This Listen Up Personal Amplifier does not work at all. All you hear is like and echo and to hear the television or music you need to turn up the TV to regular hearing levels. This defeats the whole purpose of this device. I bought it so I could watch TV while my spouse was sleeping and this piece of crap doesn't work.

My elderly mother previously had an unsatisfactory experience with a hearing aid. I purchased "Listen Up" for her at []. We tested it, and she can now hear me from another room and in the same room when I am not facing her. I don't have to repeat things three times any more, or face her so she can see my mouth move! She can now hear TV at a lower volume and hear more clearly the dialogue. Up until now, she was missing most of the words. She said that this is the answer to her problem! Notes: (1) You will hear static if you are holding the device because it is so sensitive, it picks up every sound. You must set the volume and put it down. (2) She was not happy with the headset, so I purchased a headset by Magnavox for $4.99 that she puts on (like earmuffs) and the problem is solved!

I sometimes have a hard time hearing our TV especially if there are other sounds going on, so I thought I would try this product. The infomercial makes it sound like you can have your TV very low, and this device will allow you to hear it just fine from across the room. This is a blatant and total lie and in fact to a degree you can hear the TV better without using the product at all (as I think it muffles the sound a bit and amplifies other noises along with static). This product does not do what it promises AT ALL. It is just not worth it for me to return it considering shipping and handling costs so I am chalking it up to a bad decision. I just thought I would post to try and prevent other people from making this mistake in the future.

My husband bought this for me so I could watch T.V. while he sleeps at night. It does not work! The only way to hear the T.V. is to turn the volume up on the T.V. so that you can hear the T.V. "without" the device! The only thing that comes through the earpieces is loud static.

Bought one of those for my wife to listen to the TV. Listen Up does NOT amplify anything unless you actually put it withing 1 foot of the TV. Very poor manufacturing, just touching it or rustling the sheets on which it lies would make a very loud sound, but it cannot amplify the sound from a TV that is 7 feet away. Seems like all they did is put a cheap microphone in a box with no amplification hardware what so ever. I tried my 9 dollar microphone, that I use for online chat, and it does the same job. The TV commercial is an absolute LIE!

I got burned by this 100% scam. I ordered 2 and after trying the product, hoped the first one was simply defective. So, I tried the other. No difference. My advice is to get a cup with a string attached to another cup, and hold one cup to your ear. You would be better off.

I bought the Personal sound Amplifier at [] for 14 bucks This product is crap. I can hear better without it. There's no 'extraordinary hearing' as claimed, this is false advertising I will return mine and post negative reviews all over the internet because it's the 3rd time [] sucks.

never go for this shit. total waste of money. even my stethoscope produces better sound than this junk. i feel like murdering all the guys who acted in the advertisement.

4/15/2007 - John of Maine, USA writes:
I bought two based on claims. All you can hear is extra amplified static. It magnifies background sounds. Pure unadulterated scam. Then they have the nerve to keep the double shipping charge.

I bought two. Husband is engineer and he put in battery. All we heard was static and sound of our own breathing. Returned them. Only got postage back from one (although they were mailed together it was double postage). Reason given: I opened one. How would I knew it didn't work without opening? Do not under any circumstance buy this!

4/11/2007 - Margaret of New Jersey, USA writes:
Total garbage! Item amplifies sounds closest to you and you can't hear a thing far away because the earplugs muffle. I could hear better without it. Sounds exactly like a stethoscope. Wish I'd seen these ratings before I bought it. Now am having a hard time getting money back. Also, took forever to receive it. Bad all the way around.

4/10/2007 - Anne of Colorado, USA writes:
The sound was muffled in my opinion. + too much interference. I have something else that cost less, and works far better. I would NOT recommend this item under any circumstance. Actually it doesnt deserve a one star rating. However, unable to post otherwise. Thank you

I purchased this product, and I think it is a total rip-off. It was a waste of time and money, the person acted like it was the best thing in the world. I tried to listen in on my neighbors having sex one night and actually ended up hearing my own heater vent. Complete waste. I say if I REALLY wanted to be nosy, I would go out and ACTUALLY buy a bionic ear. Overall, I would rate this product at a NEGATIVE 5.

This item is a scam ripoff in my opinion and does not work even close to the advertisements. Also it weighs less than an ounce, all thin cheap plastic.

3/22/2007 - Mark of Colorado, USA writes:
I purchased this product because of the infomercial. I wish I had read these reviews of it first. I hope someone else is smarter than me. This piece of junk doesn't perform within a country mile of the claims made for it. I could hear small sounds better without this product's earplugs blocking my ears.

3/21/2007 - Barbara of Colorado, USA writes:
Too good to be true. First of all, I ordered two of these devices, and had to pay $6.99 EACH for the shipping, even though they were mailed together. The TV advertisement and online video of the device show the on-off volume in the center of device. The devices I received had a very small, hard to control adjustment on the side. The sound quality is not good. The higher the volume, the more static. Any noise you make close to you is amplified and distorted.

I bought this for my husband because he can't hear but won't admit it! I got so sick of the TV being so loud. If got on my nerves and couldn't hear other people talking or even talk on the phone. He seems to like it and it has made my life A LOT better. He can hear his TV and I can enjoy my life again. It may not be perfect but it seems to work fine for us.
