I am 48 and have pretty good skin for my age but I had bad acne when I was younger and was left with large pores and some skin damage. My skin is now "normal" and not oily like it use to be. I tried Bare Minerals because while I liked my Estee Lauder, it was showing up fine lines and my poors in certain light no matter what I did. The Bare Minerals made me look natural as if I wasn't wearing makeup and made my skin look even and pretty. I think the trick to making it work is go to their store if you can and have their make up artist teach you how to apply it (as well as decide what shade is right for you). Also the instructions say "less is more" so don't overdo the application. I was instructed to always use a moisterizer and I use Dr. Wexler's mosterizer. When I wash it off at night, there is so LITTLE makeup, unlike when I wore liquid foundation. I use other eye products and I use Dr. Wexler for skin protection and cleansing, but I love the Bare Minerals for my foundation. I think (if you are taught correctly how to use it), it is great for older skin.

I tried Bare Minerals a few years ago and really liked it at first. I have combination/oily skin that is very sensitive and prone to breakouts-so I thought that this would be the perfect way to remedy that situation. After a few weeks, I started to break out and noticed pronounced sensitivity and a "hot, burning" feeling to my skin when applying the product. I didn't think of the brushes at first, but as a cosmetologist, I forgot to keep the brushes clean! Bacteria LOVES makeup brushes!!! That will make one break out for sure! Especially with my skin type. I got so tired of cleaning the brushes every other time I used the makeup that I just gave up on the whole system. The shiny, shimmery finish is not something I liked either. Having oily skin, I am shiny enough as it is! Still searching for that perfect foundation however! Not a bad product, just not for me.

UPDATE: I have tried this product and stopped and went back to try again thinking I'd change my mind about it. I think it covers well. It does leave you shiny around mid day. My biggest complaint is that I'm not satisfied with the shade. I am fair skinned and I've tried all 3 of the light shades and I look yellow. I tried medium bisque also and it was too dark. I can't find a happy medium. I have never had complements when I wear this, and I have good, healthy skin.

I began using Bare Minerals after my daughter went away to college. I had been using it a couple months when I went to visit her. The first words out of her mouth were, “Mom! I never thought you, of all people, would get a face lift.” Those words did it for me. I am sold. I will never use anything, but Bare Minerals on my face again.

This product looks great on my face in dim light, but as soon as I step into natural light I can see every line, wrinkle & imperfection on my face. My face has also been very itchy and before now I thought it was just due to me sweating at work...but I now realize many other women who have used bare minerals experienced the same itching and breakouts. Im VERY disapointed with this product. Im now in the process of moisturizeing my face with Purpose (made by Johnson & Johnson) because of the itchy/dry feeling I was left with after using Bare Minerals. I really thought this was going to be a wonderful conceiler for me...lightweight, natural "glow", ect. It's anything BUT that. Im now in search of a good tinted moisturizer without fragrance due to my sensetive skin. Wish me luck!

I've used bare minerals for the past 3 months. It worked great at first and i thought it was heaven sent. Within the passed 2 weeks my skin was drying out and i was consistently getting acne around my chin area. Now, my skin is tight and so dry that no moisturizer will help the situation and the acne has really flared up, it's starting to get rather warm in Arizona and my face burns when it sweats. My friend had a similar experience but when my skin looked so good for the first month, i never thought it'd happen to me, I've stopped using bare minerals and will be seeing my dermatologist today. This product is like everything else---it's not for everyone!

i bought this makeup after watching it on tv for so many years. asked my friends and family about it, etc. i got it and at first, i liked it ok. but now that it's getting warmer and i get warmer? it started making me itch and break out and i'm 41 and now i have acne... which wasn't the case before hand, so i guess it's another waste of money for me, as it's causing me more problems, than helping with. looks and works great on my daughter though, so i gave it all to her.

As a makeup artist myself, Bare Minerals tended to be a bit of a disappointment. The range of shades makes it difficult to select the correct shade for you, and unless you have the aid of a makeup artist like myself and my coworkers, good luck trying. Coverage is good, but it doesn't look natural. Since it's mineral based, it gives a sparkly appearance in direct light and it is very easy to tell that you are wearing makeup as it adheres to every hair on your face. Also, if you have a date or an outing, don't put this on wearing clothes. It will get ALL OVER your clothing and is very, very hard to get out without smearing and smudging it all over.

I have been using this product for 5 days now and I absolutely love it. I have been wanting to try this for like 5 years but couldnt justify spending over $60 for just make-up. I am so glad that I took did decide to buy it. It is is the best make up that I have ever used. The make up is so light and natural looking but covers so well. I have red uneven and still get pimples...this make up cover it up so well. I am so happy with my purchase I decided to purchase other Bare Escentuals products. Take the pludge...there is a 30 day return if you dont like it...but I am sure that you will. It is awesome stuff. Genius!!!

This is the best make up ever made. Everyone that had a reaction and decided not to use it, I feel really bad because as you all stated it does the job beautifully. It is unfortunate that this happened to you all, but even natural minerals can cause a reaction to some. I hope that they make a sensitive skin product. I am so happy with this product. I never used makeup because it never looked right on me, and makeup left me feeling very unattractive and worried about it looking like a mask. I had such a low self-esteem during my marriage that I never felt free to express myself or be the real me. My face broke out because of stress, and nothing made it better. I used bare minerals and my face cleared up and my self esteem went through the roof. I am not saying that its a cure-all, but when you look good, you feel good.

I have been using Bare Minerals for about a month now, and really like this product. I don't think it's everything it claims to be, but it's good enough that I won't go back to liquid foundation. I still have to use a liquid concealer as the the minerals don't cover my dark circles and red patches as well. The Bare Minerals go over the liquid concealer just fine, though. Another issue I have is that my skin is inbetween the medium and light shades, so I wish I could order the lighter 'medium' and the darker 'light' shades together.

i like that it is natural, but it doesn't cover well, and my face breaks out. My face gets oily by the end of the day. I do like the eyeliner.

I watched a lot of infomercials before I finally decided to try Bare Minerals. Once I tried it I just didn't think it lived up to all of the hype. I started to notice that sometimes my face, but mostly my eyelids were very itchy, which I later found out could be due to the bismuth oxychloride that is in the makeup. The whole swirl, tap, buff process was taking way too long, it really didn't conceal the imperfections I have, and finally, I think that it is a little pricey. I am glad that so many other women have had better luck with it, but it is not for me.

I am a skeptical person but I witnessed first hand what it can actually do. I didn't purchase it online. Instead, I bought it at Sephora where I could try it on first. I've been really happy with the foundation and I love the concealer brush. It actually hides all of my blemishes. It's quick and easy to use and it doesn't feel heavy or cakey. I would definetly recommend this product to any of you out there. It worked for me!!!

I purchased the complete kit at [] and was very excited as I'd was very impressed with the infomercial. I was so disapointed-I have used many different foundations and this was so unnatural in the coverage- It looks good in a certain light- but in natural sunlight the minerals in this product have a sparkly finish- it was horrible.

I love bare minerals! I waited WAY too long to finally try this makeup. The reason I didn't try it sooner was that I was skeptical that a mineral makeup would actually stay on long enough without rubbing off. But the minerals are so tiny and light that there's almost a magnetic property to it. It honestly stays on for hours and hours. The coverage is fantastic too. This makeup can be lightly applied with one easy application, or for more coverage, applied more. The brushes are the best quality. I love mineral veil too. It's a fantastic finish. I tried revlon's mineral powder and it has nothing on Bare minerals. This is so lightweight and it has NEVER broken me out or dried my skin. I am looking forward to adding more Bare Escentuals products to my collection. Its a bit pricey, but I use mine every day and I still have atleast have remaining. So for me, this will probably last a bit over 6 months. Worth it for sure.
