The maxiglide is the best hair straightener I have ever used! I have even bought the really expensive hair straighteners in the past and this one is by far the best! It seems to work great on all types of hair. I would definitely recommend this product. The only thing I could think is that the people that are unhappy with this product are somehow not using it correctly.

I got this for christmas about 2 yrs ago. my mom got it from a store so it didnt have all that extra stuff just the dvd and the straightner at first i wasnt fond of it because i found the teeth pulled but i watched the video and it said not to put pressure on it and that fixed the problem. im mixed half black half white and i have really coarse curly hair and ive had about 7 diff straightners and this one is by far my fav its the quickest and leaves my hair far more straight than any other one. and also gets more hot then anyother one ive had.

I ordered the maxi glide after watching the infomercials and seeing how amazing it worked! When I got it in the mail the first thing I did was try it. It worked wonderfully and cut my straightening time in half! I thought it was well worth the cost! A couple weeks later after having used it on a regular basis I noticed it starting to pull out my hair and the damage it did was unbelievable!! So I stopped using it. It took over a year before the damage it did was finally gone. I would NEVER recommend it to anyone. I've been straightening my hair since I was a teenager and I realize that any straightener will do damage to your hair but not like what I experienced with the maxi glide. If your thinking about buying this product please rethink your decision.

I'm African American with fairly long medium length curly hair. I bought MaxiGlide several years ago and I love it. It gets my hair bone straight. It takes a bit of getting used to because of it's large size, but after the first couple of times it was a piece of cake. I bought another one recently just in case the old one conks out. As for hair damage, I haven't seen any yet, but when you're dealing with high heat, you have to be careful anyway.

I purchased the product a year ago from a shopping channel. I HAD extremely long hair. I have chemically straightened hair and the breakage at first was unnoticeable. I loved the way it straightened the hair but the Maxiglide took its toll over a period of time. I removed the the detangler plate because I noticed a lot of hair in the detangler. I decided to use the half steam and half flat-iron plates. That technique didn't work either in regards to stopping the breakage. I like the results but it may take its toll on your hair if it is chemically straightened. I even used the lowest settings.

i have curly greek hair and while the bulky straightner does work, it will only keep my hair staight for 10 hours and hair frizziness and end breakage will be the result. i used to chemicaaly straighten my hair every two years and have noticed less damage to my hair with chemicals than this unit. if you have big hands buy it otherwise it will weigh you down. shoulda bought a [] buy a [].

sliding plate broke after about a month of use. I have to hold it a certain way to use. Leaves hair just looking weird, would not recommend to anyone. I recently purchased a []flatiron, it is the best purchase I have made since my treadmill! Leaves my hair beautiful and soft and salon looking.

I purchased this product at a retail store and returned it the very next day! I was not what I had expected at all. I have easy to straiten hair and this just was too clunky and my hands were not big enough to hold the this product and press the steam booster. I used my store credit and purchased the []. Although it was nearly twice as much it was well worth the money it is much easier to use and has a constant steam, no buttons to push... spend the extra money and get the []

My eight year old daughter has thick, natural, wavy hair. We purchased, about a year ago, the [] flat iron at the mall. It does serve the purpose of straightening the hair, but over time it left her ends fried and brittle. Her hair was also frizzy after straightening. With the Maxi Glide, I noticed much softer ends and virtually no frizz when using the steam burst mechanism. Also I was able to get closer to her scalp and edges so all of her hair is straight. She was absolutely thrilled with the end result and so was I!! Very seldom do I let my daughter wear her hair out, but now that we have the Maxi Glide straightener, I might re-consider! Yes it is somewhat bulky, but I don't care. It's well worth it's weight.

Maxi glide is very good for rainy days as it keep hair straight without getting frizzy. I find, it is a good product to have but not for daily use, as it can brake hair ends in fine or dry hair. I use it specially when it is raining and I need to go out. Even when I use conditioners and hair creams my hair became so brittle from using the maxi glide too often that I had to let it rest for a while. It can brake hair pretty bad if you use it too often. I have also like to mention that I have burned my skin several times. Do not allow a young girl use this product alone. I wish to find something similar but more compact for traveling. It is too big to bring in the carry on when I travel as it is too big. I fear to place it in the other suit case as I have heard of things stolen from suit cases. I bought the small one but since it doesn't have steam the effect on hair is not the same. Be aware of the good and bad things using this product. The product is good but not perfect.

I love the MaxiGlide Straightener! Before purchasing this product I read many reviews on this website, and basically what everyone says is true. The straightener works BEST on thick, coarse, curly and/or frizzy hair. However, if you use lower a setting (like 3) it can still be used on your hair. However my hair is very thick but not at all coarse. I used setting 6 which worked great. Another thing I noticed people were complaining about is that the straightener will break after about a year. YOU HAVE TO READ THE DIRECTIONS AND WATCH THE DVD! In these it will specifically say that you have to use bottled or distilled water (not tap water) for the steamer in order to increase longevity of the product. Another thing is that it is slightly bulky but not at all unmanageable. The last comment is that the products that come with the MaxiGlide (Beyond Straight and The End) don't make your hair greasy or stciky if you READ THE DIRECTIONS. Overall, the product works perfectly but you HAVE TO READ ALL DIRECTIONS in order to ensure perfect use.

This product works exactly how it's shown on TV. I have wavy, thick, long hair and one pass makes it straight as an arrow. It also holds that for a few days or until I wash it again. It is high quality and easy to use.

Well, let me just tell you about my hair........I have long THICK natural tight curly hair...Straightening my hair is a nightmare and takes HOURS (anywhere from 4-6 hours)!!! And I could never do it myself cause everytime I did, it was like a huge lions mane, frizzy and all over. So I did a lot of research and watched the informercial about a million times, so I decided to get it..........HOLY COW, it was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only did it straighten my hair it took no more than 45 mins AND I did it all by myself....I was pratically in tears...I could not believe how wonderful this product worked....I soo recommend it. Just section the hair in the middle and start from the back and work your way around and up and it works!!! THANK YOU MAXI GLIDE FOR MAKING MY LIFE SOO MUCH EASIER..hehe It works....trust me, it works!!!

I liked how it worked on my hair, my hair is so curly and frizzy, but this got it straight. The only thing that didn't work though was how the commercial said "Your hair will still stay straight in humidity no matter what!" That part didn't work for me. But overall it's good.

I was a bit skeptical watching the infomercial but decided to give it a try anyhow. I'm an african american with very thick & wavy/cyrly hair. (which was the main reason I was skeptic) To my surprise it did work great on my hair type. You have to be careful with the temp settings as even on a low setting it gets super hot. I'd recommend using a heat protectant moisturizer prior to straightening in order to protect your hair from frying or burning. My only complaint with it was after a month or so I started to notice my hair always had a "burnt smell" to it after use. Even on the lowest heat setting it still gave off the smell. Other than that its a great product and it does straighten quite easily even the curliest of hair.

The maxiglide is the only solution that has worked to straighten my hair. In the past professionals could do it, but when I got home I was a complete idiot and could not do it myself. I have fine, curly hair and this works well for me. I don't do it everyday, but when I want something different I give myself 20 minutes and it's done. My hair really looks healthy when I'm finished.

have a tender-headed biracial 7 year old who would scream every time i mentioned "comb" or "brush". i ordered this for cheaper on another site, and after washing and conditioning with a detangling product, we went to work. i was impressed from the first piece. unlike the infomercial, i did have to pass over some pieces two or three times, but i just think that was because she doesnt have caucasian hair. it took about thirty to forty minutes to do her entire head and a week later it is still much easier to comb, part, and brush. she did complain the entire time i did it but once she finished i did my mothers hair who is the same texture, and we think she was just faking because she didnt want to get it done! it is a bit clumbsy to use the first time, but i think the next time i will be much better at it. it is well worth the price and i have recommended it to several people since then!
