Not worth the money!

7/16/2008 - Gina of Ontario, Canada writes:

I've only had my buxton bag for a few months and it's already falling apart. I even bought the more expensive one that is suppose to have better quality leather, but that diddn't help. Also, things seem to fall out all the time. I am definately not happy with this product.

a disappointment

7/15/2008 - tina of nj, united states writes:

I bought this bag because it is relatively small in size but it appeared that it could carry all of my items securely. How wrong I was. First of all the velcro cell phone holder does not securely hold my cell phone. It kept falling out. and the inside part of the bag does not have a zipper, so you have to be very careful or all of your stuff just falls out. there are no slots for any type of cards. and the inside lining is so thin, it ripped within the first week. and the strap cannot be adjusted adequately, therefore, you can not feel secure if you don't hold onto the bag-NO it is not hands free. I have purchased another bag and would NOT recommend buying the buxton bag.

I liked it but bag was too small

7/13/2008 - Carole of Washington, USA writes:

I ordered a red Buxton bag and upgraded to the higher quality leather. It finally arrived and I thought it was well made -- at least mine was. However, when I tried to put all my stuff into it I found it lacking in space. I actually thought it was quite well designed with all kinds of pockets and nooks and crannies. I was terribly disappointed that I couldn't use it so I sent it back and got a refund. However, keep in mind I'm reviewing the upgraded soft calfskin bag and not the standard one. I also didn't actually use it because I have too many items in my purse, so I can't comment on breaking straps or other troubles people seem to have with it.

So - So

7/10/2008 - Deb of MN, USA writes:

I purchased the Buxton Bag because we were going on vacation and wanted to be hands free. Well, it is a little small but worked pretty good for everything that I needed to put in it. Brought it to the beach and it was nice as the sand did not stick to it. Then went to NYC an few weeks ago and brought the Buxton Bag there also, great that it freed up my hands to take pictures. I would recommend this product but don't expect it to be too big, but it is useful.

So Disappointed!

7/5/2008 - Keat of Nevada, USA writes:

I never thought a product from Buxton would be so horribly manufactured. How in the world does this company stay in business? I wish I had read these other stories before purchasing this purse. In concept, it's great..in reality; when first received it looked as though it had been used before because it had marks on it, my zippers also broke off after having it only a few weeks, and it smelled. Buyer BEWARE! Fool me once, shame on me.

Total Disappointment!

7/4/2008 - Denise of South Carolina, United States writes:

I convinced my husband to purchase this bag for me for mother's day. The second day I used it one of the zippers broke. Within a week the magnetic clasp ripped from the bag. When I called to report what had happened I was offered a replacement bag, but opted to return it for a refund - minus the shipping to and from my house. I guess what I find so disappointing is that Buxton has a wonderful reputation. Just expected more.

Piece of Crap

6/26/2008 - Steve of California, USA writes:

I bought this purse for my wife in the middle of April. Here we are at the end of June and the bag is broken. Two zippers broke on it. When I called the company I was told that the bag only had a 30 day warranty. Since it has been longer than 30 days, but no quite 60 days I am out of luck. Do not buy this bag, you are only wasting your money. I wish I would have read the reviews before I bought this piece of crap.

YUCK!

6/24/2008 - Bethany of Ohio, United States writes:

This bag is absolutely HORRID!!! No joke. It was supposed to be a new bag for my moms birthday. Because her other purse was causing her pain. So I bought this bag for her, and it came already opened, the strap was in half and way too short, it smelt HORRIBLE, the stitching wasn't even STITCHING, there were loose strings everywhere. It took a long time to get here then a couple of days. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't waste your money on this crapola bag. Its NOT worth it. And don't listen to the good reviews. Its NOT true!

poor product

6/22/2008 - marianne of Illinois, united states writes:

my friend purchased one of these. we just went on a trip and she took her bag which she had had about 3 weeks. before the end of our 5 day trip one of the zippers broke and the mesh pockets tore. I had a look at it and, though the leather is soft, it is extremely thin. after seeing the bag I would not consider buying one. definitely not worth any amount of money.

Rip Off

6/22/2008 - Joni of Ohio, USA writes:

The advertisement on TV was very convincing. I needed a bag that would organize better. Delivery took longer than expected. Product arrived in an opened plastic bag. The bag is very cheaply made, smells horrible, and looks like something bought used at a yard sale. Is very small. How disappointing. I threw it away. Please do not waste your money!

Don't do it!

6/21/2008 - Unhappy of CA, USA writes:

Simply put, a novel idea, but not the quality you would expect from Buxton. Leather was more like pleather. Great price, bad quality.

Very Disappointing

6/20/2008 - Jamie of Arizona , USA writes:

Bought this for my wife, and after 3 days the strap is loose. The leather is so cheap and the bag is put together in a most unprofessional manner with un-even cuts etc. I'll call [] see if I can return it, but don't hold out much hope. Do yourself a favor and DON'T order it!

Waste of money

6/15/2008 - Eden of Ca, USA writes:

I got this bag at [] so at least I didn't pay s&h but it is still a piece of crapola. After a week one seam came apart. Things fall out all the time. It is awkward to carry. it smells like leather and is soft, but poorly made. It doesn't hold a lot of stuff. I took stuff from a smaller purse and filled it so... The big compartment lets everything fall out. I pretty much hate it.

Don't buy this bag.

6/13/2008 - Allie of CT, USA writes:

UPDATE: I also thought this bag seemed like a good idea; I tend to carry quite a bit of stuff around. But the lining is very cheap; the various pockets are uneven; the bag has no balance (falls over when set down). The workmanship is shoddy. Certainly this bag does not reflect the quality usually seen with the Buxton name. I'm sorry I wasted my money.

buxton bag

6/10/2008 - JEANNE SPANGLER of Calif, usa writes:

Bought the Buxton bag a few months ago, loved it but today the strap broke and cannot be fixed. I felt it should have lasted longer since I don't carry it every day, only used it about once a week. I would not buy another at that price.

Never Again!

6/7/2008 - Mary of Nova Scotia, Canada writes:

I no longer associate the Buxton name with dependable quality. I was dumb enough to order not just one but two of these bags, spending over $80 by the time shipping and handling costs were added. I would have got equal quality spending $6 at a local Dollarama. Specifically, the bags are made from mismatched pieces of lowest quality leather. Seams are poorly finished, making the bags look worn out when they arrive. The nylon strap looks like you have switched your gym bag strap for your purse strap. I have carried my tan bag for 3 days, and it has been subject to absolutely no abuse but it now looks 3 yrs old. I could almost cry. The top flap is sewn on crooked, so the bottom compartment kind of flops to one side. I am going to be calling their customer service line and will follow-up this review with what they have to say.

Works great

6/1/2008 - Rafal of Florida, USA writes:

After reading all the bad reviews I was scared I made a bad buy. I'm in a wheelchair, and I'm a guy so I was looking for a murse that would allow me to hold all my things like keys, cards, pens, chopsticks, wallet, sunglasses and occasionally a bottle of water without having things fall out and looking bulky. Granted it took a while to get here, but the Fedex Smart post was mostly to blame. It doesn't look cheap, it doesn't smell bad in fact it has a nice leather scent. I bought two.In one of them one of the zippers is stuck and that's mt only complaint. I've experienced nothing like the things others described.Remember, it's not a diaper bag, a backpack, etc. It works for what it was designed for. oh, and it has the Buxton name engraved inside.

Is this really from Buxton?

5/19/2008 - Jennifer of Battle Creek, Mi, United States writes:

I just purchased the bag at my local Walgreens. When I opened up the box I did notice an odor, but it is a leather like smell. It should not have been packaged in a plastic bag, as this intensifies the smell. When they open the bag on the commercial, it says Buxton right there on the bag. Mine has a logo that looks like "db design". It also has "genuine leather" stamped on the back. The leather is soft, but poor quality, and the lining is very flimsy. It really makes it hard for me to believe that Buxton really did make this bag. I have been buying wallets from them for years, and they last a long time, heavy leather and quality linings. My "true" Buxton wallet fit nicely into the zippered compartment on the back of the bag. My cell phone does not fit into the pouch on the strap, but it's a blackberry, it won't fit into any cell phone pouches! it did fit into the inside pocket in the front section of the bag. I use a hands free device for the phone wile out and about, so not having incredibly easy access to it is not an issue for me. My keys however, fit into the pouch and do not seem to want to fall out. I have inside the bag so far: My wallet, 2 checkbooks, 2 pens, my blackberry, A 140 sheet 7in by 5in notebook, and 1 bottle of Tums. I still have not gotten to the larger compartment yet. It will hold 2 500ml (16.9 ounce) bottles of water, (I put 2 in just to see) but I don't think I would want to have that much weight in the bag. I have not used it out of the house yet,as I just purchased it. I wanted something that would stay on my shoulder, especially when I am pushing the baby stroller. I've put it over my shoulder to try it out the fit, as I am a fairly large woman. it fits fine with the strap extented all the way out, so slipping will not be an issue for me. A leather strap would be preferable to the woven nylon, I think I will irritate my skin if I don't have a blouse with a collar on. It went on just like the images in the commercial, over my right shoulder and hanging on my left side. Someone in an earlier post stated that she did not like this, but I feel it would be preferable if you wanted to keep the bag on while driving as it will not interfere with the seatbelt. Overall I am not giddy with excitement over the bag, but I do believe that it will serve its purpose for me.

Photo Misleading for RIGHTIES

5/14/2008 - Diana of TX, USA writes:

One of the main things I look for in bags is if I can wear it on my right shoulder. The photo on the Buxton bag box has a woman wearing the bag on her right. But no, this is misleading: when you get the bag it clearly is supposed to be worn on the left side of your body. Who knows WHY because most people are right-handed. I suspect the photo was flipped to make for a visually appealing box (I am familiar with layout and design - it's my industry) but an ethical company and a competent designer would have figured out a way to stay true to the product. The material of this bag is notably flimsy. On television, it looks like a high-quality bag that would be especially good for travel. However, I doubt that this would hold up if used every day. I think that if materials of better quality were used, the purchase would be worth it. For those of you still on the fence about it, Walgreens and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry this product. Examine this product in person and so you don't have to deal with shipping and being billed incorrectly.
