EdenPure Heaters

2/14/2008 - Julie of Wyoming, USA writes:

I would not recommend this heater. I have purchased 10 of these heaters, in both sizes. Within anywhere from 3 months to 1 year I have had to send in each heater for repairs. It has been cost prohibitive instead of a cost savings. I have subsequentially found that inexpensive heaters to be just as effective and without hitting the pocket book.

Add me to the suckers

2/12/2008 - david of Indiana, USA writes:

You can add me to the 500XL suckers! First arrived in Dec07 - ding in top and inside parts rattling around. Did NOT plug in and waited forever for the return label and was stupid twice for accepting and exchange. Unit 2 finally arrived, worked, stunk like rotten eggs, and DIED in 5 days of less than 6 hours a night ! Waited - AGAIN - for the label. Shipped back and it arrived ( UPS tracking confirms) the next day 2/1/08 and I am STILL waiting for my full refund on 2/12? Slow mail from OH to IN? DO NOT get sucked in on this "hot air" farce !

EDENPURELY WORTHLESS

2/9/2008 - fred of South Dakota, USA writes:

Well, if only I had read some reviews of this product, I could have saved myself $300. As it is, I naively believed Paul Harvey and AARP and bought an EdenPure. Guess what! It stopped working after about two months, and I know trying to get a replacement will be an adventure. To me, $300 is a lot of money to just throw away, so I'm a little unsure as to how much time and effort to spend on getting my pound of flesh from EdenPure. Any one smell a class-action lawsuit?

A different viewpoint

2/9/2008 - Clarence of Ohio, USA writes:

I bought an EdenPure 1000 heater in Nov. this year. It worked fine for six weeks. Then it refused to heat for more than a few minutes--oops, didn't read all the instruc-tions. Filter was plugged. Works fine now that the filter is kept clean. I have a space that is somewhat larger (750 sq. ft.)than this is advertized for, and use it to supplement an oil furnace. It keeps a small area comfortable with the thermostat set at 66 deg. Also, cuts down on the oil used. I figure a saving of over 3 gal./day. Cost of power @ 8 ct/KwH $40--50/mo., running it 16 hr./d. Does it work well? Yes. Does it save money? For me, it does.

Not All That Is Advertised

2/8/2008 - Gary of Texas, USA writes:

UPDATE: This product worked, just not as well as I felt was advertised. I am in the process of returning the product after 4 days of usage. The lengthy list of return charges for the customer seem to indicate this might be a troubled product.

Poor Product Lousy Company

2/8/2008 - Judith Ann of Washington, USA writes:

We purchased the Eden Pure 1000 XL heater, $397 on 11/02/07, within three weeks it quit working. We contacted Eden Pure and requested a replacement unit. Took over a month to get the replacement unit and within three weeks it too failed. So we contacted Eden Pure again to return the defective unit and ask for a refund, BUT the refund is only good within the first 30 days of your purchase so NO REFUND. Then they commence to tell me that the manufacturer just figured out that the filter they used inside the machine was too dense and after a short time it gets clogged and without proper air flow the machine shuts down. The product never fully lived up to all its claims and it has a one year warranty but if you monkey with it you void the warranty. We're totally annoyed with EdenPure for not standing behind their product and refunding our money for a poorly designed and defective unit. I would not recommend this product or company to anyone, it is a waste of time and money. I am going to file a complaint with the better business bureau to see about getting my money back, $397 is way too much money to just blow off, especially with such a widely advertised product to not stand behind it is bad business. I would not recommend anyone go through this agony with such a poor product.

gave it a shot

2/2/2008 - SKEETER of Ohio, USA writes:

I REALLY wanted this to work. I got the 1000 model. I was on the safe side, heating about 700 ft. It was a nice looking unit, and the cabinet did not get hot, as described. I tried it in various locations around the room for a week. The temp outside didn't get below 25. It was cold in the room most of the time. I had it right in front of where I sit at one point, and still was not warm. In order to make it even remotely in the room warm it had to run constantly. The customer service people were very friendly, and polite. They gave me no problems about returning it (so far). They sent me a return tag for UPS. I am not sure if they credited my card account for it yet or how long it will take, nor do I know if they charged me fees for returning it. I replaced it with a Holmes infrared heater I got at wallmart on sale. It keeps the room much warmer and cycles on and off, and is the same wattage as the Edenpure. In summary, this was a moderate amount of hassle to go through. Doing the research on it, reading all the materials, ordering it, messing around trying to find a place for it that it would function as described from. Then repackaging it and taking it to an UPS dropoff point. And, a bitter disappointment. Not worth the bother.

NOT WORTH A DIME

2/2/2008 - Yvonne of Quebec, Canada writes:

Purchased the Edenpure the 20th of December 2007 and already its not working anymore. Some moments it stays on for hours, when its warm, but when the temperature gets down to -16 Celcius it wont start. I dont sleep anymore because we have to get up at night because the house gets so cold. All in all we are sending it back. Its not worth a dime

Eden Pure a Joke

1/31/2008 - Ray of Kansas, USA writes:

This is a bad product with a poor service plan. Heater will only work for appox. 6 to 8 weeks and then they stop. You must un-plug and re-plug each time you want them to cycle. I have spend over $100.00 in postage on returning these stoves and they still owe me a stove. Sorry for this bad review but it is the Truth. Ray in Kansas

Don't buy this heater!

1/31/2008 - Andrea of California, USA writes:

We bought the EdenPURE 500-XL heater for our baby's room after hearing how it can't catch on fire and won't get hot to the touch. The heater worked ok if we wanted the room at about 75 degrees or 60 degrees, but none of the 5 settings kept the room between those two temperatures. Then after only 2 months it stopped working completely. I called two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for the return label to arrive. This is a terrible product.

PureJunk

1/30/2008 - Bronwyn of Nebraska, USA writes:

Well, I certainly agree with what everyone else said. What a piece of junk!!! At least some of you had heat for 3 weeks. Mine never ran. If I turned the furnace thermostat down to 60 - guess what, the room was 60; if it was set at 55 - you guessed it, room was 55. The thing never turned on. I can certainly see why it is advertised to save on heating bills - you keep turning down the heat to see at what point the EdenPure will turn on. And try to call the company - good luck. They don't answer. Probably they're talking to all you other guys. Never thought about using the thing for a coffee table. What a novel idea!!!! Expensive, but novel.

Not Worth The money

1/28/2008 - omar of North Carolina, USA writes:

I read the instruction, I was happy when I First run the model 1000 in a 60 degree day. but my $40 space heater out perform this $400 by far in the cold days. this heater is noisy, cheep thermostat and now one year later the fan is making a noise. Paul Harvey's lied about this product. I should not believe his rest of the story next time I’m listening to the am channel.

Very Disappointed

1/28/2008 - John of Montana, USA writes:

In the fall of 2006 based on the endorsement from Paul Harvey, I purshased the EdenPure 500. I have a 30'X 50' fully insulated two car garage. Our winters here in Helena are ocassionally extremely cold, and I was looking for something to keep the garage tempreture above freezing. Nothing more. Last year I used it a total of eighty hours or less. We had a pretty miled winter. This year, our tempreture dropped to nearly 30 degrees below zero. In anticipation of the severe weather, I plugged in my EdenPure 500 on the same stand I used last year. It is approximately 36 inches tall, so the unit was well off the concrete floor. I set the dial below the "comfort zone" because I was not trying to heat the entire garage. I just wanted to maintain a tempreture above freezing. It came on, started to produce warm air, so I closed and locked the door. When I came out the next morning, the light was on, and that's all. The owner's manual states that you should get from 3,000 to 5,000 hours of use. I didn't get more than 100. I paid nearly $300 for the heater, and I certainly did not get my money's worth. I have boxed up the unit, paid the shipping, and sent it back. I will send a follow up to this and report the details of my experience with the customer service.

Got Burned Twice / Expect More To Come

1/26/2008 - Donnie of Kentucky, USA writes:

I have learned the hard way, (thanks to Eden Pure), to never let actors, popular name endorcements, and fancy camera work all trimmed out with well thought out twisted words fool me again. The 500xl thermostat was far from what was stated. There is no comfort level setting possible, unless it is at 66 degrees or at 74 degrees. None of the five settings would shut off in between these temps. I was told to unplugg for 15 minutes. This did help,(my electric bill only). The second unit I foolisly bought, before cold weather let me realize the problem with the first unit, lasted a whole 40 days before the pretty red switch light still worked very well, although the heat and fan died, I assume of natural causes. No autopsy was preformed except trying to get it shipped back to the funeral home from which I assume it was assembled at and where it came from. The following is not a complaint about thier service. It is meerly stating the facts which is expected of course to be equall to thier claims and product, thus there is no grip with me with customer service, it matches the product as it should. After 5 different 800 numbers, 2 strange acents, appr. 3 hours total phone time, and 3 weeks waiting on imaginary shipping labels that I was told by person number 6 never existed, anyway, after paying for shipping out of pocket as directed, I am currently awaiting to see my creit card credited for purchase price in full, (without charging the unadvertized 15% restocking fee ), and the promise of reimbersment of my shipping cost as I was told that it would be, verbal, by a unknown rep.(I,m sure I get that, ha).. If you can,t touch it, read about it on the box while holding it in your hand, and paying the sales clerk, eye ball to eye ball, while knowing your a short drive back to this known location and that you can speak to the same person you purchased it from. Better to be without. DON'T BUY IT !! I am currently awaiting the first unit to succome a slow death and begin much of the above to start all over again, in the meantime I would rate the product(s) one small tip of one corner of the five points of one star, but I can,t figure out how to do this, so will have to with one full star I guess. It does have a pretty cabinet, very nice to put your coffee cup on while watching 2 am infomercials because you can,t sleep due to past dealings with Eden Pure. Note: if you choose to use this product as previously suggested, NEVER place the unit near any availabe power source and you will eventually be satisfied with your Eden Pure purchase. It can then give you many years of happiness,(assuming they don't make coffee makers), and most importantly, save you hundreds of dollars just as was advertized, because you'll be reminded daily of a lesson well learned. Thank You.

Just Junk

1/25/2008 - David of Rhode Island, USA writes:

I purchased the 1000 in November. In 4 weeks it quit. It was returned and now going on 6 weeks there is no word from the company. This could be the worst product and company that I have ever dealt with!! Paul Harvey should reconsider which products he recommends.

Don't Count On It

1/25/2008 - Curtis of Michigan, USA writes:

I bought a 500 watt model in November. It arrived in about 10 days. I have electric zone heat now, so I did not expect any savings, and I was right. My fuel bills showed no change. The product is a space heater and it did heat ok, and then three weeks later it quit. I have waited weeks for replacement. The company has tryed three times to sell me another heater, but they can't ship a replacement for the one I already own. On my last call I was told that 12 weeks from the complaint to the replacement arriving was about normal. There is no local service of these heaters, and 12 weeks of down time for 3 weeks of service is more of a joke than the inflated claims, and the high price of the unit. If you actually NEED the heater to work aviod this product, and this company.

Does not live up to the hype

1/23/2008 - David of Virginia, USA writes:

Bought the 1000-XL because of Paul Harvey's hype. Did everything I could do to actually get it to heat up a small room - no go. And the outside temp never got into the anthing lower than twenty degrees. Did not know about a restocking fee. Feel very ripped off. Have some cheap electric radiators that actually heat up the place and they cost about forty bucks. Would avoid the product.
