As Heard on Paul Harvey?

12/12/2007 - Sheri of Oregon, USA writes:

Totally disappointed and out a lot of time and money. The electric meter spins as fast as a 1500 watt cheap heater (tested) and cannot heat up a 700 sq.ft. trailer. When the outside temp went below 40 degrees the inside temperature could not go above 60 degrees with the Edenpure. I am colder than before. Added to my disappointment of this product and it's false advertising I then learned that there is a 15% return fee plus shipping. All ads state "60-day satisfaction guarantee" and upon returning the internet form states 30 days. Then there is the written statement in the ad of "If you are not totally satisfied, your purchase price will be refunded." Now minus 15% - they don't even need fine print. This is a hoax. Great advertising - I was sucked in - in a big way. And still fighting.

Eden Pure 500 heater

12/10/2007 - David of Colorado, USA writes:

Have used two of these in winter over the last two years. Work ok in small rooms, but have had the quartz tubes burn out in both units, and were replaced under warranty. Now one has burnt out for the third time, and had to send it back at my own expense, even though it's still under warranty. I'm a geek, so next time, i'll find the tubes and fix it myself. Definately overpriced!

not worth it

12/8/2007 - Sarah of Michigan, USA writes:

We purchased this product hoping to save money by not having to purchase as much propane. Well we would not have to buy as much propane, but we ended up paying more in electric costs. This is only the start to winter and in Michigan it gets a lot colder. I couldn't imagine what the cost of running both the eden pure and another heat sorce would cost in the middle of winter. We didn't save money we spent more, and its not just us its my inlaws also. don't spend the money, its a waste. The eden pure does not get hot and it does heat the house even from room to room and top to bottom. but not worth the cost.

Dangerous

12/5/2007 - Judy of Kansas, USA writes:

We bought this product last year, and never noticed any kind of savings. And, then on the 1st week of using it this year, it melted the plastic on the front. We could have lost our home, pet family and everything, should we have not been in the room at the time. Terrible! And why do I have to give this product any stars? Not even worth one.

Ordinary Product, Extraordinary Price

12/4/2007 - Diane of New Hampshire, USA writes:

It sounded too good to be true and was. This product couldn't heat a small bathroom, let alone a room. As for the restocking fee, when I mentioned that the product must be defective as it did not perform as stated in their ad, they offered a free return shipping label. Either all the excellent ratings are posted by BioTech's stock holders, or they are shipping two entirely different products, because mine performed no better than a $25 heater you could purchase at []. A pricey ad in the NY Times doesn't ensure a good product.

very surprised

11/30/2007 - Richard of Maryland, USA writes:

I purchased the XL1000 a few weeks ago.I have a 900sq ft living area that has electric baseboard heat in living room, dining room,1 closed off bedroom, and bathroom at the far end of the house. When I fired up my Edenpure, I said ,"let's see what this baby can do", and I turned off all 4 baseboard heaters. To my surprise, this heater managed to heat the whole house. Even the bathroom at the far end of the house.Temps outside got into the 20's at night.I knew this unit was marketed to assist your main heat source but it really has a pretty good punch. I even located close to an outside wall(which they advise you not to do).I am not only impressed by the heating capabilities but I also have the deviated septum thing going on and this unit does not dry out the air in my home like the electric baseboard did.I haven't had it long enough to compare my electric bills, but just the shear fact that I sleep better at night is a big plus. It is surprising how a big flow of warm air comes out of that little grill. The unit seems well constructed and blends right in with my living room.Works for me!

I love this heater

11/26/2007 - Teresa of Indiana, USA writes:

My father bought the large unit last winter for us to put in our son's room. The 700 sq ft. room is above the garage and never gets warm. After one night, it made all of the difference. His room was very warm. We now keep the thermostat at 65. Our heat bill went up about $8.00, but our gas bill has dramatically decreased. We have a large home and want to purchase another one for our main floor. We have several other BioTech products. We have been very pleased with each one and their customer service has been excellent.

EdenPure is not the Garden of Eden

11/25/2007 - Michael of Iowa, USA writes:

I am not surprised this doesn't work well. As I skimmed the reviews for this product all I saw was overrated, scam, Dont Waste Your Money, False advertising, overhyped, and the list goes on. This sums up my whole experience with this heater. I bought the 500 to assist in heating my basement. It didn't work, and ran continuously. I'm a geek, so I'm keeping mine, and am in the process of re-engineering the product. I have built many electronic gadgets, computers, and re-egineered many similiar hoaxes. Once I have perfected the modifications I will post them to the public on the Internet. So, you're like me and don't mind a little tinkering with solder, and circuitry, keep an eye open for a cheaper version of this POS

Paid for themselves already.

11/21/2007 - Sue of Wisconsin, USA writes:

We bought 2 last winter for our 3000 sq. ft. house, to use for supplemental heat. They have been excellent for that use. Our propane bill has gone way down, and our electric bill went up some, as one would expect. Our total energy bill is down markedly. We feel the home is much more comfortable. We are investing in another unit this winter. We had one that broke right away. Fan but no heat. We sent it back and they sent a new one within 10 days.

How Heaters Work

11/18/2007 - Marty of Florida, USA writes:

I am an Electrical engineer so i understand how these heaters work. I tested one that a friend bought because he was unhappy about how it was working. He had the model 1000. These heater model numbers correspond to how may wqtts of electricity they use., so the model 1000 uses 1000 watts or 1KWH every hour. Most electric rates are 8 to 14 cents per KWH, so this model will cost you 8 to 14 cents every hour it is running. Now for the facts. This heater puts out no more heat than other cheap $20. heater that uses 1000 watts. It may be safer in the fact that it doesn't use a open filiment that can start a fire if it gets too close to some combustable material. But the newer and cheaper ceramic heaters are safe too and put out the same amount of heat for a lot less money. The EdenPURE is in a very large case to keep the case temperature low but the total heat it puts out is the same as any other 1000 watt heater.

The Edenpure heater scam

11/16/2007 - Anonymous of Massachusetts, USA writes:

I fell for the advertising for this product as many others before me. I purchased two of the edenpure model 500 heaters and set one of them up in a small room to enhance the central heating source for this small area. I let the unit run all night after turning the main thermostat down to 68 degrees for the night. In the morning the unit was still running full blast, and the temperature in the room was no different from the rest of the house. The advertising claims for this product is so over blown as to be illeagal. Here is how I beleive they make their money in spite of all of the returns. When I went to return the two units I was informed that there is a 15% restocking charge. The two units cost $297.00 x 2 x .15 = $89.10 + adders for shipping above and beyond the actual product. In the end what do you get for your money? Absolutely nothing! Pure profit for the seller! I should have reviewed the Consumers report on this product which puts it at the bottom of the list. At the bottom of this submittal form it asks if I would be interested in sharing my story with the news media, and I am checking off YES! absolutely! This company should be investigated.

Mine is good.

11/16/2007 - Ken of North Carolina, USA writes:

I bought our 1000 XL just over a year ago. At first it didn't really heat the room and I called to inquire about returning it to get my money back. The lady told me it may have a defective element and to send it back for free repair, so I decided to give it a try. The heater was back by UPS in less than a week, and it's worked great ever since. We like it enough that I'm going to get another one this winter. It uses less "juice" than any other I've had, and it's way more efficcient. If you get one that is working right, it'll do the job and more.

So far, so good!

11/11/2007 - Cam of Pennsylvania, USA writes:

We've had the new (2008) EdenPURE 1000XL for about a week now. I was skeptical and tried to discourage my wife from spending $400 on a 1500watt heater, when other 1500watt heaters (we have about 4 different types in our house already) can be purchased from $30-100 at any major chain store. As usual, I lost the argument, and the heater is keeping me comfortable as I type this. If our electric bill doesn't dramatically spike next month, and the heater continues to perform as it has thus far, I will be thoroughly satisfied. It heats a larger area, and does it more evenly than any other portable heater I haved tried. (ceramic disc, oil filled radiator, coil/fan oscillating, quartz tower, etc.) A fat, warm draft comes off the grill as if it was a large duct opening from a real furnace. It looks modern/impressive, and blends well with our decor, and is virtually silent. I'm really hoping to confuse the oil delivery man. Look for an update in the near future. Cam

Works Great!!!

11/10/2007 - Diane of Michigan, USA writes:

My husband talked me into buying this product. I has worked so far. We've had it for about a month, and before we turned on our regular gas furnace we used it and it heated up our whole house fine. Our main level is about 1100 sq. ft. we followed all the directions and it seems to work awesome. Only thing that happened was I woke up one night, not yet having the furnace on and I was freezing and my clock was not on at my nightstand, well the edenpure blew the fuse or circuit breaker and since we were all sleeping I know nothing else was running in the house. So, I think we are going to have to have it on its own breaker, funny it didn't happen till after 1 month of using it though. My only other concern is going to be the electric bill, and I will not leave on when not home, so you have to have some other source on for backup. In Michigan in the winter I can not see leaving the furnace at 50 degrees, the edenpure will probably never stop running. I'm still skeptical. I'm thinking about selling [] and sticking to just a space heater to place in front of me when it's really cold in the winter. I wish I would have looked into the ratings more, if I keep for the winter that will be the true test for us.

So far so good

11/3/2007 - Rick of Maryland, USA writes:

I researched space heaters and decided on an EdenPure because I liked the idea of infer-red heating elements heating a copper heat sink with a blower, that to me seems like a good way to heat efficiently. I purchased before checking out the blogs. I ordered the XL 1500 and then looked at blogs and found about 75 or even 85 percent were negative. I almost canceled my order once I started reading all the negative feedback about the heater. It came in and I opened it up carfully thinking I was going to need the packaging so I could send it back, I plugged it in thinking I was about to be disappointed. Well, I must say it is a good heater all right, so far anyway. I have had it a week as of 10/28/2007 I have a big 100 year old Queen Ann Victorian with 12 by 18 foot rooms and 10 foot ceilings. We put it in the Kitchen, which is about 18 X 18 with an 8 foot ceiling. It not only keeps this room comfortable but because it faces the bath and adjacent entertainment room these are also effected with warmed air. For a single space heater the Eden Pure is doing just fine. I didn’t buy it as a primary heat source but just to take the chill out of the air when the two boilers are down during the night. I have this thing heating 4 rooms which is about 1,250 sq feet of floor space not cubic and my boilers have not turned on yet. Its 45 degrees out side and my living space is 70. The boilers were on around 12:00noon today but still have not turned on yet and its 7:15pm. To me right now the Eden Pure XL1500 is a great supplemental heating source. If this keeps up I’ll buy a few more.
