Great product

6/24/2008 - Maya of California, USA writes:

This is a great product to have. It saves me alot of energy. Since we beginning using this product our electricity bills has done. We're not using the stove anymore. We hardly spend of time cooking. It's faster than the oven also. The only down fall to this product is that you have to replace the plastic dome because it cracked alot. We had to replace 2 domes so far in a year. And that dome is around $21.00 each time. And sometime, it can make the meat a little dry because all the oil are drained out.

Design flaw...

6/23/2008 - LJ of Florida, USA writes:

I agree with []-when the heating unit/dome gets hot, the heating element no longer stays 'locked' to the dome and will separate when you try to lift it. It seems an easy fix and I'm surprised it made it past the trial runs. As far as the cooking goes, I'm totally pleased and any recipe is easily incorporated. Rather inconvenient during the cooking process, but in the end, it usually is worth it.

Great but with one problem

6/10/2008 - Doris of Washington, USA writes:

I love the oven and being able to cook frozen is a blessing. Everything I have cooked has turned out great. The only problem is I think when the unit gets hot the plastic dome expands a little so when I try to lift the top, the motor part comes away from the plastic dome. I make double sure it is seated tight to begin with but still have the problem when unit gets hot. I had a earlier model years ago where the motor was permanently attached to the dome, and think that was the best and safest way to go.

Love it!

5/30/2008 - Barb of ND, USA writes:

Although cooking times need tweaking, I'm very satisfied with my oven. I use it several times a week. My son refers to it as the "chicken cooker" since I love to roast marinated chicken breasts in it so much. I freeze them in marinade or coated with a dry rub, then take them out as needed and cook from frozen in the FlavorWave.

Works well, but...

5/20/2008 - Robert Anderson of AZ, USA writes:

For the past 30 days I've been using the newest version to date called The Turbo Deluxe Flavor Wave that comes with a glass bowl rather than a plastic dome. The good news is this is a much improved design, sturdy and well built. There is nothing cheap looking about it (except maybe the lid holder). The bad news is the recommended cooking temps and time (for both frozen and thawed meat) cook the meat too fast, so the outside is brown, but the inside is still uncooked. For best results lower the temp. and extend the time. Also, cook most meats (including fish) on the lower rack, and whatever meat you cook count on flipping it halfway through the cooking cycle so both sides are browned and crispy. Frozen meat doesn't cook as well as fresh meat, but it's quite convenient thawing meat in the oven first at a lower temp before cooking at the proper temp. Contrary to the infomercial, it does NOT cook the inside and outside of the meat at the same time. It still cooks from the outside in. And I wouldn't say the meat comes out tasting better or worse than a conventional oven. It tastes the same if you know what you're doing. In my opinion, grilling on an outdoor grill is still king in terms of taste. I recommend buying the extendor ring for cooking whole chickens, keeping the heating element a safe distance from the meat. Tip #1: place the grill/rack on a Pyrex glass pie dish to catch drippings...makes cleanup a snap. Tip #2: Add a little water to the pie dish to keep the meat from drying out. Tip #3: keep notes. You just need to get used to the oven settings that work best for you. This comes with experience. I love being able to view the meat from all angles compared to a conventional oven. Plus, this oven practically cleans itself...add water and detergent to the bowl and set temp to wash, then rinse & dry. Works great! Alternatively, everything can be placed in the dishwasher as well. If I had it to do over, yes, I would still buy it. In fact, I plan to upgrade when the Flavor Wave Platinum version becomes available. Like with most things, it just takes some getting used to, but overall I'm well pleased. I hope this review helps with your decision.

Great Product

5/12/2008 - LeeM of Naples, FL 34110, USA writes:

I have been using this Thane product now for over 6 months and it has changed the way that I eat. It is everything that the TV program said it would be. The food comes out of it from a fresh or frozen state very juicy and tender - as good as or better than as if it were cooked on my grill. I'll admit it is not as easy to clean as was my grill, but I never really cleaned my grill the way I do this oven. I have tried almost everything from vegetables to frozen roasts and have been amazed at the results. Though the plastic shell cracked it was replaced with no complaint and no charge, right away. I love the thing. This is the first review that I have ever written but I thought that if others are skeptical as I was you should know that this is one super product. (I did not originally buy the chopper with it, but went back and bot it - really glad I did.)

Broken Top twice

4/15/2008 - Dale of OH, USA writes:

The Deluxe model plastic top has broken twice. Looks like they realize this was a flaw since the new Turbo is made of glass. Customer Service very very poor.

Had years ago.

3/29/2008 - Julene of Missouri, USA writes:

I had one of these when I was single and cooked for myself, I loved it. I didn't have to use a whole oven just for a small meal. I had a small stone pan and loved to make four hot chocolate chip cookies. If you don't have an oven, this will do the job for you.

Is this a copy of the NuWave?

3/9/2008 - Ronald of Alabama, USA writes:

I have run into differently branded products before, portable burner, and wondered, this looks strangely like the NuWave Oven. Is it just me?

Not what it appears to be

2/4/2008 - marie of Manitoba, Canada writes:

I have not even had this product for a year and have had to have the heater control replaced 2 times, at my expense of shipping which is not cheap. It works for a little while, but then the cooking time starts to increase with usage, leaving food uncooked! Yes I bragged to people about the product, but after time....can not do that anymore. Not satisfied. Now today, while using it the dome crated a crack. I guess you can only use it once in a while, not when ever you want.

One that really works

1/28/2008 - Mark of Virginia, USA writes:

Have used this for about 3 years. Also bought the extender ring and had the plastic dome replaced for only $5.95 S&H. Have had no problems with the mechanism and cooks a frozen solid, bone-in ribeye roast in 2.5 hours or so. Easy to clean. Awesome product for $100.

Buyer Beware

1/23/2008 - Sara of Ohio, USA writes:

Not only was I NOT impressed with how it cooks, but after only 5 uses the heating element failed. After talking with customer service I find out that I not only have to pay shipping to return the DEFECTIVE unit, but I ALSO have to pay shipping for them to send me a new heating element! We're talking between $25 and $30 in extra shipping charges just to get a PROPERLY WORKING heating unit! This is the absolute worst warranty I have ever had to deal with. I purchased something, thinking it would work for years, and it breaks in just a few uses. Then, I'm expected to PAY MORE money to get something that works! I sure wish this had broken within the first 30 days so I could have my money refunded. The thing cooks unevenly (burns the tops of food and the inside is still rare), you have to keep the cord from touching the hot surface or it smells like it's melting, and it's not any faster than my oven! Also note, Flavorwave only posts the POSITIVE comments on their web site, so don't be fooled by all the great comments.

Amazing

1/5/2008 - Dave of Missouri, USA writes:

I'm totally amazed by the oven. Its one of the first things that I have purchased from an infomercial and I am impressed. It does everything as advertised. I've used it for about 3yrs and am ready to order a new one. Great job flavor wave. I'm using an older model therefore I'm giving it a 4 instead of a five star due to a lack of some of the newer models features.

Love It

12/12/2007 - Linda of Illinois, USA writes:

I used the oven as soon as I received it. I had an older roast in the freezer to try it on. I would have thrown it out. It cooked, from the frozen state, in 1 hr 45 min and my husband said it was wonderful. Hope this cooks as well all the time, and over time.

Didn't last 6 months

12/5/2007 - Amit of Nebraska, USA writes:

Bought the product after seeing it on TV. Initially worked okay and I was pretty happy, but after about 4 months, the thermostat cutoff doesn't work and the light stays on continuousy. This causes the unit to overheat releasing a burning smell. I don't think I'll bother writing to the company because I don't want to pay anything more on this appliance. Guess we all get burnt by a bad product once in a while.

Don't Waist Your Money

11/28/2007 - Tony of Texas, USA writes:

Just ruined my second Roast. First was Ribeye Roast. This was Chuck Roast. Meat comes out spongee. Have tried several steaks with same result. Will sell it to anyone in US for 75.00 and I will pay shipping. If you like [], this will probably produce good food for you. No disrespect meant. If you like good food, don't buy one.

I love my oven

11/16/2007 - Gina of Texas, USA writes:

I love my oven. I am going to buy one for each of my kids. I use it all the time. I have cooked turkeys, whole chickens, baby back ribs and bacon. I love the fact that it is so easy to clean and yes it does take up room but so does a convection oven that sits on the counter. My Flavorwave oven stays out all the time so I can use it easily. It has never failed me and works like advertised. The only negative is the dome does turn yellow. No big deal. The wire to rest the dome could be improved upon but I have not had problems with it. I like how it cycles to keep the food warm. As far as drying out, I have never had that problem. The other people need to reprogram their cooking time. My food has always come out real juicy.

D+

11/15/2007 - Jen of California, USA writes:

Not a very good product. It did not cook my food evenly and only cooks a few amount of food at a time so it kept my big family waiting for the second batch of food I had to cook. If you are baking, it requires for you to preheat the container you will be baking on. I dont recomend it to friends and will never buy one again. What a waste of money.
