The purchasing of this product has been absolutely horrifying experience for our family. This product was purchased as a birthday present for one of our family members. On the third time using it I watched my dad, whose present it was, doing his ab exercises. As he tried to get up from the chair it completely lost its balance and as my dad tried to stablize himself he fell backwards along with the chair while falling he grabbed onto the sides of the chair and the next thing I know there was blood everywhere and he just said my finger came off. He absolutely amputated his left ring fingers tip and has lacirations on his other hand and luckily did not severe any nerves. But please becareful while using this piece of equiptment, there have been recalls for this product all over the United States, however there is nothing in Canada. The product has been made safer and has been remodeled by the looks of the pictures on the current website, but the older models are still being sold, so be careful not to pruchase those.

Spent $90 on this thing and i hate it. After taking about 3 hours to put the complicated thing together, i tried it, i did about 60 sit ups and i wasnt even sore, nothing it didnt do a thing. Then about a week after i bought it the strap that you hold on to broke. As complicating as this thing was it was easier just to eat the $90 then to try to take it apart to return it. Do not waste your money!!!!

I used this in [] and at someon'e house and you can really feel your stomach getting a good workout. I like it but wouldn't buy it because I want a machine that works all of the muscles and not just one. But it's good for people looking to use this for just the abs.

Bought one for my wife last year, and everyone who has tried it (we have a small gym in our home that our friends use as well) says it's a great workout. Low impact, so it lives up to that, and you're focusing pretty much directly on the abs. My only issue is that it has a weight limit of 250 lbs. I'm about 300 lbs. myself, and I can't use it as much as I'd like to. Many of those who really need to get into shape aren't going to be able to use the Ab Lounge.

I purchased the Ab Lounge 2 about 3 years ago, and have been using it regularly ever since. I never quite achieved a "six pack" with it, but it definitely got me started towards developing long-dormant muscles in my abdominals. Assembly was fairly straightforward but I recall having to go out to my shop for some different screws for the top crossbar. On my model, the cloth handle was way too tight for me to get my arms through. Worse, the cloth handle ripped through its mounting washers on several early occasions until I modified the handle and installed 1" diameter washers. It has not pulled loose since. The exercise regimen on the DVD was easy to follow, and I remember feeling a muscle "burn" in the early days. Nothing is quite as easy as it looks on TV, though, so be prepared that you don't just "lounge" on this and develop your abs. Each set of reps includes pulse reps, where you do your sit-up and then "pulse" back up; a double whammy on the muscle involved. Done correctly, the exercises will get you breathing harder. I have had difficulty with one specific set of the exercises - where you put your arms under the cloth handle (to eliminate arm effort undermining the exercise) and take your feet off the pedals. First I couldn't get my arms under the handle until I modified it; then I tended to slide down the machine during the reps until I was completely out of position and my feet were on the floor. Unfortunately this set is the one that takes the most ab effort so it was frustrating that I couldn't complete the reps in position. I attribute it to a design flaw in the machine, and I have to keep at least one foot on a pedal to push myself back into position. The good news is that after a few months of using it every other day, my abdominal area got much tighter and I could see ab muscles through the layer of flab. I've lost 60 pounds since I began this effort, attributable mostly to diet changes and to distance running, but certainly some inspiration from my ab work. True, as with almost all exercise gizmos, they're not necessary to do the actual work. You could do situps and crunches without a machine. But would you? I needed the incentive of the machine, and I like the stretch that you can get by overarching back with the Ab Lounge. You're not going to get muscular six pack abs by doing the DVD workout on the Ab Lounge, although I suppose you could if you increased the reps to much higher numbers and spent much more time with it. I used it as a starting point to get me going, and I still use it to warm up prior to doing more serious ab work on an inversion table. This is one of very few exercise machines that I've bought and continued to use past a few weeks (the others are gathering dust and/or clothes and will eventually make their way to the local []). For the incentive alone, it has been worth every penny. One extra note: working your "core" seems to have a good effect on your back. After many years of terrible lower back pain, I can honestly say I haven't had a backache in at least two years. Can't say it is at all attributable to the Ab Lounge, but apparently it hasn't hurt it, either. And my posture is 100% better now - I no longer slouch as I did for my first 50 years.

I have never been able to do sit ups from an old back injury so I have always been a flabby 40 inch waist struggling to fit in my 38 pants. Always wearing my shirts out of my pants and draping myself in a blazer overcoat. After 2 months im 20 lbs lighter my 38s are loose. I love tucking my shirts in my pants. Im bearing my chest and swimming in neighbors pools. Im married but women are checking me out which is pretty cool. This is my real story for the past 2 months and to those of you that think its a fake.....you are just too lazy/flabby to persevere and succeed like the rest of us....

I love my Ablounger 2! It is singularly the most utilized piece of fitness equipment that I have ever purchased. You can feel both the upper and lower abs being worked without overextending the lounger too far back and hurting yourself. You can knock out 100 in a few minutes easily.

This is a smart ab workout: My training has been with professional ballet and Pilates. The Ab Lounge 2 supports my neck--very important--and targets the abs/back without stress and strain that can occur with exercise balls and floor crunches. My Mother, in her 80s, likes it because it helps sciatica. A win-win situation!

As a body builder I have tried many infomercial products just to prove them as junk. THe ab lounge is one of the few which I can honestly say is a nice piece of equiptment. When I do regular crunches, i tend to finish them off by laying on my stomach and lifting my head and legs off the floor as if I where flyin glike superman. This gives me a great stretch on my abs. With the ab lounge I dont have to do this because it stretches them out after every repetition. Those who have posted negative feedback on this product probly have medical conditions or have restricted movement etc. I would not recommend this item for my mother who has a limited range of motion. I give this item 5 stars.

I have used it off and on for 2 years now. I had back surgery 15 years ago and when I start having pain I go back to using it to help strengthen muscles. Helps to achieve better definition too.

I bought one and my mom bought one. She has an older model which folds up nicely and is easy to put away (one that is in the picture), I on the other hand have a newer model which does not fold up at all unless you unscrew all the parts (REALLY BIG PAIN IN THE BUTT! Safety feature I suppose, because they did send my mom an update kit she hasn't put on.) so I have this big thing that just sits there now. I watched the video's tried different positioning didn't matter. It is uncomfortable and whether you do 10 or 110 you're better off doing straight sit ups and crunches than spending your money on this thing!!!!!!

I have been told to exercise for my physical health for ten years since I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I couldn't do it. Not even water aerobics! Always more pain than gain. Back problems eliminated crunches on the floor. This product works!! And doesn't hurt me. After only two weeks of using the product three times a week for about fifteen minutes, I can feel the shelf of muscle that holds my organs in is back!! I haven't felt it for years. The only complaint I have is that the strap is too short to get my arms completely through (I am 5'4' and weigh 120#.

I have a very debilitating back condition and this is the only way I can do situps. I love it and would recommend it highly. Susan

I bought my AbLounger 2 on December 1st, 2004 after seeing the info-commerical about the AbLounger in November 2004. I researched it and discovered the AbLounger 2 was $100 cheaper than the Ablounger, but it didn't fold up and it didn't have the bar at the top, but instead had a strap. But I felt if I folded it up, I wouldn't use it, so the AbLounger 2 was right for me! I wore a size 58 pant on Dec. 1st 2004 couldn't even see my toes and had a hard time tying my shoes and was barely able to do 12 situps! It is now July 12th, 2005, I can see my toes and my feet and I wear a size 48 pant that are loose on me...I see a size 46 pant in my very near future....all from doing situps on my AbLounger 2! I have built up to doing 500 situps a day!!! :-) I was out hiking last weekend and decided to try and run back to my van (about a block distance), first time I would run in 25 years and was amazed I was able to do it plus I wasn't out of breath when I got there, and I felt great!!! Not bad for an old man who just 8 months ago couldn't hardly bend down to tie his own shoes!!! I do alot of summer camping/hiking/fishing and bought another AbLounger 2 to take with me, so I have no excuse not to do them. I do my situps 1st thing every morning 7 days a week! Thanks to the creators of the AbLounger 2 for a great machine! Sincerely, Keith
