E-mailed customer service and got no response. Threw the oven away because the quartz heating element would turn on by itself once plugged into the electric outlet. The fan however, did not turn on. Too risky to use and I perceive it as a definite fire hazard. Never leave the oven unattended.

I used the flavorwave almost daily and I love it!!! It it so easy to use and it cooks food perfectly. I am buying one for my Mother for Christmas... I would recommend getting this product. Top comes lose sometimes, but still great buy.

Consumers beware of this product. I have purchase 2 of these one for myself and one for my daughter. Both of the units purchase have fail in less than a year with limited usage (once or twice a month or less). While the unit does cook the meals as advertized, these units are to expensive to last such a short time. Both of the units I purchased you plug them in and nothing, no display, no nothing the unit simply stop working. Purchasing the FlavorWave Oven is a gamble. I suggest you avoid wasting your money.

For those of you who have problems with your Flavorwave (such as a heating unit that has failed or a cracked dome), try e-mailing at this address thane@ecustomerresponse.com or faxing a complaint to 775-332-5704 attn: Flavorwave. I fought with Thane's customer service over my heating element and got nowhere until they gave me these contacts. They sent me a new heating element, free of charge, no shipping and handling, and I didn't have to ship the defective one back. Now I'm going to try contacting them about my cracked dome. Good luck!

We have had this one for at least 6 years. It works great and as advertised. The only problem we have had is the teflon coating on the rack washed off. The company sent us another one free. It too washed off after a year or so. We have learned to ignore it. However, it does cook great and I love that we can throw a frozen roast into the wave.

UPDATE: After badgering and threatening Thane about my defective heating element, they finally sent me a new one free of charge, no shipping and handling. The heating element has been working just fine for 7 months now. I do enjoy cooking with it. It is nice not to heat up the whole kitchen with my regular oven in the summer. You have to constantly monitor the cooking, however, as it will burn your food on top. I often cover things with foil for a while and then remove for browning. Not easy since the internal fan blows the foild around. You have to crimp the edges down to keep it in place. NOW, my dome has cracked all across one side. I am so glad I found this web site and discovered I'm not the only one with the problem. I used the unit one night to reheat some pizza and set the dome aside. The next morning I found the dome cracked! I've also noticed several people discussing the loose dome problem when heating food. I thought I was not twisting the dome into place properly, but apparently it loosens itself. Glad I saw all these comments. I guess I'm in for another battle with Thane to get a new dome. If I can't get them to send me one for free, the whole thing is getting chucked into the trash. I'm not spending more money on this highly overrated product.

The Flavorwave is even more than expected. Cooks from frozen to well done without losing any flavor or juices. But, if the glas globe cools to rapidly it will shrink and crack down one side. Would buy another if I knew this was just a defective globe but their warranty people did not respond to my inquiry.

This is one of the worst products I have ever used. After reading the reviews, I am convinced that there might be some good ones out there, but neither of my two were any good. Screws fail off the first one shortly after I got it. Food cooked on the outside only of both my first and second oven. Was raw on the inside (unless I cooked it twice as long as recommended). At first I thought the first oven was a lemon. But the second one was just as bad. The doom had so many chips and cracks on it that I was actually afraid to use it after three or four months. I just threw it away. Save your money! Don't even think about purchasing that thing.

I love my flavor wave oven and I use it very often. I have learned that some things need to be watched so that they don't dry out but in general it works very well. The only suggestion I would make is that the plexi glass raisers be made of some more durable product like glass as mine have cracked quite badly and I will soon need to find new ones. It is a shame as it is not yet even two years old. Also when the oven gets hot the raiser separates from the heating unit and can be dangerous to lift if you are not familiar with the oven. I would buy another if you upgraded the raisers and fixed the little quirks I mentioned above.

We have had our Flavorwave Oven for a couple of years now and we love it! We are a family of 5 and use it at least 4 times a week on average. It saves so much time and is so convenient because I don't have to worry about forgetting to get food out of the freezer before leaving for work. Meat goes on frozen and comes out tender, tastes great and is healthier because it sits on the rack and not in the fat. It is easy for the kids to use and is a breeze to clean. We have the original oven and have never had any issues with the working of the oven or the plastic dome. If you love homemade meals without alot of time, you have to try this!

I bought the Flavorwave and I have to say I love it!!! I have told all my friends about it and they are even going to buy one too. It cooks the best chicken ever! It's so tender and juicy.

I have had this for two years and use it mainly for heating frozen convenience food and the occasional frozen steak. Certainly doesn't match a grill or slower oven techniques, but ability to cook from frozen reasonably well is an incredible time saver. Great online community around this and similar nuwave with tons of recipes for the interested.

This is a great product to have. It saves me alot of energy. Since we beginning using this product our electricity bills has done. We're not using the stove anymore. We hardly spend of time cooking. It's faster than the oven also. The only down fall to this product is that you have to replace the plastic dome because it cracked alot. We had to replace 2 domes so far in a year. And that dome is around $21.00 each time. And sometime, it can make the meat a little dry because all the oil are drained out.

6/23/2008 - LJ of Florida, USA writes:
I agree with []-when the heating unit/dome gets hot, the heating element no longer stays 'locked' to the dome and will separate when you try to lift it. It seems an easy fix and I'm surprised it made it past the trial runs. As far as the cooking goes, I'm totally pleased and any recipe is easily incorporated. Rather inconvenient during the cooking process, but in the end, it usually is worth it.

I love the oven and being able to cook frozen is a blessing. Everything I have cooked has turned out great. The only problem is I think when the unit gets hot the plastic dome expands a little so when I try to lift the top, the motor part comes away from the plastic dome. I make double sure it is seated tight to begin with but still have the problem when unit gets hot. I had a earlier model years ago where the motor was permanently attached to the dome, and think that was the best and safest way to go.

Although cooking times need tweaking, I'm very satisfied with my oven. I use it several times a week. My son refers to it as the "chicken cooker" since I love to roast marinated chicken breasts in it so much. I freeze them in marinade or coated with a dry rub, then take them out as needed and cook from frozen in the FlavorWave.

For the past 30 days I've been using the newest version to date called The Turbo Deluxe Flavor Wave that comes with a glass bowl rather than a plastic dome. The good news is this is a much improved design, sturdy and well built. There is nothing cheap looking about it (except maybe the lid holder). The bad news is the recommended cooking temps and time (for both frozen and thawed meat) cook the meat too fast, so the outside is brown, but the inside is still uncooked. For best results lower the temp. and extend the time. Also, cook most meats (including fish) on the lower rack, and whatever meat you cook count on flipping it halfway through the cooking cycle so both sides are browned and crispy. Frozen meat doesn't cook as well as fresh meat, but it's quite convenient thawing meat in the oven first at a lower temp before cooking at the proper temp. Contrary to the infomercial, it does NOT cook the inside and outside of the meat at the same time. It still cooks from the outside in. And I wouldn't say the meat comes out tasting better or worse than a conventional oven. It tastes the same if you know what you're doing. In my opinion, grilling on an outdoor grill is still king in terms of taste. I recommend buying the extendor ring for cooking whole chickens, keeping the heating element a safe distance from the meat. Tip #1: place the grill/rack on a Pyrex glass pie dish to catch drippings...makes cleanup a snap. Tip #2: Add a little water to the pie dish to keep the meat from drying out. Tip #3: keep notes. You just need to get used to the oven settings that work best for you. This comes with experience. I love being able to view the meat from all angles compared to a conventional oven. Plus, this oven practically cleans itself...add water and detergent to the bowl and set temp to wash, then rinse & dry. Works great! Alternatively, everything can be placed in the dishwasher as well. If I had it to do over, yes, I would still buy it. In fact, I plan to upgrade when the Flavor Wave Platinum version becomes available. Like with most things, it just takes some getting used to, but overall I'm well pleased. I hope this review helps with your decision.

I have been using this Thane product now for over 6 months and it has changed the way that I eat. It is everything that the TV program said it would be. The food comes out of it from a fresh or frozen state very juicy and tender - as good as or better than as if it were cooked on my grill. I'll admit it is not as easy to clean as was my grill, but I never really cleaned my grill the way I do this oven. I have tried almost everything from vegetables to frozen roasts and have been amazed at the results. Though the plastic shell cracked it was replaced with no complaint and no charge, right away. I love the thing. This is the first review that I have ever written but I thought that if others are skeptical as I was you should know that this is one super product. (I did not originally buy the chopper with it, but went back and bot it - really glad I did.)

The Deluxe model plastic top has broken twice. Looks like they realize this was a flaw since the new Turbo is made of glass. Customer Service very very poor.

I had one of these when I was single and cooked for myself, I loved it. I didn't have to use a whole oven just for a small meal. I had a small stone pan and loved to make four hot chocolate chip cookies. If you don't have an oven, this will do the job for you.
