Worth the $$

We had leftover salad - sealed it in a mason jar and TWO WEEKS later there was NO sigh of wilting! WOW! It is also great for block cheese - no mildrew at all! Bags are rather expensive, but cut them extra large and you can use them over and over.  Use the mason jars for anything "squishable". Don't even TRY to seal anything with liquid in a bag. (We also bought bags off of an internet auction - you know which one- so they were less expensive than the store). Followed the directions to freeze strawberries (freeze them first - then put in vacuume bag) but it didn't work too well. Strawberries were a loss due to extra air that wasn't totally sucked out in between the berries.  Next year will put them in jars. Bags are great for leftover turkey, chicken, etc and for all meats.  We've even sealed non-food items to make them waterproof. Overall, this is a WONDERFUL product - strong suction and used correctly WILL save you $$.  Buy a case of mason jars and you'll use this A LOT!  (Think jar mixes for Christmas presents!)

Great Product

I have a Costco nearby and buy in bulk which is why I bought the FoodSaver. I have used this product at home for several years now. This product works extremely well in vaccuum sealing food products (mostly meats, poultry and fish). The vacuum bags are expensive, but I typically re-use them over and over again until they get too small to reseal. The package I got included vacuum canisters which work equally as well to preserved things that would get crushed in the bags. You can also vacuum seal things in wide mouth mason jars (I store bulk spices and dry herbs for months this way). It can also seal other plastic bags (not under vacuum), like frozen vegetables, potato chips and cereal which helps preserve their freshness. I once bought a cheaper model from another company before buying the FoodSaver, and it didn't have anywhere near the vacuum power this system has. I do advise keeping the FoodSaver on your countertop or you may not use it as often. Highly recommended.

First saw it on U S tv. My cousin had one. Managed to get one from our TV it does eveytning the adverts says. I am delighted with my foodsaver and try to convert my friends to buy one. It keeps food fresh and cuts down on waste and keeps the taste.
