I have used the foodsaver since 1991. It is the sameone that i bought at the [] county fair. I have had a few little problems but i figured out how to correct them. This unit has saved me a lot of money over the years.

There is nothing I have to say against the product itself, it vacuums and does help keep food fresh in the freezer. The only thing is that the bags are so expensive you might not save a lot of money using this product in the end. One thing that is interesting though is using the bags to heat up your food in boiling water, perfect if you like camping.

I got a Foodsaver Pro III for free about 5 or 6 years ago figuring it would be another kitchen appliance that I would never use (what the heck is a blender?). I very quickly found out several things: A) It works exactly as advertised, B) I love it, C) I use it all the time, D) I will never be without it (or something similar). I've found Foodsaved cheese in the bottom of my cheese drawer in the refrigerator that are several months old, and it's still fresh! I use the square pan to marinate meat in 15 minutes instead of several hours, and it's great for buying meat in bulk. Another great tip - if you cook up several batches of something (chili, for example), put the leftovers into 6-inch plastic containers, freeze it, then pop out the frozen chili-sicle, seal it in a Foodsaver bag, and put it back in the freezer. When you're in the mood for chili (or whatever it was), just drop the bag straight into a pot of boiling water and reheat it.

I've had this for about 4 years and it has stood the test of time. It's not one of those household appliances collecting dust. I use it frequently and my children love to help me.

i have went through 3 of these sealers. i will keep on buying them. they are the greatest thing there is. i buy bacon by the bulk. i ten freeze it enough to get hard, then separate it into the sizes i want to freeze. my meat stacks so much easier this way. also in my freezer i can set it upright to see the quantity i have left if i need to purchase more. m. litchfield, illinois

I bought my foodsaver 4 years ago and it has paid for itself many times over. I have used it to freeze any kind of food you can imagine! I even prefreeze homemade soups in plastic bowls then pop out and freeze in the food saver bags. I have made tv dinners from left overs on plastic plates so that my family can just grab and nuke on nights I'm not home to cook. Because of this machine we rarely have to throw out anything from the fridge.

I bought a Foodsaver machine in 2006 and it has definitely lived up to my expectations. I have vacuum packed food to freeze and when I had it months later it tasted as fresh as the day I made it. I also love how I can purchase meat in bulk at [] and vacuum pack it for future use - it's saved me a bundle! I was so impressed that I bought one for my fiance (now husband) and used it to vacuum pack food I made for him at his apartment. I think he loves the Foodsaver even more than I do because he can enjoy dishes that I made for him months later. Even my mother in law has bought one and can't stop raving about how wonderful it is! This is one of the best purchases I ever made - I can't recommend it enough.

Makes it so easy when there is only one or two people to buy bulk and split it up for individual use. I use it to seal coffee in smaller portions. Also used for crackers be careful not to over vacuum causing crackers to crumble. For me to use on a regular bases I need to have it out. So I hung it up which helps with use of counter space yet I can take it down if needed for use. If you do any camping it's a must make your meals (ie spaghetti) then use as boiling bags, after dinner you have clean hot water to do the dishes in. Also seal ice cubes to keep in the cooler, later you can use it for drinking water. There are so many uses. I have given a few as gifts. enjoy

My husband bought the V550 from [] for me many years ago. It sucked very little bit of air out with no problems. One day I used another "as seen on tv" item to mince onion without getting it all mushy and liquidy. I went to suck and seal it and before I could stop it, the juice got squeezed out and sucked into the motor and now it doesn't work. I was so mad at myself and missed it so much and after living without it for a week, I bought another one but newer model. I am happy again. I now have more buttons and features.

When I first got one of these soon after they came out, I was very dissatisfied--the sealer element didn't work very well. Friendly customer service sent me a new unit. Putting the unit away for a backup, I purchased a competing product that was an upgraded version (hands free)--it didn't hold up well. I then got out the stored old Foodsaver--this one has lasted for several years, maybe over a decade. Tilia has fixed very well the serious problems of the initial units. I use this product with vacuum bags, vacuum canisters, and for re-sealing plastic/mylar product bags almost every day: The devices are really useful in many ways--virtually all owners of them agree. When mine gives out, I'll stay with Tilia--it's very obvious that they're a "durable" company that's here to stay--they're definitely the Kings for producing this type of product and accessories!

My husband bought me a FoodSaver for my birthday 4 years ago. I have used it 1-2 times a week since then and it is absolutely wonderful. I use it mainly to freeze leftovers so they don't spoil and go to waste. I save microwavable TV dinner trays, wash them, and use our homemade leftovers to create my own TV dinners to take to work for lunch. None of those chemicals or additives you find in the fine print on the back of TV dinner boxes! Plus I am able to buy meats in bulk and keep them for a year in our chest freezer. You just pop a frozen roast in a crock pot and 8 hours later you come home and the house smells like a genuine home cooked meal. The square marinade container works great on meats we cook on the grill. The first time I used it, it was awkward. But then I read the instructions and watched the video (should have done that first!), and once I learned how it worked, it was a breeze.

WE bought a foodsaver food storage vacuum machine. It worked satisfactorily for the first 9 months but then started to take longer to vacuum the bag. We put up with this for awhile and finally called the company. After explaining the problem, they said the cause was most likely a worn gasket. Here's the clincher: the one dollar special rubber gasket was not available for purchase. We would have to buy a whold new machine. Planned opsolesence if you ask me. I will never buy another one of this company's products. Jon

My mom got me a food saver for Christmas. I have been wanting one for years and was really excited to finally have one and it has more than lived up to my expectations. I can make a huge salad and keep it for two weeks using this product and after two weeks the lettuce is a fresh as the day I made the salad (I use the pulse feature for this). I am looking forward to finding new uses for my foodsaver.

I have owned this product for 3 years and use it almost every day. It's great for keeping food fresh, storing food in the freezer, and keeping bugs out of dry goods. The replacement bags are expensive, but worth it to save money on food that would have otherwise spoiled.

A quality well built product that does what the makers claim. It lives up to the commercials. it's easy to use and looks like it will hold up for quite awhile. The only negative thing I can say about it is I feel that the bags that you need are too expensive.

We have had a Foodsaver for several years and love it. One thing I've learned is to use the Foodsaver bags. We tried other "cheaper" brands and have had problems with them staying sealed in the freezer. Not so with the Foodsaver bags. We bought some of the storage canisters and they work great. I hesitated buying one of these for several years because I've been burned on other informercial products. After using the Foodsaver, I wish I'd purchased one years ago. I would recommend this product to everyone. If you follow the instructions, it will work as intended and you won't ruin it.

I've owned three Food Savers, currently on a Professional model. The first broke after 2-3 years of steady use. Tilia offered to fix it if I shipped it to them, but the repair was going to cost almost as much as a new one. Gave the second one to our daughter when we upgraded. Use it for everything so we keeo it on the counter alwasy ready to seal at a moment's notice. The ability to stop the sealing to avoid crushing the product is great. Just remember to wash and reuse the bags. If you don't, it could get expensive.

I bought my first SoodSaver about 5 years ago and managed to use up the strip which seals the bags. I liked it well enough to call and since it was not cost worthy to send it to be repaired(they would not send out the part) I bought a more recent machine and I truly like it and use it often!

We've had a foodsaver for a couple years, and use it all the time. In addition to the normal uses of packaging bulk food for the freezer, we use it several times a day to reseal bags such as for cereal, chips, frozen vegetables, etc. Accessories that we use alot are the lids that allow you to vaccuum in standard canning jars. These were purchased separately from an on-line source. They're not very expensive, and overall saves alot rather than getting a bunch of foodsaver canisters. At this point, we consider the foodsaver an essential appliance.
