head, which was shown in the infomercial and it was not to harm you, only if you use the steam close to the scalp, which I did not do BUT I was burned on the scalp in 2 places. I'm not sure if I want to keep it now. On the infomercial it showed touching a foam head to show it does not burn-well IT DOES. Badly!! So BEWARE!!

I like this product. I use it on the lowest setting and it really does a great job. I've had other ceramic irons before that were more expensive and did not work as well. I don't use it often but when I do, I am happy with the results. It can get VERY hot so please only use it on the lowest setting until you know what your hair can handle!

I bought this product hoping that it worked as well for me as it did for the girls on the infomercial....and it did. My daughters and myself use this product many times a week and have never been disappointed. The three of us do have fairly long fine hair so I do not know how it would work on other hair types. I am thinking about buying another one just to have on hand if something should happen to this one with all the use that we give it.

I purchased this product because it claimed to work well on all hair types. If you have long hair it works great. If your hair is coarse, ie. african american coarse then you will probably have problems with the pins going through your hair. Take a good look at the women on the infomercial and those featured on the shopping network where the products are sold. Look closely at the scalps and you will see hair that may range in texture a bit but it's still wavy not coarse and thick. I have given it to my friend's daughter and she loves it. She's got hair that she can wear wet and curly if she likes and that seems to be the perfect texture. The product does seem high quality and it does get very hot! I bought another flat iron by [] and it works wonderfully and is also a better size for mid length hair.
