I am on my second unit. First unit just stopped working. The first I had less than a month. They were helpful in sending me a new one however in the third month of using it it too has stopped working. The fan kept getting noisier and nosier and then just stopped. I would love to get my money back but that probaly won't happen. There heating capacity was not any where near what they claimed. Bad deal all around! Betty

Purchased 2 XL1000 units ... Both stopped working within a week and I have requested return labels twice over the last month ... No labels ... Are they waiting until the warranty runs out ... Very disappointed with heaters and customer service and Paul Harvey ... Wondering if I will ever get my money back ... Is there a class action ???

As I read these reviews I felt fear in buying my heater. But at any event I went ahead and ordered one. The Edenpure 1000XL. I Love it! It works great. I have 2 kids and one gets nose bleeds all the time. This stopped the nose bleeds because it didnt take the humidity out of my room. Yes my electric bill went up. It costs about 1.20 a day to run. (About 75.00 a month) But its much cheaper than gas. This thing is NOT designed to heat a whole house. But to be used to offset my furnace and gas bill. I can leave it running while my kids are in the room and not worry about it burning them. Another really cool thing is just how healthy this heat is. I tried a space heater from home depot and it burned up all the oxygen in the room. While we sit in the living room with the ceramic heater going, we would get sleepy. The Edenpure infrared lights doesnt burn the air so it keeps the oxygen in the air. I highly recommend it. Espeically if you take a pot of water or a cool mist vaporizer and use it in concert with the heater. It really makes our home warm. Even the surfaces are warm like the floors and tables. (my toddlers feet dont freeze) When we run our furnace or our old space heater it just burns the air. I could go on and on. I will say try placing it in differnet parts of the room. It took us a couple of days to find the magic spot. It not going to heat 1000 sq feet like they advertise unless its a wide open room, simply because its not using heat ducts. So it cant go through doors and walls. I highly recommend one. We are going to get 2 for next year and put one at the other end of our house.

This heater has two issues: One you never rate it against other electrical heaters, heat pumps, for cost. ONLY oil. Then it literally pays for itself in four months. The other comparisons watt for watt are identical EXCEPT IR heaters do not burn the air, there is no acrid smell, the moist air does hang better in the room. That said the other issue is RELIABLITY. I bought four of these--the Chinese firm that makes them needs a workover in its reliability department, two of the four heater failed first year, with same issues, including busted reostat and fan failures. TERRIBLE! Return service was good, but replacements no better. These folks need to go back to the drawing board, I am back to ceramic heaters safely placed, with open water in the room to replace humidity, for about 280 bucks for FOUR, not one refurbished unit.

Please do not buy this product. They will tell you all they want to just to get a sale. Upon receiving this comfortzone heater and plugging it in to use, all circut breakers blew. We have a 13 year old 1,100 sq. foot house. We tried every plug in the house and the circuts continued to blow. We were even told by the tech support employee to use an extension cord- if you look in the manual is states never to use one of those. I assume for fire hazard reasons. Regardless, our first electric bill tripled what it has always been. PLEASE take consumer experience advice before Paul Harvey's or the distributors advice to buy one, not only to save yourself money but to save endless hours on the phone with the distributor to get a replacement or your money back. My advice more then i can say: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS!

between my family and I we have 7 units. We love them to death and they are awsome. You have to use them in conjunction with your main heat source. I have my gas set on about 60 degrees and mu eden pure heaters keep the temp about 68 in the living areas. This unit is made to maintain the heat source. You are not to use as a main heat source but to use as supplemental heat. Some people think this will heat there entire house byitself, its not a maricle worker.

I ordered four of these 1500 watt products over time, about $1250 for the older models, including 2 alleged scratch and dent (read refurbished) models, and here's the bottom line: Most folks here feel bamboozled. Here's my experience, and a summary of all of the above. If you're comparing OIL heat, and it's rising price at $3.35 a gallon, EDENPURE will cut your NET bill enough in a 2750 square foot house, to pay for themselves, in my case all four units in ONE SEASON. IT DID FOR ME. DEAD BANG. BUT don't bother if you've heat pumps, natural gas (for the reasonable forseeable future). You'll never be able to match the cost angle, although, the heat QUALITY is as described, moist and warm without a burning or drying sensation suffered ALL other heating processes. BUT RELIABILITY SUX! as you can see from these posts--it's getting these units to last more than one season. There are thermostat and heating element RELIABILITY issues-these fail almost initially (called infant mortality), or over a short period of time (one heating season) and you either ship the box back and hastle with its weight and customer service, or do without. These Edenpure folks, for all their touting of heavenly, ask for trust on that account. RELIABILITY, cost comparisons against oil only, would yield greater fandom than that expressed here. These folks need a redesign, and a trip to China to ensure quality control, and testing to make sure these units work on an independent test pad. Till then, I am hunting for other IR heaters with better reputation for reliability. The concept is ok.

I called customer service about an Edenpure that needed servicing after the warranty had just run out. I was told that even though the warranty was out that they would replace it at no cost. I was responsible for the shipping cost only. Couple of weeks later I got a call that I did not include by $89 servicing fee. I called back and related that I was told there would be no fee. Now, I can't get the heater back unless I send in the $89. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?

I purchased the larger model heater. These folks are really slick... boasting quite a convincing marketing approach. Not only have they cleverly exploited those of us who are simply trying to survive by cutting our utility costs... but they appear to be getting away with it! They are quick to take our money but when it comes to returns... they have a clever system of discouraging returns by keeping a portion of our money and making us jump through hoops. Our electricity has just about doubled since we have begun using the unit. I was informed after purchase that I would have to pay an appliance repair center to replace the bulbs at some point. I was also told that attempting to replace the bulbs myself would result in the warrantee being void. This has got to be one of the most misrepresented products I have had the experience to purchase in a long time. It is difficult to get people on the phone when you have a complaint. The manufacturer has also cleverly insulated themselves from a majority of complaints since many of the sales of their products are farmed out to other retailers. I am so beside myself because I recently purchased one of their air purifiers on line from a farmed out sales outfit that created the appearance that we were buying directly from them, Duped once again! They are also very clever about creating the appearance that the units are cost effective to have over time failing to divulge the required purchase of bulbs keeping us on the hook as a cash cow for as long as we use their product. I wish to God I had researched this product on the internet prior to making these purchases. What weighed heavily for me was that the company was endorsed by Paul Harvey... shame on you Paul Harvey for taking part in this Grand Scam of our hard earned money! Double shame on you for lending your name to a company such as this that has likely scamed people out of millions at a time when they have the least to spend... all in an effort to simply survive in an economy that is hurting us all. My question? Were you paid by this company in exchange for your endorsement? I am confident that this scam will catch up to Biotech and its self serving co horts. I smell a class action suite... the sooner the better.

Bought the 500... it failed within 20 days... A real hassel to get service. Finally, offer was to send a 1000xl, at no extra charge. 1000xl arrived, it failed within a week. More hassel, finally they agreed to take it back and refund the price on the 500. They at first said no.. you have had it over 30 days. Then we told them the 1000XL had one serial number. The box had a different number, and bar code had a different number too. That's when they said the refund would be forthcoming, but be patient. Wonderful heat when it worked.

After listening to Paul Harvey's accolades about Eden Pure, I decided to purchase the top of the line Sun Twin heater last year to supplement heating and hopefully reduce the natural gas bill. The unit is: Very inefficient in operation and will not heat a small single room let alone a 1,000 sq/ft area. Very energy inefficient. The unit draws a significant amount of power to operate and produce what heat it does. The unit's fan is noisy...more so than any other space heater I have tried in the past with the exception of a oil filled raditor style. The unit is large and takes up a fair amount of space, especially in a small room. The quality of the wooden cabinet is very low, essentially cheap plywood with stain, and not very square. The unit is built in Vietnam.... The unit is very expensive espeically considering how it stacks up to other heaters on the market. I did a very unscientific comparison study, same day, same outdoor temp, very similar rooms, etc... A heater made by Vornado which costs less than 1/4 the amount for the Sun Twinn outperformed it in every catagory! I will never trust Mr. Harvey again, and hope some level of class action suit takes place very quickly to put BioTech Research, the so called manufacturer/distributor of these products out of business...or at least demands they take all the units back at full cost, including shipping/handling.

My father is usually a hard one to get one over on. But, with Mr. Harvey giving the EdenPURE such high praise, he not only purchased one for himself, he talked his sister right into one also. Now, given the fact that they are both over 62 and on limited income, it would be an understatement to say they are dissatisified. 'THE REST OF THE STORY' will never be the same. Did someone say class action suit?

DO NOT USE ALL CAPS. We love our EdenPure Heater. We purchased it about two years ago. It puts out wonderful heat, taking care of our upstairs bedroom areas quite adequately. Do people only speak to gripe, never when they are satisfied, I wonder. I plan on purchasing more of the same for our church fellowship hall. I referred them to three friends and family members who purchased them, and feel about the product as we do.

I bought this product based off of Paul Harveys advertising and supposed experience. We live in a 240 sq ft 5th wheel travel trailer in Central Texas. (warm climate) It does not even come close to heating this sq footage and is their highest priced unit, SunTwin 1500 Elite. Now to return it they want 15% of the purchase price. Not too impressive albeit their advertising works. These units should be taken off of the market for false, misleading advertising. This is the last time that I listen to Mr. Harvey.

I was just really surprised when nearly all of the reviews came back as negative, and wanted to say that the product isn't entirely bad. I don't know if it's because I'm in TX away from the hyper-cold weather, but I've had really good luck with my heater. I work in a small business, and we use one 1000XL to heat both of our offices, total space is about 25 x 20 or so. We've gotten to the point that this is the only source of heat we use, and everyone I work with seems to like the type of heat it produces because it doesn't dry out the air. Okay, I feel like I've done my bit, I'm going back to ebay now.

I read all the good and bad before purchase. I have had a good experience with my EdenPURE Heater. I did a lot of research before my purchase. I found out that many of the heaters problems were worked out and taken care of. My experenice has be a good one. Dakota Heater was very helpful in answering my questions concerning the product. Please don't be like me. Read the instructions first. If you do I am sure you will be happy.

I bought the Edenpure about two years ago and it works great for me. It warms my living room and my furnace dosen't even come on as much as it used to. Of course, the heater isn't going to heat the whole house, after all it is just a space heater, but with this heater I feel better because it dosen't get hot on the outside and I can live without worry especially with pets roaming around. Everyone has their own opinion about this heater, there's those who are going to complain none stop, but it's never given me a problem and I like it.

My landlord has a EdenPUre in my apt.. My apt is small as hell, and the 500xl does NOT even warm up my living room. I have to use the edenpure plus space heaters. So whats the point of this rip off product.

My dad bought 4 of these heaters. 2 big ones and 2 little ones. I live in a downstairs apt, which is way colder than the upstairs. I have to run the damn thing all the time plus 2 space heaters to keep it comfortable. I'm nervous about getting the electric bill. Heat and all utilities are supposed to be included. But with running that edenpure all the time, i will actually be paying for the heat. My living room is small and this product can barley heat it. EDEN PURE can go to hell!!

I bought the most expensive model-$449- which is supposed to heat a fairly large room "in minutes"! I live in Florida, not a very cold state and in 2 hours or more, it did NOT heat my room. I have to stay 2 feet from it to feel the heat. I will try to return it; lets see what happened!
