DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!

3/2/2008 - Rebecca of Washington, USA writes:

There are problems with this product, and I advised Edenpure immediately. It arrived last Friday and I commenced using it. The first problem is that it emits some type of fumes, and in addition it is drying out the air in the living room so severely, that it is both triggering my asthma and causing me to have severe throat irritation. Keep in mind that my "house" electric heating system (which I am not currently running) is forced air electric in the walls, and in ten years that forced air heat has never caused the kind of drying of the air that this product caused in running for one evening. The second problem is that it pulls so much electrical current it trips the circuit breakers. These are not breakers which have any so-called major appliances on them, or anything which resembles same. I found one circuit it does not trip because there is only a small 25 watt lamp on it. And yet when I turn their heater up into the red colored range, that small lamp actually dims because the current pull from their heater is so great. My house is not old and there is nothing unusual about the wiring or the breakers. This heater is obviously not energy efficient in any way, looking at the amount of current it draws. I have used liquid oil filled radiant heaters that are much lower wattage than this thing, much smaller, use almost no current, and put out far superior heat, and above all do not represent a health and fire risk. All of these effects are counter to what Edenpure advertises that their heater does. The product is not going to be useable to me because of these issues. It is obviously not in any way what it is sold as. I would never have purchased this heater if I had been aware of these issues. The icing on the cake is that Edenpure takes a 15% restocking fee on ALL returned merchandise regardless of the reason, and I will have to pay my own return shipping. In fact in completing the online RMA request to authorize a return, the customer is forced under duress to put their initials in a box saying they accept the 15% restocking fee policy, before the company will even consider issuing a return authorization. I could not be unhappier with this product or this company.

Bait and switch endepure

2/28/2008 - steve of Oregon, USA writes:

Let the buyer be ware-this product could not heat a paper bag in July in the middle of the desert!! Tried not one - not two but three different models. Until I was so upset that I gave it away. Make sure your home has LOW ceilings- and the sq footage does not exceed 500 sq feet.I bought the xl-1000 model I could just barely keep my living room at 62 degrees on high for 8 hours. Not sure where their reserachers come from- but I'd give thme a big fat "F" Don't waste your time or money its not worth it.. Sorry Paul Harvey but noe I do knoe the rest of the story-- its a losser product!!!!!!!

What a dumb ass!

2/28/2008 - James of Wyoming, USA writes:

This it your typical "hook, line and sinker story. I used a my Eden Pure heater to supplement my heat in my sons room for the month of January as it was a real cold month. I recieved my electric bill for the month of January and it was $390.00. That is over three times what my electric bill usually runs a month. I wish I knew then what I know now. Of course after the fact I got to thinking "infared" they use infared bulbs that must be around 250 watts per bulb,4 each for a 1000 watt heater. Boy talk about stupid! I use the same type of bulb when we lamb and have baby goats and the bill is reflective of that use during that time of year. What was I thinking? I guess I could use it for a night stand, seeings how I won't ever plug it in again.

Made in China

2/25/2008 - Solange of California, USA writes:

My EdenPure product lasted just over 2 months, then completely broke down. Cleaning the filter did not bring it back to life. I feel like a fool for not checking --before I bought it!--where it was made: China, so now it's no surprise that it fell apart just after the return/money back period ended. Paul Harvey and AARP: shame on you!

Useless.

2/24/2008 - Linda of New Mexico, USA writes:

I am shocked that Paul Harvey, one of the most trusted names in journalism would lend his name to such a useless piece of "machinery." The product simply does not perform ANYTHING like how it is advertised. It can be used ONLY as a secondary heater and then just barely. I don't know how the company stays in business!

Oversize Toaster

2/22/2008 - Ron of Michigan, USA writes:

I bought an Eden Pure 1000 and used it for 2 months. The product worked fine for my 176 square foot room but when I got my electric bill it was 120 buck more than without using it. I didn't use it on high very often and I don't believe it would heat up to 1000 square feet like it advertised because my whole house is only 1100 square feet and it just kept one room comfortable. I really didn't see a "savings" in my LP gas bill either. It did quit working once. Nothing more than a clogged air filter though. Being on a limited budget I could not afford to use it so I unplugged it and have not used it since. I don't recommend buying one if your looking to save money. I can't believe I got suckered like that. I believe it worked like a toaster oven with a fan. Raw electric! If I had known how it worked before buying it I would not have purchased it. Infra red, I thought it heated the air while using limited electric like some new space age heater they advertised. I was very unsatisfied with it considering Paul Harvy endorsed it as an energy savings product. I feel I was taken for a ride.

Not worth the money

2/19/2008 - Patty of Pennsylvania, USA writes:

Bought the Eden Pure 1000 for over $400 with tax. We have used it for 2 months and our electric bill is sky high. It is more expense to use then the oil furnace we have. You can not reculate the heat on it if you turn it down to the comfort zone it does not turn on you either have to run it on high or it doesn't work. Called where we bought it and they said it probably done that because it wasn't cold enough in the house to operate on the comfort zone. How cold does it have to get down to 50 degrees in the house for it to operate on the comfort zone. Our electric bill went from under a $100 a month to almost $300. I don't see any savings at all on a person's heating bill. In fact I think you pay more out for heating using the Eden Pure Heater. When they say it saves half on your heating bill it is probably right but they neglect to say you will pay a huge electric bill so you are not saving any money on heating your home at all. I think it is false avertising when they make thier claims on tv. I would not recommend the Eden Pure Heater to anymone it is a rip off. It is a expense heater to buy and it is even more expensive to operate.

Love It!

2/18/2008 - Alex of Ohio, USA writes:

I purchased an Eden Pure heater about two years ago and it still works great. I use it to heat my living room and I notice the furnace dosen't come on as often as it use to. It does heat a room nicely, it's not supposed to heat the whole house, after all it is just a space heater and I like that the outside dosen't get hot. With small ones and pets running around, that's always a plus. All in all it does what a space heater should, heat the space around you.

Eden Pure 500 model... pure junk

2/18/2008 - Zack of New Hampshire, USA writes:

I bought the 500 model Eden Pure heater in November after my usually reliable neighbor talked up the heater. The unit died after 35 days and when I called they said sorry no refund. I received my label to ship it back and it's been two months without any communication. I called the toll free number and got a voice mail today. We have since bought a new furnace and rezoned our heating so we don't even need this useless heater. What do you think my chances of getting my money back are.... slim to none. I would not recommend this company to anyone. After reading the reviews it's apparent that many of thier units are junk! Hopefully, a class action suit is coming soon. Count me in.

Junk?

2/15/2008 - Melissa of Arkansas, USA writes:

We ordered the Sun Twin in November 2007 started using in January 2008, used 4 times and now only lights come on - it will not heat. Calls have been made for shipping labels for a repair, but so far after 2 calls and almost a month has passed we have no labels or correspondence from them. We spent $450 on something that we felt would be great, but what a disappointment and a rip-off. Hopefully, we will end up with a repaired unit soon. If we don't get any satifaction we will report them to the Better Business Bureau - I'm sure that they have already had complaints.

EdenPure Heaters

2/14/2008 - Julie of Wyoming, USA writes:

I would not recommend this heater. I have purchased 10 of these heaters, in both sizes. Within anywhere from 3 months to 1 year I have had to send in each heater for repairs. It has been cost prohibitive instead of a cost savings. I have subsequentially found that inexpensive heaters to be just as effective and without hitting the pocket book.

Add me to the suckers

2/12/2008 - david of Indiana, USA writes:

You can add me to the 500XL suckers! First arrived in Dec07 - ding in top and inside parts rattling around. Did NOT plug in and waited forever for the return label and was stupid twice for accepting and exchange. Unit 2 finally arrived, worked, stunk like rotten eggs, and DIED in 5 days of less than 6 hours a night ! Waited - AGAIN - for the label. Shipped back and it arrived ( UPS tracking confirms) the next day 2/1/08 and I am STILL waiting for my full refund on 2/12? Slow mail from OH to IN? DO NOT get sucked in on this "hot air" farce !

EDENPURELY WORTHLESS

2/9/2008 - fred of South Dakota, USA writes:

Well, if only I had read some reviews of this product, I could have saved myself $300. As it is, I naively believed Paul Harvey and AARP and bought an EdenPure. Guess what! It stopped working after about two months, and I know trying to get a replacement will be an adventure. To me, $300 is a lot of money to just throw away, so I'm a little unsure as to how much time and effort to spend on getting my pound of flesh from EdenPure. Any one smell a class-action lawsuit?

A different viewpoint

2/9/2008 - Clarence of Ohio, USA writes:

I bought an EdenPure 1000 heater in Nov. this year. It worked fine for six weeks. Then it refused to heat for more than a few minutes--oops, didn't read all the instruc-tions. Filter was plugged. Works fine now that the filter is kept clean. I have a space that is somewhat larger (750 sq. ft.)than this is advertized for, and use it to supplement an oil furnace. It keeps a small area comfortable with the thermostat set at 66 deg. Also, cuts down on the oil used. I figure a saving of over 3 gal./day. Cost of power @ 8 ct/KwH $40--50/mo., running it 16 hr./d. Does it work well? Yes. Does it save money? For me, it does.

Not All That Is Advertised

2/8/2008 - Gary of Texas, USA writes:

UPDATE: This product worked, just not as well as I felt was advertised. I am in the process of returning the product after 4 days of usage. The lengthy list of return charges for the customer seem to indicate this might be a troubled product.

Poor Product Lousy Company

2/8/2008 - Judith Ann of Washington, USA writes:

We purchased the Eden Pure 1000 XL heater, $397 on 11/02/07, within three weeks it quit working. We contacted Eden Pure and requested a replacement unit. Took over a month to get the replacement unit and within three weeks it too failed. So we contacted Eden Pure again to return the defective unit and ask for a refund, BUT the refund is only good within the first 30 days of your purchase so NO REFUND. Then they commence to tell me that the manufacturer just figured out that the filter they used inside the machine was too dense and after a short time it gets clogged and without proper air flow the machine shuts down. The product never fully lived up to all its claims and it has a one year warranty but if you monkey with it you void the warranty. We're totally annoyed with EdenPure for not standing behind their product and refunding our money for a poorly designed and defective unit. I would not recommend this product or company to anyone, it is a waste of time and money. I am going to file a complaint with the better business bureau to see about getting my money back, $397 is way too much money to just blow off, especially with such a widely advertised product to not stand behind it is bad business. I would not recommend anyone go through this agony with such a poor product.

gave it a shot

2/2/2008 - SKEETER of Ohio, USA writes:

I REALLY wanted this to work. I got the 1000 model. I was on the safe side, heating about 700 ft. It was a nice looking unit, and the cabinet did not get hot, as described. I tried it in various locations around the room for a week. The temp outside didn't get below 25. It was cold in the room most of the time. I had it right in front of where I sit at one point, and still was not warm. In order to make it even remotely in the room warm it had to run constantly. The customer service people were very friendly, and polite. They gave me no problems about returning it (so far). They sent me a return tag for UPS. I am not sure if they credited my card account for it yet or how long it will take, nor do I know if they charged me fees for returning it. I replaced it with a Holmes infrared heater I got at wallmart on sale. It keeps the room much warmer and cycles on and off, and is the same wattage as the Edenpure. In summary, this was a moderate amount of hassle to go through. Doing the research on it, reading all the materials, ordering it, messing around trying to find a place for it that it would function as described from. Then repackaging it and taking it to an UPS dropoff point. And, a bitter disappointment. Not worth the bother.
