Not too impressed

12/7/2007 - Nea of East, Norway writes:

Was very excited about this product. The whole mineral-makeup thing have really expanded lately, and I thought I'd go with the original. Found the fairly light color, too tanned for me. And it's kind of shiny. Maybe that's just because I'm used to Maybellines dream matt mouse. But I feel that my face is now shining rather than glowing. Guess it would be good for a sunkissed summer look, but among the snowy mountains in norway, it's a little out of place. It has a light coverage, so your skin needs to be in good condition, or you'll have to wear concealer under it. And that kind of removes the whole "so pure you can sleep in it" feel. An okay product, but didn't live up to my expectations.

Love it!

12/3/2007 - Zoraida of Texas, USA writes:

I started using this product about 5 mths ago. When I started I was not pleased with it, but still continued to use it, and I disagree with all of the negative comments on here. This product does exactly what it says it does it just takes time. I love it now and I wouldn't change it. It is also no more expensive than counter brand make ups.

I'll never use other make-up again!

11/22/2007 - Christine of Washington, USA writes:

I'd seen the infomercials for Bare Minerals plenty of times, and my husband's grandmother did nothing but rave about it. One day, I put on my normal make-up and went out with friends. Pictures were taken, and I was disgusted with how my make-up looked in the pictures. For a present, my mom bought me the Bare Minerals skin and eye starter kits. I absolutely LOVE them. I've got combination skin, with some oily and some dry and flaky areas, and this makeup doesn't dry out the dry places, nor does it cause breakouts in the oily places! As a busy stay-at-home mom, I often forget to wash my makeup off before I go to bed, and this make-up is ACTUALLY good for your skin, even if you do fall asleep in it! It goes on very smoothly, and VERY quickly. It doesn't smell, it's not messy, and while it may seem like it costs a lot of money, trust me when I say it is definitely worth it. It's incredibly simple to use, and you can be done, from start to finish, in less than two minutes, without rushing! That includes the entire face, and eyeshadows. I've recommended this product to everyone I know, and my mother went and bought herself some and loves it, and she'll be buying my sister her own for Yule this year. A really great product!

Itchy coverage

11/10/2007 - stephanie of Mississippi, USA writes:

I bought this product and really liked the coverage it gave. After I used the makeup for about a week I started to get really itchy and my face started burning. I wanted to claw my face off!! I have tried it several times after this initial irritation and always the same result. I have very sensitive skin and will have to stick to the makeup I have always used!

Easy to Use but Not Quick to Apply

11/3/2007 - Millicent of Georgia, USA writes:

I have dark brown/yellowish skintone and it is extremely oiley. I used Iman for a long time because I found tones that matched my skin and it covered dark circles. I purchased Bare Minerials 3 months ago because I wanted a quick to apply makeup with full coverage. However it is not as quick to apply as they claim on the commercial. It is easy but not quick. I have some dark areas and dark circles so I have to apply several layers to get enough coverage. The brushes are not good quality, some of the bristles fall out. The good thing is that my face does not feel covered in makeup, it is easy to wash off and I can sleep in it without worrying about morning blemishes. I plan to continue using the product for everyday wear and use the Iman Makeup for special occassions.

Ok, but not the best

10/30/2007 - Cindy of New Jersey, USA writes:

I tried Bare Minerals foundation and really wanted to like it - I'm sure it's fine for many women - but even the lightest shade was just too dark for me. After trying several other brands, I found [], which does NOT contain bismuth and has a better variety of light shades. The kabuki included with the starter kit is pretty scratchy, there's much nicer ones available at [] or []. The eyeshadow shades are sort of "middle of the road" colors, really nothing exciting. Bottom line - good if you're a medium beige, blend in with all the other soccer mommies type woman, not so much if you're not.

Never Go Back To Any Other!

10/29/2007 - Tabetha of North Carolina, USA writes:

I have very sensitive skin and always seem to have problems with oily skin especially in the T-zone area. I tried everything and always ended up breaking out. I heard from a friend that uses all organic/bare mineral stuff; she recommended this stuff to me. I got it through the mail and couldn't wait to apply it. When I did. I absolutely loved it and so did my husband. It kept my face oil free all day even during hot weather and when I'd touch my face it was so soft like a baby's butt. It also cleared up my ACNE and gave me such a glow. I have my mom hooked on it now. Definately try this product!!! Very good for sensitive skin.. Most important TALC-FREE!!!!

Does a Beautiful Job

10/29/2007 - Lee Anne of Pennsylvania, USA writes:

I starting using Bare Minerals about two years ago. Up until then I wore makeup intermitently and always broke out or felt like I was itchy and puffy. I thought I would try the Bare Minerals and ordered the TV set. It was very nice and I find my skin actually clears up when using it. Recently, went on a Scout campout and took makeup and no sunscreen (go figure) so I wore the Bare Minerals. I did not burn at ALL on my face. My arms and legs burned. I am 50 years old and feel it does make me look younger.

Great for light coverage

10/27/2007 - Courtney of Maryland, USA writes:

I ride horses and am very active, and love this product for a natural, light coverage makeup. It wears very well and, as advertised, does not "melt" when you sweat like liquid foundation. I don't care for the "warmth" as a blush, but like it alot for shading (ie, at the sides of your face to make it look thinner and under your chin to minimize any extra chins!) For a special event or somethng where I want a more "finished" look, I still use my original makeup, but I'm very happy with it for normal days, especially when I just want to look nice, but not "made up".

IThe foundation powder works for me

10/23/2007 - Cathy of British Columbia, Canada writes:

I am glad that I found its foundation powder that has SPF 15. I have sensitive skin and every summer I struggled with different SPF product for the face from drug store brands to expensive brand name ones. Nothing worked: usually after an hour or two (at school, or in the mall, not out in the sun) I started to feel burning sensation on my face; after a day's over, my face would end up with a breakout. I saw the infomercial one day and next time I was in a beauty shop, I looked up this brand. The makeup artist did a makeover for me and I walked around shopping for another couple of hours and it light and comfortable; like I wasn't wearing makeup. SO I bought a starter kit to try and discovered the foundation!! When I was out this summer driving or doing some outdoor window shopping for a couple of hours, the foundation prevented sun damage on my face and I didn't have a breakout. I use it as my sun protection (not outdoor sports though, just daily outings) now and I'm happy with this product. Now if I can find a SPF product that would work for me when I play outdoor sports then I am all set!!

Awesome!

10/19/2007 - Elizabeth of Montana, USA writes:

I tried Bare Minerals because I have some scarring on my skin, and I hate the feel of liquid makeup. It took a couple of uses to figure out how much to use, but now that I have it figured out I absolutely love it! I will never use another product. It covers so well, it's amazing. And I love how it feels. The mineral veil is so cool, I sometimes reapply it throughout the day. I'm a very happy customer!

Caution, I don't recommend for sensitive skin

10/16/2007 - Ivette of Florida, USA writes:

I got the Bare Minerals starter kit as a gift a few months ago. I used it sporadically. On several occasions I felt a bit stinging, scratchy feeling on some areas of my face when I used this product, but I ignored it and continued to use it once in a while. Unfortunately (and scary) for me, last week I woke up with my face in a rash/covered in small bumps and around my neck (only in front)They were itchy and pinkish color. I used cortisone which relieved the itching but I continued to have the rash. So, I went to the dermatologist he diagnosed me with contact dermatitis caused by the use of this makeup. I am on medication and only hope I can get rid of the horrible condition and have my smooth skin back. I find very misleading that Bare Minerals/Escentuals claims this makeup to be free of "skin irritants." I think is very irresponsible (if not a false claim) that this company also says this makeup is beneficial to all skin types and "especially those concerned with skin sensitivities, allergies, scars, blemishes, rosacea, wrinkles and pigmentation"(quoted form their webpage). Based on my experience/nightmare, I suggest they change those words and warn consumers this makeup can cause skin condition/inflammation on some people, and may not be suitable for all skin types. I do not recommend this product at all, use at your own risk.

Works for me

10/9/2007 - Alison of Nevada, USA writes:

I have never liked foundation and never really learned how to put it on, but I started trying to as I got older because my skin started showing its age. I always looked like I had clown face because I could never blend it. Bare Minerals works for me because you don't have to be particularly talented to put it on. I only use the foundation and the mineral veil. I think it looks natural without being overdone. Covers most pimples as long as they're not huge.

Bare Essentuals

10/7/2007 - Gay of Pennsylvania, USA writes:

The Bare Essentuals does not cover freckles, etc. I applied it very heavily and it still did not cover. I wouldn't buy it again. As I did not buy it in a set, I did not try to return it, but I should have. It is much too expensive and does not do what it claims.

Great for sensitive skin

10/4/2007 - Jo of Colorado, USA writes:

I have been using Bare Minerals for 3 years now and I love it. I have had eczema on my face since I was a teen and make-up aggravated it. With Bare Minerals, I don't have eczema breakouts anymore. It makes a great under-eye concealer and covers blemishes well. My 39 year old skin has never looked better. I purchased in a store rather than getting a kit online.

misleading demostrations

10/3/2007 - Catherine of Florida, USA writes:

I've been using the product for over a month. I find, unlike the demos I've seen on TV, you must keep applying it several times to get the coverage you want. I think the models already have product on their skin, before you see it just barely skimmed over their face by the demonstrator. There is no way to get coverage of even a small blemish with just the few grains that the demonstator says will do the job. If you work the grains into the brush as they say to, it just about disappears, and you cannot simply waft the brush over your face as seen. I've watched the cd which came with the starter kit several times, it just doesn't work that way, it takes much longer to apply than advertised. This kind of ticked me off. Having said this, the jury is still out. I like the way my skin looks, but it is drying around my eyes. I like the brushes, and the fact that I can blend colors to get a certain look. It doesn't last any longer than regular foundation, but it doesn't have an oil, heavy feeling, it feels as if you have nothing on you skin, I like that! I'll give it four stars, but it really falls between three and four stars. I think if the advertising was more accuratet, and I expected a little less, I would give it five stars. it's a good product, but doesn't work quite the way they say it does.

the perfect make up for me

10/2/2007 - Cristine of California, USA writes:

I have sensitive skin, oily but then sometimes it gets really dry also. I used so many over the counter products, powders and liquid foundation alike. I've even used brand name products and nothing ever worked. They only made me break out more or made my skin oily. I tried bare minerals last year and i swear by this product. i love that i can buy it at sephora to avoid all those online scams. Everyone says my skin glows and it looks like i'm not even wearing make up. I still have pimples, acne scars and oily skin but it totally covers it so well! It took me some time also until i got it perfected but when i did, i've never felt better and i look flawless. it's so worth it, honestly. i'm actually only using the starter kit and would like to use other products as well. no negative on my part, love it!

Wonderful products!

9/28/2007 - Merrianne of Arizona, USA writes:

I am 62 and have been using Bare Minerals for over 8 years. I started in Alaska and have since moved to Arizona. I have been very pleased with it it both places. I have slight rosacea, and the bisque covers it wonderfully. I use the foundation, and then the Mineral Veil. I have been complimented on my skin since using it. I have slept in it, perspired in it, and had no problems. When unable to find the proper color, I have used 2 different ones and combined them on the brush. Worked wonderfully. My step-daughter is now an esthetician, and uses it at the salon where she works.

Acne and Oil Prone

9/28/2007 - Cris of Georgia, USA writes:

I'm 24 years old and suffer from adult onset acne. I wanted to try something that was lighter than my current foundation (Dermacia). I received Bare Minerals today. I watched the video, took "before" photos, and then spent the next 2 hours applying the BareMinerals foundation. I applied it the first time, using the consealer brush for maximum coverage on my acne, it looked too dark and too consentrated so I washed my face and tried again. I applied this makeup 4 times using different techniques each time. The fourth time I finally took a photo of the end result. THE PROS: 1.)It is half the price of my current foundation. 2.)The texture is light and soft. 3.)I noticed that it doesn't rub off on clothing too much. Over all, this would be a great product if someone is just trying to achieve a balanced skin tone. THE CONS: 1.)It gives only light coverage, not suitable for medium to heavy coverage. 2.) It's messy, even for an experienced powder user. 3.)It is not ideal for taveling with, as the powder will end up all over the cap if not kept in a horizontal position creating a HUGE mess. THE CONCLUSION: I'm sticking with Dermacia. It is twice the price at $100 for a 3 month supply BUT it does give me a flawless look. I am NOT being paid for this review. This is in fact a REAL person review. I understand how difficult it is to find a really good foundation, expecially for someone who is acne prone, and that not everyone can afford to "experiment" with such expensive products. I hope this review was helpful. For anyone that would like to see the before and after photos (of both products) unedited from a real person I am willing to email them. []
